Paresh Rawal corrects fan who calls him ‘hero' of Hera Pheri 3, requests him to reconsider his exit: ‘There are three heroes'
Paresh Rawal's sudden departure from Priyadarshan's buddy comedy Hera Pheri 3 sent shockwaves in the film industry and among the fans of the franchise who have been waiting for the third part for close to 20 years. Since then, fans have been lobbying on social media to get Rawal — who plays Babu bhaiya — back in the threequel.
On Monday, a fan on X commented on a post of Rawal and wrote, 'Sir please think (think emoji) Once again to join HERA FERI movie (popcorn emoji) You are the hero of this movie (red heart emoji).' Rawal was quick to respond. 'NO … There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri (folded hands and red heart emojis),' the actor wrote back.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri released in 2000, and also featured Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar. It revolved around a quirky, kind-hearted garage owner Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Rawal), a cunning loafer Raju (Kumar) and a struggling pauper Shyam (Shetty). The trio returned with a sequel Phir Hera Pheri in 2006, which was directed by Neeraj Vora.
On May 18, Rawal took to X to officially announce he is no longer part of Hera Pheri 3. 'I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from 'Hera Pheri 3' was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreement with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr Priyadarshan,' Rawal had said.
Kumar, who also serves as a producer on Hera Pheri 3, has sued Rawal for Rs 25 crore in damages. At the trailer launch of the his new film, Housefull 5, Kumar was asked how fans are disappointed with the exit of Rawal from Hera Pheri 3, and have called the acclaimed actor 'foolish', to which Kumar said it is 'not right' to address his 'good friend' Rawal as 'foolish.'

'Using this kind of word for one of my co-star like a foolish word or something. I would not appreciate it, and that's not right. I worked with him since the last 30-35 years, we are very good friends. He's a great actor and I really admire him,' said Kumar, adding, 'It's a very serious matter. It is a matter which is going to be handled by the court.'
On Rawal's birthday on May 30, his Hera Pheri co-star Suniel Shetty wished him on X with a photo of the two, in which Kumar has been cropped out. 'To the man… Who is a powerhouse of both Wit & Wisdom and an even more wonderful human being. Happy happy birthday Pareshji. Much love and respect always,' Shetty wrote on X.

Rawal responded to Shetty on Monday, 'Anna thanks this means a lot (folded hands emoji).' Shetty had promised fans he'd discuss Rawal's sudden exit from Hera Pheri 3 once he returns to Mumbai post the promotions of his latest release, Kesari Veer, in Delhi last month. However, there's no word on if the two have had a conversation about the same so far.

Ashish Chanchlani Urges Paresh Rawal To Reconsider Exit From Hera Pheri 3: 'We Need Babu Bhaiya'
Last Updated: Ashish Chanchlani urges Paresh Rawal to return as Babu Bhaiya in Hera Pheri 3, calling him the soul of the franchise. Fans echo the sentiment online. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal's abrupt exit from Hera Pheri 3 has sparked a wave of disappointment among fans — and now, even prominent content creators are joining the chorus urging him to return. Popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani recently appealed to the actor on social media, calling him the 'soul" of the iconic comedy franchise and requesting him to rethink his decision. The situation escalated in May when Paresh confirmed he would not be returning as the beloved Babu Bhaiya, a character that has become synonymous with the Hera Pheri universe. His departure came as a shock, especially after reports revealed that Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films, had filed a Rs 25 crore lawsuit against him for walking out midway through the project. It all began when a fan tagged Paresh Rawal on X (formerly Twitter) and pleaded with him to rejoin the cast, writing, 'Sir, please think once again about joining the Hera Pheri movie. You are the hero of this movie." In response, Paresh wrote, 'NO… There are three heroes in Hera Pheri," referencing the trio of himself, Akshay Kumar, and Suniel Shetty. Ashish Chanchlani, echoing the sentiments of many fans, replied to Paresh's tweet with heartfelt words: 'Paresh sir, I am sure you must be feeling burnt out by Babu Bhaiya… But we all genuinely request you to come back. You are truly the soul of this franchise. I hope you find a way." Paresh sir, i am sure you must be feeling burnt out by babu bhaiya,Its a tough situation for you that no one will understandBut we all genuinely request you to come backYou are truly the soul of this franchise❤️I hope you find a way— Ashish Chanchlani (@ashchanchlani) June 9, 2025 While Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty have been confirmed for Hera Pheri 3, the fate of Babu Bhaiya — arguably the franchise's most iconic character — remains uncertain. Meanwhile, legal tensions continue to unfold. A lawyer representing Akshay's production house claimed that Rawal was paid Rs 11 lakh for his involvement and never raised any issues regarding the script or direction. The suit alleges that Paresh's exit was 'abrupt, unilateral, and mala fide," especially since he had already participated in early filming activities. However, sources close to Paresh Rawal have disputed this narrative. Speaking to IANS, a source clarified: 'Calling someone like Paresh Rawal, a stalwart with four decades of iconic work, 'unprofessional' is not just unfair, it's laughable. Let's be clear: the film hadn't even started. There was a promo shoot, not a film schedule. The real shoot is planned for next year." As the legal and public drama unfolds, fans are still holding out hope that the original trio — Raju, Shyam, and Babu Bhaiya — will be reunited on screen once more. But for now, the question remains: will Paresh Rawal return to the role that defined an era of Indian comedy? First Published:
