Kroos Endorses Wirtz Amid Liverpool Transfer Links
Kroos offers insight into Wirtz's future amid Anfield rumours
Liverpool's pursuit of Florian Wirtz has taken a fresh twist following comments from one of Germany's most celebrated midfielders. Toni Kroos, who recently retired from professional football after a glittering career with Real Madrid and Germany, has publicly given his backing to Wirtz, should the youngster opt for a move to Anfield.

Speaking during the Icon League indoor football event, Kroos addressed the speculation surrounding Wirtz and his potential transfer:
'If he thinks that's the best next step for him and his career, then that's good,' said the 34-year-old, via bulinews.com.
'You can technically only judge decisions like this afterwards, of course.'
With Wirtz emerging as one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe, Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for his signature. However, negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen are expected to be anything but straightforward.
Leverkusen firm on valuation despite Liverpool bid
Wirtz, still just 21, is said to be the subject of a €100 million bid from Liverpool. Yet Bayer Leverkusen are believed to be holding out for a figure closer to €130 million. Such a valuation underlines the club's determination to hold onto their prized asset unless a substantial offer is placed on the table.

Adding a further twist to the ongoing saga are reports suggesting that Darwin Núñez could be included in a possible swap deal. If the Uruguayan forward were to head to Leverkusen, it would significantly alter the financial equation and potentially accelerate negotiations.
The inclusion of Núñez would offer both clubs a fresh attacking dynamic, although such a high-profile exchange would require careful consideration from both sporting and financial perspectives.
Kroos reflects on Wirtz's top-club readiness
Kroos is well positioned to speak on Wirtz's career trajectory. The veteran midfielder previously spent time on loan at Leverkusen before establishing himself at Bayern Munich and later Real Madrid. His understanding of the environment Wirtz currently operates in lends credence to his remarks.

'He is a player who can prevail at any club in the world in my opinion,' Kroos added.
'It doesn't matter if it would've been Bayern or Liverpool… he has all the tools to assert himself at any given top club.'
This is high praise from a player who has operated at the highest levels of club and international football, winning multiple UEFA Champions League titles and a World Cup.

Slot era set for defining first transfer move
Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot is expected to play a central role in shaping the club's transfer strategy this summer. The Dutchman will be keen to put his own stamp on the squad and securing a talent like Wirtz would represent a major statement of intent.

The Bayer Leverkusen sporting director has already gone on record confirming Liverpool's 'concrete interest' in the midfielder, reinforcing the seriousness of their pursuit. With pre-season on the horizon, the Reds will be eager to finalise any major additions in good time.
Wirtz's technical ability, vision and creativity would make him an ideal fit for Slot's dynamic style. But his adaptability to Premier League intensity will be a decisive factor. For now, all eyes remain on Liverpool as they navigate one of the summer's most intriguing transfer narratives.

Adli set for medical after Cherries agree deal with Leverkusen for winger
AMINE Adli will travel to Bournemouth to undergo a medical ahead of a move to the Cherries in the next 24 hours after the club agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen, the Daily Echo understands. Adli looks set to join the club for a package totalling €29million, with the left winger set to become the fifth signing for the Cherries this summer. The winger joins shortly after Dango Ouattara left Bournemouth to join Brentford in a club-record deal for the Bees totalling £42m, and the arrival of fellow forward Ben Gannon Doak. So far this season, Adli has played once for Leverkusen, notching an assist in the first round of the DFB-Pokal against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. In total, the Moroccan has played 143 times for the German club since joining in 2021, scoring 23 goals and providing 25 assists. Born in France, Adli progressed through the Toulouse youth team, playing for the French side's second team between 2018 and 2020. He made his debut for the first team in 2019 in the Coupe de la Ligue, before helping Toulouse to the playoffs in the 2020/21 Ligue 2 season, with eight goals and seven assists, and was voted Ligue 2 player of the season. Since joining Leverkusen, he has helped them win the Bundesliga in 2023/24, as the team went unbeaten, as well as winning the German cup in the same season, with Adli top scoring in the DFB-Pokal with five goals. Last season, he was a part of the side which won the German Super Cup. Adli made his international debut for Morocco in 2023, and has gone on to make 15 appearances for the national side.

