No Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem at Silesia Diamond League? Here's what we know so far about IND vs PAK javelin clash
The Silesia Diamond League was expected to be the first India vs Pakistan javelin face-off since the two competed at the Olympics last year in Paris, where Nadeem threw his spear to a distance of 92.97m to claim gold medal. It was also an Olympic record.
While Nadeem topped the podium, Chopra had to settle for silver with a throw of 89.45m. The development of Nadeem's surgery was confirmed by his coach Salman Butt. According to Butt, Nadeem underwent the surgery with an eye on the upcoming World Championships.
'He (Nadeem) is more focused on preparing for the World Championships in Tokyo in September, which is why he decided to have the surgery on his calf muscle, which had been bothering him for a while now,' Butt told PTI. 'I don't think they (Neeraj and Nadeem) will compete against each other until the World event.'

Anshul Kamboj To Be Dropped, Kuldeep Yadav Can Come In India's 11 For 5th Test: Report
Last Updated: Anshul Kamboj will be replaced by Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh could debut, and Kuldeep Yadav might replace Shardul Thakur in India's 11 for the final Test against England. The Indian men's team has reportedly lined up several changes for the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. According to a report in PTI, pacer Anshul Kamboj, who made an underwhelming and visibly nervous debut in the fourth game at Old Trafford, is set to make way for fit-again Akash Deep. The report said left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has also recovered from his hand injury and could be ready for a chance. Although head coach Gautam Gambhir declared all pacers fit after the draw in Manchester, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have bowled excessively throughout the series and might be rested. Bumrah has already played the three Tests he said he'd be available for, but with the series on the line, it could change. If it doesn't, Arshdeep could have a good chance to come back. Meanwhile, the report added that the case for Kuldeep Yadav coming in is 'stronger than ever' and he could come in for all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Thakur scored a decent 41 with the bat in the first innings but bowled a measly 11 overs across the Test for no wickets. 'So Kuldeep, we are trying to find a way for him, but it is just (that we need) more consistent runs from our top six, so that we can bring a guy like Kuldeep in," India bowling coach Morne Morkel said earlier in the series. 'It's finding when he comes in, how we can find balance and how we can get that batting line-up to be a little bit longer and stronger. We've seen in the past that we've lost wickets in clumps. Kuldeep is world-class and he's bowling really well at the moment, so we're trying our best to find ways for him to get in," he had added. While these changes would be confirmed later, one substitute is certain: Dhruv Jurel is coming in for Rishabh Pant. Pant is injured and ruled out of the series and Jurel, who was already keeping wickets in the previous game, would come in full time. It would be interesting to see where he bats, though, considering, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar did exceedingly well at number five and six in Manchester. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Diksha finishes strongly in final round as debutant Woad wins Scottish Open
Ayrshire (Scotland), Jul 28 (PTI) India's Diksha Dagar finished with a strong back nine in the final round of the Women's Scottish Open to give herself a boost for her next event, the AIG Women's Open, a Major. Diksha, who made the cut on the line, added a second straight 71 to finish with rounds of 69-76-71-71 for a total of 1-under and a tied 39th position. Diksha, who started on the 10th, had early setbacks with a bogey and a double bogey on the 12th and 13th but began her recovery with a birdie on the 18h. On the second Diksha birdied the third and then had three birdies in a row from the fifth to the seventh. But she dropped a shot on the eighth. The other two Indian players, Pranavi Urs and Tvesa Malik, missed the cut earlier in the week. English star Lottie Woad started her professional career in spectacular fashion with a three-stroke victory at Dundonald Links. It's a second LET title for Woad, who won the 2025 KPMG Women's Irish Open but as an amateur. Woad made her professional debut this week, after securing her LPGA Tour card following a T3 finish at the Amundi Evian Championship. Woad, who won the 2025 KPMG Women's Irish Open, went into the final day with a two-shot lead having been top of the leaderboard at the 36-hole and 54-hole marks. The 21-year-old started with back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes before nine pars on the trot, but Woad then rolled in birdies on 13 and 14. A third bogey of the week happened on 16 for the former world number one amateur, but she finished in style with a birdie on 18 to win with a score of 21-under-par. Woad becomes the first player to win on professional debut on the LET since Singapore's Shannon Tan at the 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open and the first on the LPGA Tour since Rose Zhang at the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open. Korea's Hyo Joo Kim finished in second place on 18-under-par after a final round of 68 (-4). Spain's Julia Lopez Ramirez equalled the round of the week with a 65 (-7) on the final day to finish in a tie for third place alongside Korea's Sei Young Kim on 14-under-par. World number one Nelly Korda finished in solo fifth place on 13-under with Denmark's Nanna Koerstz Madsen in sixth on 11-under. South Africa's Paula Reto clinched the second AIG Women's Open spot with her seventh-place finish after a final round of 71 (-2) in Scotland. Korea's Mi Hyang Lee was in T8 alongside Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn with five players in a share of 10th place on the leaderboard.
