Swindon target receiving interest from League One and League Two

Swindon Town will reportedly face plenty of competition if they are to bring back Joe Westley from Burnley in a permanent transfer this summer.
Westley scored three goals from three starts on loan at Swindon last season, picked up on loan during the January transfer window for his first spell in the EFL.

Although he was generally used as a finisher by Ian Holloway last season behind Harry Smith as the starting striker, reports have linked Swindon to a move to bring him back across the summer, and The Adver are aware that he has been considered as an option among discussions around targets.
Now, The Lower Tiers have reported that Town are not the only ones to be discussing him, with League One Wigan Athletic, along with Walsall and Fleetwood Town in League Two, weighing up moves for the son of manager Graham Westley.
The 20-year-old has begun pre-season at Burnley and has another year on his deal at Turf Moor, but expressed his desire to continue playing regular EFL football this season, something which is unlikely to come in Scott Parker's team after they won promotion to the Premier League.

As of right now, Swindon are not actively pursuing a move for Westley, with their priority being on another winger, after Jake Tabor has demonstrated that he is at a level to make an impact on the first team this year, reducing the need for another back-up striker.

With the reported interest from elsewhere, this would make a deal to bring him back unlikely, as others could make a move first.

Speaking in April, Westley said of his future: 'To be honest, I haven't really thought too much about next season just yet, because while I am here, I want to do as much as I can to do as well as I can.
'I will go back to Burnley in pre-season and try and figure things out then, for now it is just about the last few games here to help the team win games and do as well as I can.
'Yes, definitely [I want to continue playing league football next season]. It is a different buzz than you get from playing an under-21s game.
'Walking out in front of 8,000 is a feeling that you can't really replicate in the under-21s.

'So, getting out into the leagues and playing against better players is only going to be beneficial for me in the future.'

Blackpool sign Forest's Taylor on four-year deal

Blackpool have signed forward Dale Taylor from Premier League side Nottingham Forest on a four-year deal with the option of a further year. The 21-year-old has made almost 100 appearances in League One, having had spells on loan with Burton Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, and joins for an undisclosed fee. A Northern Ireland international, Taylor came through Linfield's youth setup before joining Forest in 2020, however, his solitary appearance for the club came in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town in August 2022. "I'm absolutely delighted and excited to be here, as it has been a long time in the making. "I have spoken to the manager quite a bit, and where he wants to take this club is very exciting for me and a real inspiration behind the decision to join this massive club." Taylor is the third player Blackpool have paid a fee for so far this summer, in addition to midfielder Jordan Brown and winger Malcolm Ebiowei.

Antonio to leave West Ham after car crash

Michail Antonio's 10-year spell at West Ham is over after the club decided not to offer the 35-year-old a new contract. The forward has not played since being involved in a serious car accident in December, which left him with a badly broken leg. The Jamaica international has stated his intention to return to action but that will not be with the Hammers. Antonio is the club's all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League and netted 83 times in total during 323 appearances. "Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family," the club said in a statement. "As has been the case since December, the club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation, offering him access to training, facilities and medical care if needed." West Ham confirmed they are still in negotiations with Antonio over a possible non-playing role at the club in the future. Antonio was part of the West Ham side that won the club's first trophy since 1980 when they lifted the Europa Conference League in 2023. "Everyone at West Ham United would like to sincerely thank Michail for his outstanding, dedicated service in a claret and blue shirt over the last ten years," the statement said. kca/jw
