Arab Times14-04-2025
KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Secretary-General of the Kuwait Basketball Federation, Thamer Al-Shenfa, along with the Assistant Secretary-General and Arab Basketball Federation member, Owaid Al-Enezi, will travel to Dubai this evening to attend the General Assembly meeting of the Arab Basketball Federation scheduled for tomorrow. The agenda includes the election of a new board of directors for the Arab Federation.
Al-Shenfa will officially represent the Kuwait Federation at the meeting, while Al-Enezi is seeking re-election to the Arab Basketball Federation for a second consecutive term.
Al-Shenfa expressed that the Kuwait Basketball Federation supports Al-Enezi's candidacy to reinforce Kuwait's presence and influence in the regional basketball scene. He described the electoral competition with the Omani candidate as a fair and sportsmanlike contest.
Al-Enezi, for his part, stated that he is eager to earn the continued trust of the Arab federations to further advance basketball competitions and development across the region.
Meanwhile, two key matchups will take place today in the final round of the basketball league at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex Hall. Al-Arabi will face Al-Qadsiya at 5:00 pm, followed by a highly anticipated clash between Kazma and Kuwait Club at 7:30 pm.
In the opening match, Al-Qaisiya (25 points) is expected to secure an easy win over Al-Arabi (19 points), using the game as preparation for its upcoming encounter with Kuwait Club and the championship semi-finals. Al-Arabi, having missed out on a semifinal spot, will focus on fine-tuning its squad ahead of the Cup competition.
The second matchup pits Al-Abyad (27 points) against Kazma (27 points) in a showdown for the top position. Kuwait Club aims to repeat its dominant performance from the first round, where it won 98-70, and finish the second half undefeated. With standout players like Hamad Adnan, Hussein Al-Khabbaz, Mohammed Adnan, Alexander Al-Ghais, Turki Hamoud, Imran Jawhar, and Yousef Al-Hamdan, Kuwait Club is poised for a strong finish.
Kazma, however, promises to be a formidable opponent, boasting experienced talent including captain Ahmed Al-Balushi, Yousef Burhama, the Al-Saho brothers—Abdulrahman and Saho—and Abdullah Ibrahim, setting the stage for a thrilling and competitive encounter.
