Yet another Manhattanite is making its mark in Montauk.
The iconic Gosman's Dock on the Montauk waterfront has been rebranded and re-envisioned as Gosman's Dock by Bagatelle. The collaboration with luxury hospitality group Bagatelle Group, which runs the well-known bistro Bagatelle in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, includes a revamp of the octogenarian destination for beachgoers over the last 80-plus years.
Located at 500 W Lake Dr, Gosman's is well-known as one of the best places to watch the sunset, and the sprawling property is always teaming with families and dogs licking ice cream cones, scarfing down lobster rolls, and wandering the beachy paths.
New for the summer 2025 season, which kicks off on Thursday, May 29, the luxurious reimagining of Gosman's keeps the area's distinct dining spaces while adding an elevated culinary vision. The original fish market, which offers both retail and wholesale local seafood, remains independently operated, and continues to provide fluke, clams, oysters and more to the surrounding restaurants.
"This collaboration is focused on embracing the qualities that made Gosman's a mainstay of the Montauk lifestyle scene through preservation over renovation. Bagatelle's ability to understand and embody the communities in which it operates made them the perfect partner for this endeavor," said Gosman's Dock owner Stephen Deckoff. 'We're thrilled to have an opportunity to help maintain one of Montauk's beloved landmarks. We are proud to build something worthy of the community that has given us so many wonderful personal memories.'
Gosman's Dock by Bagatelle is now home to the new Bagatelle Brasserie, plus the original Topside Rooftop Restaurant and Bar and well-known Gosman's gems: The Ice Cream Parlor, Inlet Café, and the iconic Clam Shack, where you can order at the window and enjoy crisp fried clam strips on the water.
'Montauk's Gosman's Dock is a cherished part of the community, and we are honored to reimagine it with care and creativity,' says Rémi Laba, co-founder of Bagatelle Group. 'Our goal is to celebrate its legacy while introducing fresh, elevated experiences that resonate with both locals and visitors alike.'
Designer Sam Baron added some Côte d'Azur-inspired charm and Hamptons elegance to the area that, until recently, felt more nostalgic than chic. Now, terracotta-paved terraces, blue and white striped details, plus newly planted lavender and beach grasses to amp up the natural elements across the property.
The new culinary program, led by chefs Rocco Seminara, Manon Santini, and Rémi Chevallier, highlights Mediterranean-inspired dishes and emphasizes seasonality and local produce.
Signature plates on the Bagatelle Brasserie opening menu include tuna tartare with avocado and espelette pepper vinaigrette, sea bass carpaccio, linguine with grilled lobster in a bergamot shellfish broth, locally-sourced oysters, barbecued catch of the day, and wood-fired pork ribs lacquered with spiced citrus honey.

The dessert menu by World Champion Pastry Chef Manon Santini includes Manon's award-winning Jivara chocolate pizzetta with caramelized hazelnuts and orange blossom beignets with milk chocolate and ginger sauce.
