Tyler Perry sued for $260 million over alleged sexual assault by ‘The Oval' actor
Tyler Perry has been accused of alleged sexual assault by an actor from his popular TV series 'The Oval,' The Post can confirm.
According to court documents obtained by The Post, actor Derek Dixon sued Perry, 55, for alleged sexual assault and sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles on June 13.
Dixon claimed that Perry 'took his success and power and used his considerable influence in the entertainment industry to create a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic with' the actor.

When Dixon did not reciprocate Perry's alleged advances, he claimed the media mogul purportedly began to 'subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation,' per the lawsuit.
Dixon claimed that he first met the 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' creator at an event in 2019 and that Perry 'picked' him 'out of a crowd' and later asked for his phone number while suggesting that he might have a role for the actor.
Perry then cast Dixon in two episodes of his BET+ series 'Ruthless.'

'Perry said it was a small role that could get a lot bigger, thereby setting up the first stage in a series of escalating quid pro quo offers,' Dixon alleged in the lawsuit.
In January 2020, the 'House of Payne' producer allegedly invited Dixon to his home in Douglasville County, Ga.
Although Dixon hoped 'that he would be given a chance to befriend Perry and show him how talented an actor' he was, Dixon claimed that he was allegedly 'served many alcoholic drinks' and convinced to spend the night at the mogul's home.

'At the end of the night, Perry told Dixon not to drive home,' the lawsuit read. 'Perry said it was dangerous and that Dixon was too 'inebriated' to drive home. Dixon agreed and was escorted to a separate guest room, not knowing that this was a ruse to allow Perry to assault Dixon.'
'Dixon was tired and did not have pajamas and so he got into bed only wearing underwear,' the complaint continued. 'Before he knew what was happening, Dixon felt someone else slip into bed behind him and start rubbing Dixon's body around his inner thigh in a highly sexual and suggestive manner. Dixon turned around and saw that Tyler Perry was in bed with him.'
Shortly after the alleged incident, Perry cast Dixon in 'The Oval' and allegedly told the actor to quit his other job as an event staffer because 'Perry was not able to control Dixon so long as Dixon had a secondary income that was providing for his basic needs.'

Dixon claimed his role as Dale in 'The Oval' was 'written as a gay, homeless, and desperate store clerk' who was forced to 'sleep with one of the other characters for a place to stay' because that was what Perry was allegedly looking for in a real-life partner.
The most shocking accusation allegedly unfolded in June 2021 when Dixon claimed he was almost raped by Perry while once again visiting the entertainment mogul's Georgia home.
He alleged that Perry pulled down his underwear and groped his butt after asking for a 'good night' hug.

'Rather than arguing, Dixon complied, at which point Perry reached out and yanked Dixon's underwear down from behind,' the claims in the lawsuit stated. 'Perry then began to vigorously grab, grope, and play with Dixon's buttocks in a sexual manner. Dixon was naked, stunned and seized by tremendous fear.'
'Dixon started to tell Perry that he 'did not want [his] underwear down,' that Dixon 'didn't want to be naked,' and that Dixon 'didn't want this,'' the lawsuit continued. 'Dixon quickly reached to pull his underwear back up. As soon as he did, Perry grabbed Dixon's reaching arm with a tight grip and held fast.'
According to the court documents, Dixon was able to distract Perry and change the subject before the alleged incident went any further.

Dixon ultimately filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in or around June 2024 before quitting 'The Oval' because of the alleged sexual harassment, per the lawsuit.
Besides his many accusations against Perry, Dixon also included several years' worth of alleged text message exchanges between him and the 'Madea' creator in his filing.
Dixon is suing Perry and Tyler Perry Studios for quid pro quo sexual harassment, work environment harassment, sexual harassment, workplace gender violence, sexual battery, sexual assault, retaliation, and more.

'Just like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Sean 'P-Diddy' Combs, Kevin Spacey, Roger Ailes, and many others in the industry, Mr. Perry's success has led him to believe that money and influence can get him whatever he wants,' Dixon wrote in his lawsuit.
'That belief slowly transformed into the false idea that Mr. Perry can get whomever he wants,' he added. 'There are things in life that money cannot buy.'
Perry's attorney, Matthew Boyd, denied the claims, telling The Post, 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.'