Liverpool Transfer News: Double-deal derails £50m playmaker move
Liverpool had been hoping to agree a transfer with RB Leipzig for one of the club's brightest talents on the basis that one of the German club's big stars is likely to join Chelsea this summer. However, the latest update suggests that Leipzig have decided to turn their attention elsewhere. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! The player in question is Harvey Elliott, who has seemingly been pushed out of Liverpool, despite having a really impressive start to his career on Merseyside. His performances in the first team have been positive but our transfer business has meant that his game time is increasingly limited. 🔴 Winning the U21 Euros looked to be the catalyst for an expensive move away, since he won the player of the tournament award, but none of his linked clubs appear to be interested anymore. Reports coming out of Leipzig now suggest that a new target has been pivoted to instead of him. Leipzig and Chelsea double-deal It always looked likely that Xavi Simons would join Chelsea, despite the illustrious depth they have in attacking areas. Enzo Marseca used six forwards throughout the Blues' 0-0 draw to Crystal Palace on the weekend and still no breakthrough came. As such, the Dutchman's move is likely to happen. That would have left Leipzig with a creative hole in their team and plenty of money to spend on a replacement, with interest having been lodged in Elliott, although no actual bid has been made. In Tuesday's dealsheet from The Athletic, it was understood that the Englishman remained a potential replacement for Simons, although his move has now been significantly derailed. The update stems from David Ornstein's understanding that Leipzig are now looking at bringing Christopher Nkunku back to the club, with talks stepping up with Chelsea for a permanent move. In his report, he said: "A deal for Nkunku to return to Leipzig is not considered close at this stage, and other forward options remain in play for the forward. The 27-year-old has been expected to leave this summer, with The Athletic reporting in November that he was not happy at the club." However, this move appears to make sense for all parties, except for the fact that the German club are swapping a 22-year-old for a player five years older, which is a bold decision given how young the current Leipzig squad is. You feel it's a bit of an opportunistic move to revive Nkunku's career. It would represent a double-deal between Leipzig and Chelsea, with one attacking player moving in order to make room for the other to take his place, with the finances for the moves relatively similar. Elliott will likely be stuck without a move this summer if the deal goes through since Liverpool hold the player in high esteem, especially since his campaign in the Euros last season, although where Arne Slot will play him this season, if at all, is going to cause headaches since he was set to leave. The player's desire to succeed at Liverpool has never been in doubt, to the extent that he was only considering a move away from Merseyside because it appeared to be the best decision for his career, rather than because he wants to leave. The fans and his teammates mean everything to him. As such, we're in a sticky situation. Of course, having a player of his talent to utilise this season is going to help bolster the side, he just wasn't in the initial plans which means Slot might have to rethink his tactical approach if a new suitor in the transfer market can't be found before September 1.

Luis Diaz reveals Florian Wirtz talks before leaving Liverpool
Luis Diaz has revealed that he spoke to Florian Wirtz about his transfer to Bayern Munich, describing the move from Liverpool as a 'big gamble'. The Colombian winger joined Bundesliga champions this summer in a deal worth £65.5 million (€75m), just months after helping the Reds win the Premier League title. Diaz found the net on his Bayern debut this past weekend, scoring what was ultimately the winning goal against Stuttgart in the DFL-Supercup. 'I'm very happy and pleased with how this weekend went,' the 28-year-old told ESPN. 'As you pointed out, it was my first official match, my first goal, and my first title. I dreamed of coming here to achieve great things and give my best. I try to enjoy football. 'It was a big gamble and I'm very grateful to the management for reaching out to me and trusting me. It's always up to me to respond on the pitch and contribute with what I know how to do. To be at the disposal of the coaching staff. To start this way and be together with my teammates is incredible.' Read – Luis Diaz reveals Florian Wirtz talks before Liverpool exit Despite Liverpool's attempts to secure a contract extension for Diaz, the attacker eventually got his wish to join Bayern last month, but not before speaking to Wirtz about the demands of the German top flight. Wirtz joined the Merseyside outfit from Bayer Leverkusen for a club record £116m transfer fee including add-ons. 'I already had some knowledge of the Bundesliga,' Diaz said. 'I love watching football and all the competitions. I had the opportunity to talk to Florian in Liverpool, and I know it's a physical league. I hope to have a great debut. I've been here at the club for about two weeks, and I need time to settle in.' Diaz dedicated his goal against Stuttgart to former Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota, who perished in a car accident last month alongside his younger brother, André Silva. 'It's brutal,' Diaz reflected. 'The fact that he's no longer with us and that we've lost an incredible teammate is unbelievable. No one is prepared to receive this kind of news and feel okay when faced with a situation like this. 'He was a great teammate to me. We will remember him fondly. He will live on in our memories, and being able to dedicate the goal to him is something special. I had planned to do so.'