To drink, a vibrant bar program celebrating local ingredients to capture the flavors of summer via cocktails. Think citrus-forward spritzes, herb-infused gimlets, and frozen delights perfect for sunny Montauk afternoons. The culinary landscape in Orlando is booming. According to the Florida Department of Businesses and Professional Regulations, the number of restaurant licenses in Orlando has increased year over year. Not only is the number of restaurants growing, but the number of award-winning restaurants is increasing as well. Orlando now has the second highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the state of Florida, coming in behind Miami. The Michelin Guide for Florida added 11 new restaurants to the Orlando line up for 2025. The city now has 59 restaurants that have been recognized by The Michelin Guide. That includes nine starred venues, 15 Bib Gourmands and 35 Michelin Recommended dining destinations. Orlando also had two James Beard nominated chefs in 2025. Amy Drew Thompson is a multimedia food reporter for Orlando Sentinel who has lived in the city for 20 years. She calls the dining evolution in Orlando 'incredible." 'We have so much available now, at all price points, from killer weekly food truck events to, as of this year, two-Michelin-star venues for visitors to explore,' Thompson said in an email. As Thompson notes, Orlando is the new home of one of only two two-Michelin-starred restaurants in the entire state of Florida. Sorekara, a restaurant in the Baldwin Park neighborhood that serves a tasting menu highlighting Japan's 72 micro seasons, was awarded the coveted distinction in April 2025 at the Michelin Guide Awards for Florida. The tasting menu at Sorekara starts at $275. The dining room at Capa Capa, a Spanish-influenced steakhouse perched on the 17th floor of The Four Seasons Orlando, earned a Michelin star for the fourth year in a row at the April awards. According to Capa's head chef, Chris Edwards, Orlando's not just a city for tourists to grab a quick bite, it's a place where food is taken seriously. 'It's an exciting time for the city for any culinary professional to grow and thrive. With Orlando being a major tourist destination, it gives us the opportunity to experiment with local ingredients and the fusion of multicultural techniques,' chef Edwards said in an email. Steak at Capa at The Four Seasons Resort Orlando The Four Seasons Orlando is also home to the Michelin recommended restaurant, Ravello, that offers a modern Italian menu. Bacán, a restaurant in The Lake Nona Wave Hotel serving innovative Latin American dishes, and Nami, the Lake Nona Wave's contemporary Japanese restaurant, are also Michelin recommended. Diners can even get a Michelin-starred meal right in one of Orlando's famed theme park destinations. Victoria & Alberts is located inside Walt Disney World at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It serves modern American cuisine in an elevated Victorian setting just a stones throw away from Cinderella's castle in the Magic Kingdom park. It's the only restaurant owned and operated by a U.S. theme park to be awarded a Michelin star. But Thompson says it's not just pricy tasting menus and Michelin starred establishments contributing to Orlando's thriving food scene. There are restaurants at all price points serving up delicious food from cuisines around the globe. The Mills 50 District, which is directly north of downtown Orlando, is a colorful neighborhood known for its wide variety of Asian-owned businesses and eateries. One of the neighborhood hubs is Mills Market, a food hall featuring two Michelin Bib Gourmand recognized establishments, Bánh Mì Boy and UniGirl. The Bib Gourmand distinction is reserved for restaurants that offer exceptional food at reasonable prices. UniGirl is an onigiri snack shop designed like a Japanese 'konbini' or convenience store. They serve freshly made onigiri with fillings like spicy mentaiko (a Japanese delicacy made from salt-cured Alaska pollock roe) and sea urchin. Bánh Mì Boy is a Vietnamese café that takes a creative spin on traditional dishes, like a French dip bánh mì and Saigon street wings. A dish at Kaya Around the corner from Mills Market is Kaya, a Filipino restaurant set in a small bungalow with patio seating and a garden. Kaya earned a Michelin Green Star award which is given to restaurants that are eco-friendly and demonstrate exceptional sustainable practices. Kaya sources 90% of their produce from Central Florida farms. According to Thompson, Kaya diners should also head out to the backyard where they'll find a small stand that makes 'artisan-level' kakigori, a Japanese shaved ice dish. The stand is called Koko Kakigori and Thompson says it's one of her favorite desserts in the city. Mead at Zymarium For those looking for an award winning drink, bars in the area include Otto's High Dive, a rum bar specializing in Cuban dishes with a Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction and Zymarium, Orlando's first meadery. Zymarium has also been awarded the most 90 point meads in the world by The Mead Institute. 'The more attention the city gets, the more talent it attracts, so the culinary fires here, small and scattered to start, are starting to grow and spread,' Thompson said in an email. According to chef Edwards, the food renaissance in Orlando is thanks to the thriving local food culture and an influx of talented chefs. 'With chefs and restaurateurs opening establishments that focus on high-quality ingredients and creative dishes, Orlando is increasingly recognized for its culinary talent, chef Edwards said in an email. "It's not just a city for tourists to grab a quick bite; it's a place where food is taken seriously."

