While hearts were breaking across the world at Christmas when the final ever episode of Gavin & Stacey aired, one actor's dream came true. This is because he bagged a role in the show.
After 17 years of waiting, we finally got to learn the outcome of Smithy (James Corden) and Nessa's (Ruth Jones) love story, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

It was all the more special for Scott McGlynn, 37, who was an extra in the unforgettable episode, and he said the experience was like no other.

It's clear his time with the cast will always hold a special place in his heart, and he looks back on the time fondly. Who could forget working with Nessa, after all?
As the Welsh sitcom is nominated at the TV Baftas on May 11, it seems like the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane. Scott revealed exactly what it was like to work with the cast during the last ever episode.

Scott said: "It was incredible to work with so much talent - the creativity in the room was a buzz and you could feel it. Joanna Page was just a sweetheart going around being so kind and complimenting everyone's outfits.
"I was with Russell Tovey, which was insane to even stand next to him. He's an incredible actor, and I've been watching him since I was a teenager. It was great - emotional moments too.
"We celebrated Ruth's birthday on set, which was lovely to be a part of. She was feeding me the cake."

Earlier this year, fans couldn't get over the fact that the The Finale didn't receive many nominations for the Bafta TV Awards, even though the episode pulled in a record 19.3million viewers.
Following much hype, the much-loved BBC comedy saw Ruth Jones, 58, nominated for her performance of "Nessa" in a comedy category. As well as this, the show has also been nominated in the publicly-voted Memorable Moment category.

Viewers praised Mick (Larry Lamb) during the moment he stood up to show he thought it was an awful idea for Smithy to marry Sonia (Laura Aikman). The moment had comedy viewers in tears on Christmas Day last year.
Even though the sitcom only receieved two nominations at the big bash, Gavin & Stacey fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the cast. As for Scott, he's just delighted he got to be a part of the show - for a very special reason.
Describing what it was like to be a part of the final ever episode, Scott added: "Being a part of Gavin and Stacey was incredibly special to me, especially because I grew up in Barry. My dad was a huge fan of the show too - he loved everything about it.

"Sadly, we lost him suddenly last year - a few months before filming, and getting the chance to be a part of the Christmas special felt like I was doing it for him. He would've been so proud.
"It was surreal to step onto a set with iconic characters who I grew up with since the first episode - it was giving me family vibes on set. It was an emotional and unforgettable experience for everyone creating this amazing episode."

BBC The One Show paused as Alex Jones pays emotional tribute to 'friend'

The One Show host Alex Jones paid tribute to a friend at the start of Thursday's show The One Show host Alex Jones has delivered a heartfelt homage to a "friend" one year after their tragic death. During tonight's (June 5) episode of the popular BBC show, Alex and her colleague Roman Kemp delved into the day's top stories from the UK and beyond. ‌ The presenting duo also chatted with Clare Balding about an exciting summer for women's sports, and caught up with Michael Sheen and Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville and Tom Cullen, who are joining forces again for the BBC drama The Gold. ‌ At the start of the episode, Alex shared a touching tribute to Dr Michael Mosley, who died at the age of 67 after going missing while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi last June. "It's been a year since our friend Dr Michael Mosley sadly died. He had a long history with this show and one of his sons, who's also a doctor, shared with us how he hopes to continue his father's legacy," she remarked, reports the Express. A special segment was then aired, with Michael's son, Dr Jack Mosley, explaining how he planned to follow in his father's footsteps. "My dad was so passionate about healthy living, and his infectious enthusiasm was part of what made him so popular," Jack reflected. Discussing the aftermath of his father's death, Jack continued: "It was such a sudden thing when dad did pass away. It has been difficult for my siblings and I, my mum. The only positive I can think to come out of it is it has brought us closer together as a family, and that's something that he would have liked to see." ‌ Michael's spouse Clare, also a medic by profession, conveyed how the outpouring of public sympathy has provided her immense solace during this hard time. She then took cameras into the cupboard where Michael used to record his podcast, Just One Thing, and revealed that she "can't quite bring herself" to take down the podcast's poster. ‌ Now, Jack has written a book on weight loss medication and food nutrition, called Food Noise. He has worked closely with his mum, who has created over 50 healthy recipes for the book. Jack concluded: "To continue on some of these really important messages about healthy eating and lifestyle changes is something that was very important to my dad. I do want to continue that mission." Back in the BBC studio, Alex reflected: "It's hard to believe it's been a year... Our thoughts, of course, are with the whole family at this time." Beyond his podcast, Michael gained recognition for his roles in several health-focused TV programmes, including Trust Me, I'm A Doctor, The Truth about Exercise, and Lose a Stone in 21 Days.

Addressing the speculation head on, Timm, 33, said: "We can't rule out that it wasn't from cocaine or partying 'cause I've done lots of that in my life." "But I stopped doing that about five years ago when I started Front Runner, and I still had two good nostrils when I ended my partying career." Front Runner is a sports and streetwear brand founded by Timm that has 120,000 followers on Instagram. The dad-of-one believes his nose issues more likely stem from some rough punishment in the boxing ring. He continued: "I did have a boxing camp after that (partying), which I got absolutely f***ing pumped in… my nose got broken a couple of times, so I'm gonna say boxing - but we can't completely rule out the cocaine fking conspiracy. "But yeah, those days are over... I'm done with all that. Everything I do now has a purpose." Timm had septoplasty - a procedure to rebuild and straighten the septum - and has shared his recovery on social media. He is married to Briana De La Motte and they have a nine-month-old daughter called Harper.
