Spinal Tap Welcome Elton John For Rebuilt ‘Stonehenge'

Yahooa day ago
Spinal Tap gets a glorious do-over of its disastrous 'Stonehenge' performance from the original 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap during the movie's upcoming sequel, this time with a little help from Elton John. The artists' new take on the cut is the lead track from the soundtrack to Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, due Sept. 12 from Interscope in tandem with the film's theatrical release.
In an accompanying video, John (wearing a druid cloak, naturally) and his grand piano are seen emerging from beneath the stage to accompany Spinal Tap members David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) during a raucous live concert. This time, the stage prop Stonehenge monument has been built in the proper dimensions (18 feet tall, rather than 18 inches) and the band is able to complete the performance without major embarrassment.

As previously reported, The End Continues features numerous real-life music stars, including Paul McCartney, who lends a hand on a remake of Spinal Tap's 'Cups and Cakes,' and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who help enliven 'Big Bottom.' John also guests on a fresh take on 'Flower People,' which in the film's mythology was a hippy-dippy 1967-era early Spinal Tap single in a Beatles style — or, prior to St. Hubbins, Tufnel and Guest being christened 'one of England's loudest bands.'
Spinal Tap director/co-writer Rob Reiner announced in 2022 that he and the principal cast of the peerless mockumentary were reuniting for a sequel. The plot is based around the now-septuagenarian Tap reforming to fulfill a contractual obligation with their late manager Ian Faith (Tony Hendra, who portrayed the character in the original film, died in 2021).
Here is the track list for The End Continues:
1. 'Nigel's Poem'2. 'Let's Just Rock Again'3. 'Flower People' with Elton John4. 'Brighton Rock'5. 'The Devil's Just Not Getting Old'6. 'Cups and Cakes' with Paul McCartney7. 'I Kissed a Girl'8. Reneé Rapp Unleashes Riotous Second Album ‘Bite Me': Stream It Now

Reneé Rapp isn't holding anything back on her new album Bite Me, released today (Aug. 1) via Interscope. On her new album, the Sex Lives of College Girls alum leaves behind the heartbreak ballads of Snow Angel and leans full tilt into raucous pop rebellion. Over 12 tracks and 33 minutes, Rapp trades vulnerability for attitude, letting her inner chaos take the wheel as she sings about sex, fame, parties, and the power dynamics that come with them. Together, they craft a sound that draws from '90s alt-rock, early 2000s pop-punk, and glammy synth-pop — all while centering Rapp's unfiltered voice. Lead single 'Leave Me Alone' set the tone back in May, combining punchy guitars with lyrical confrontation. Follow-ups 'Mad' and 'Why Is She Still Here?' further fueled anticipation, with Rapp balancing aggression and playfulness across themes of obsession, resentment and messy intimacy. The project also features her real-life partner, Towa Bird, on the disco-tinged standout 'At Least I'm Hot,' where the two flirt over a funky guitar line in one of the album's lighter moments. In a recent AP interview, Rapp said of the album, 'I wanted to love this. I wanted to be able to walk away from this and be so proud of myself and impressed, no matter what anybody else thought.' 'That intention, and also wanting to prove it to myself, was really grueling,' Rapp told The Associated Press. 'And also really fun.' While Snow Angel dealt in emotional fallout, Bite Me thrives in the aftermath — messy, unbothered, and unapologetically loud. From the snarling opener 'I Can't Have You Around Me' to the closing piano ballad 'That's So Funny,' Rapp makes it clear she's not interested in being palatable. Stream Bite Me below. Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails swap drummers

Foo Fighters have a new drummer: the former percussionist for Nine Inch Nails. Nine Inch Nails have a new drummer: The former sticksman for Foo Fighters. Foo Fighters fired its new drummer Josh Freese this year, just two years into his tenure behind one of the most coveted thrones in rock following the death of Taylor Hawkins in 2022. The band quickly announced it had a replacement ready in Ilan Rubin, the touring and session vet who most recently played in Nine Inch Nails. At 32, Rubin was the youngest musician inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, and spent 16 years with the band. It's unclear if Rubin is permanent addition to the band or a touring member, but the Foos have dates booked in Indonesia on Oct. 2, followed by Singapore, Japan and Mexico City. They recently released 'Today's Song,' its first new music since 2023, to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary. 'Over the years, we've had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak,' Grohl said in a note about the new song. 'Moments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can't go it alone.' Freese, however, did not look long for new work. Nine Inch Nails, who had a sudden vacancy behind the kit just a week before its extensive 'Peel It Back' North American Tour began, announced they had re-hired Freese, who performed with the band from 2005-2008. The band posted a photo of Freese, captioned 'Let's f- go,' acknowledging the hire. Freese also posted a note about returning to the NIN fold. 'Leaving Nine Inch Nails at the end of 2008 was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. My wife and I were expecting our third child, and I knew I needed to step away from life on the road to be home with my family,' he said. 'NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every single night thinking, 'That was incredible. We absolutely crushed it' ...That level of intensity, pride, and satisfaction after each show is something I've rarely experienced anywhere else. Now, being back on tour with Trent and the crew—helping them do what they do best night after night—is something I'm incredibly excited about.' This drummer swap must come as a happy relief for both acts with big tours impending. Now if Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham can truly re-connect, we'll be in a golden age for peaceful rock reunions.