A chance meeting at Chicago's airport has transformed 102-year-old Beatrice Stieber into an unlikely social media sensation, spreading her simple philosophy of life to millions around the world. Affluent consumers, seen as the most resilient segment of travelers, are spending significantly less on airline tickets, according to new credit card data, signaling a potential threat for an industry that has banked on premium customers seeing them through these economic turbulent times. Credit card spending on airline tickets by high-income consumers—those making over $150,000 annually—saw a 7% step down in growth over the 35 days leading up to May 25, according to new data from Consumer Edge, a provider of consumer spending data. Lower-income consumers had already pulled back on airline spending immediately following the announcement of Liberation Day tariffs, April data showed. The May data shows a reversal from March and April, as 'the highest-income group went from the best growth rate to the worst, and if that persists, that could be a problem [for airlines],' Michael Gunther, VP and head of insights at Consumer Edge, told Forbes. This data 'might be a potential forward indicator, because if a weakness is being seen today in the spend, that's probably forward bookings,' Savanthi Syth, an analyst at Raymond James covering the airline sector, told Forbes. On first-quarter earnings calls in April, major U.S. airlines universally acknowledged that the uncertain economy had created significant weakness in demand for 'main cabin,' or economy seats, but they insisted that demand for premium seats remained strong. For first and business class flying, revenue per kilometer (RPK, calculated by multiplying the number of paying passengers by the distance traveled) declined by a massive 26.2% year over year in North America, far outstripping the 4.2% decline seen globally, according to an April market analysis by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a global trade association representing airlines. This year is shaping up to be a disappointment for America's airline industry. As recently as January, major U.S. airlines were forecasting revenue growth in 2025 compared to 2024. But by mid-April, a shaky economy, exacerbated by President Donald Trump's Liberation Day tariff announcement, compelled Delta, American, Southwest and JetBlue to pull their full-year guidance for 2025, while United Airlines hedged by offering dueling outlooks: one if there is a recession and another if not. Since the start of the year, the Dow Jones U.S. Airlines Index is down 13%. United and Delta stock are down 11% and 13%, respectively, while American and JetBlue shares are down 30% and 33%, respectively, since the beginning of the year. So far, so good, insist the airlines. 'International trends continue to be strong,' American Airlines CFO Devon May said last month at the Wolfe Research Global Transportation & Industrials Conference, adding that the carrier expects positive revenues from that segment in the second quarter. Acknowledging declines in inbound demand from Canada and Europe, Andrew Nocella, United Airlines' chief commercial officer, noted in April that 'U.S.-origin demand has more than compensated for these reductions.' It's unclear if American travelers' appetite for foreign destinations will wane, given the greenback has tumbled 6% year over year, according to the DXY, an index that measures the dollar against a basket of foreign currencies. Compared to this time last year, the dollar is down 5% versus the euro, 6% against the pound sterling and down 8% versus the Japanese yen. That means Americans will pay more on the ground compared to last year when they visit these countries. Strong premium demand in recent years inspired many airlines to overhaul cabin interiors across their fleets to give a bigger presence to premium features like lie-down seats. In their first-quarter earnings reports, airlines continued to bank on premium to compensate for softening demand for 'main cabin,' or coach seats. For example, Delta Air Lines president Glen Hauenstein told investors in April that 'in a recessionary climate, premium demand has shown greater resilience compared to main cabin demand.' This new data from Consumer Edge may expose a chink in that armor. 'A lot of international flying is already bought for the summer, right?' Syth told Forbes. 'But what happens after the summer? And so it's interesting—this is kind of the first data point for that higher-income household that I've heard as seeing softening.' The hotel industry is also being impacted by lower consumer confidence. Last week, CoStar and Tourism Economics downgraded their joint U.S. hotel forecast for 2025, now projecting only 1% growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR), down from 1.8%, citing cooling demand and increased risk factors such as weaker leisure and corporate travel.
