Jurassic World Rebirth: Jonathan Bailey revealed he was five years old when he first watched Jurassic Park, and even as a child, the film struck a deep chord with him.
Jurassic World Rebirth: When Jonathan Bailey first appeared as the smitten Lord Anthony in the Bridgerton series, he had everyone's hearts in a chokehold. The actor then appeared as the feisty Fiyero in Ariana Grande's Wicked, further cementing his footing in today's zeitgeist. Now, Bailey is all set to star in the next instalment of the Jurassic Saga, Jurassic World: Rebirth. Bailey plays palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis in the film, and he exclusively opened up to us about his role and memories of the franchise.
Bailey recalls his first memory of the beloved dinosaur franchise and tells News18 Showsha, 'I was five years old when my family took me to Jurassic Park, so a slightly questionable choice by my parents, given that it was PG-13." The actor mentions that the film struck a deep chord with him, even as a child.
He explains, 'I remember it was kind of spiritual, not only because of the vision and the fantasy, but because it spoke to something about the modern world's relationship to the past and nature. The characters were so vivid and playful, the writing was so taut, and because it was Spielberg, it was a sumptuous escapist delight. The John Williams score! How do you rank the John Williams scores? I'm literally paid to say this now, but I do think it's number one."
Bailey's film will now lead the Jurassic Saga fans into a new era of fantasy and grandeur. The actor will take the franchise forward from Sam Neill, who has previously played palaeontologist Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park series, as well as in Jurassic World Dominion. Interestingly, Bailey's Loomis has a special connection with Neill's Grant.
Henry Loomis uses the same trowel in Jurassic World: Rebirth that Alan Grant used in Jurassic Park. Jonathan Bailey considers it an honour to represent the franchise's next-gen hero-palaeontologist. 'To carry forward the baton of Alan Grant is special," Bailey says and adds, 'And to play Henry, who embodies the love of nature and our best curiosities about it, was great fun. David Koepp's script was exciting and so fascinating in its ideas. It struck a chord in the part of me that's a bit of a nerd."
