Rashad Jennings: New York Giants fans have 'a great reason to be excited'

USA Today7 hours ago

Many NFL insiders are warning the football world to watch out for the New York Giants this season.
You can count retired running back Rashad Jennings among them as he recently went on a rant to express how he's "bullish" on the Giants this season.
Jennings says the Giants are getting back to the formula that won them four Super Bowls -- a strong pass rush, running game, and a seasoned quarterback who knows how to win.
"Giants fans," Jenning said, "We have a great reason to be excited this season, for so many reasons. Where do you want me to start, offense or defense?"
Jennings specifically honed in on the team's pass rush, likening it to the 2007 and 2011 championship teams.
The Giants have the makings of a formidable pass rush with top pick Abdul Carter being added to a mix that already includes Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence.
Their running game is solid with Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and rookie Cam Skattebo, and the quarterback room has been completely revamped with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston being joined by rookie Jaxson Dart.
The Giants are flying low on many experts' radars after a 3-14 season. They could be this year's Washington Commanders, who went from the basement to the NFC Championship Game.

Aaron Rodgers: I don't want the attention, when I'm done playing you won't see me

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers plans to retire after this season, and he says that once he's done playing, he's done being seen in public. Rodgers said in his interview with Pat McAfee that he doesn't like being a celebrity and looks forward to being a private person when he's done playing. 'I don't want the attention — I know that's a narrative out there,' Rodgers said. 'When this is all done, it's Keyser Söze. You won't see me. I won't be in the public. I don't want to live a public life. That's why it's so strange, what's going on right now in my private life, because I don't want to live a life in the public eye. I'm not gonna be in the public eye. When this is done, I'm done. You won't see me, and I'm looking forward to that.' Rodgers' comments would seem to rule out working in television or taking significant endorsement opportunities, which are among the most lucrative jobs for retired NFL players. Time will tell whether he sticks to that, or whether he finds that he does like public-facing work, and both the attention and the money that kind of work brings.

THE RUNDOWN Taylor Swift was Travis Kelce's supportive partner in Nashville last night. The singer was photographed at the welcome reception for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's Tight End University summit, which he co-founded in 2021 with fellow NFL tight ends George Kittle and Greg Olsen. TEU later shared footage of the couple arriving hand-in-hand to the event on its Instagram. 'Tight End Era ✨,' it wrote. The clip offered a very rare look at their dynamic: Swift dressed for the occasion, putting her own spin on one of summer's trendiest prints: gingham. She stood out in a Hunter Bell crop top and skirt as she posed alongside Kittle's wife, Claire; Azaria Thomas; and Emily Trapani. She accessorized with a Logan Hollowell hand chain: Swift's outfit hasn't sold out yet: Prior to the Nashville trip, Swift had been spending time in Florida, where Kelce was training during his offseason. A source told People on May 27 that the singer was there to 'support' her partner. The insider added, 'Travis still seems very happy with Taylor.' On June 12, a source told People that Swift is 'really looking forward to the upcoming NFL season. Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule. This fall will be completely different. It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' Swift plans to be there for her partner more. 'Her schedule is much more open now that the Eras Tour is wrapped, and she's genuinely excited to have the time and flexibility to show up for Travis more consistently,' the source said, adding that 'Taylor plans to be at as many of his games as possible.' This marks an exciting time in Swift and Kelce's almost two-year relationship. 'It's a chance for them to settle into more of a routine, and they're both really happy about that,' the insider shared.