Philadelphia's Netflix House, located in the King of Prussia Mall, will include a 'twisted tour' of the Eve of the Outcasts Festival from the horror series 'Wednesday' and a 'high-stakes race' toward a mysterious Devil Fruit from the live action adaptation of 'One Piece,' in addition to virtual reality games from Sandbox VR, Top 9 mini golf and a Tudum theater for screening events. The Galleria Dallas location will allow fans to journey through a 'Stranger Things' backdrop to solve a mystery and face off with friends in 'Squid Game' activities. It will also feature a game room complete with physical challenges, arcade games and more. Both locations will include Netflix Bites, a restaurant that serves themed food and drinks, as well as a merchandise store. No details on the Las Vegas Netflix House have been announced, but a Netflix Bites opened inside the MGM Grand earlier this year.

Tyler Perry denies claims in $260M lawsuit over sexual assault claims by actor in his shows
Tyler Perry is being sued for $260 million over sexual assault claims, which he has denied. Last week, a lawsuit was filed against the actor and filmmaker on Friday, June 13, by Derek Dixon, who plays the character, Dale, in Perry's show, "The Oval." In the complaint, Dixon alleges "a sustained pattern of workplace sexual harassment, assault, and retaliation perpetrated by Tyler Perry" and is suing the filmmaker for alleged quid pro quo sexual harassment, work environment harassment and more. The lawsuit alleges Perry promised Dixon "career advancement and creative opportunities," only to "subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances." According to the lawsuit, Dixon and Perry met in 2019 while Dixon worked for an event company that was hired to plan the opening party for Tyler Perry Studios. Dixon claims he was assigned a role at the party that "required frequent conversation with Tyler Perry." According to the lawsuit, the "Madea" filmmaker and Dixon exchanged phone numbers at the end of the party and Perry began asking the then-aspiring actor about his goals. The lawsuit states that Perry cast Dixon in his show, "Ruthless," and began sending Dixon "strange and untowardly" messages. In January 2020, the lawsuit alleges Perry invited Dixon to his home in Douglasville County, Georgia, where they drank alcoholic drinks and had "friendly" conversation. The lawsuit continues that at the end of the night, Perry told Dixon not to drive home and offered Dixon the guest room in his home. The lawsuit alleges Perry assaulted Dixon that night. According to the lawsuit, following the assault, Dixon tried to ignore Perry's calls or texts, which became more aggressive "until finally Perry offered Dixon a part in a new show called 'The Oval.'" According to the lawsuit, Dixon "put up" with Perry's comments due to fear over his role in the show being cut. "Dixon immediately understood that his job security depended on his 'relationship' with Perry," the lawsuit states. "From this point on, Dixon worked with the constant fear of losing his job if he did not engage with and endure Perry's sexual harassment." Things allegedly escalated between Dixon and Perry after they filmed the episode where Dixon's character was shot four times, "indicating a seeming end to his role on the show and his termination from the job." Perry had invited Dixon to his trailer for drinks. The lawsuit states that after he asked Dixon if he was attracted to him and other inappropriate questions, Perry allegedly assaulted Dixon when he was about to leave the trailer. "As soon as Derek Dixon left the trailer following Perry's violent assault, Dixon became severely nauseous and extremely anxious about his job, careers and livelihood," the lawsuit states. Another incident took place on Perry's private island in the Bahamas, where the cast was having a party, the lawsuit alleges. By December 2020, Dixon began "feeling depleted" due to Perry's "continued pattern of sexual harassment," according to the lawsuit. "The assaults and harassment began manifesting in his physical health and Mr. Dixon had no one to turn to." The complaint alleges that as the sexual harassment continued through the beginning of 2021, Dixon was prescribed an antidepressant for the stress he began experiencing. In June 2021, Dixon claimed he was invited by Perry to his house again to discuss the pilot for Dixon's show, "Losing It." At the meeting, Dixon alleges he was sexually assaulted again. Dixon decided to move to Santa Monica, California, in or around January 2023, allegedly "to put some distance between himself and Perry." But the lawsuit states that the "quid pro quo harassment and attempts to cover up the sexual assault by promising a show continued."After dangling the promise of producing Dixon's show multiple times, Dixon realized in 2024 that Perry was doing so in an effort to prevent Dixon "from exposing the dark side of Tyler Perry," the suit claims. When reached for comment, attorneys for Dixon told ABC, "At this point Mr. Dixon has no comment. We believe the complaint speaks for itself." In response to the lawsuit, Matthew Boyd, an attorney for Perry and TPS Production Services, LLC, said, "This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail."
