Crypto traders will soon be able to seamlessly access traditional derivatives in Kraken's trading experience, and derivatives traders will be able to access crypto markets on the NinjaTrader platform.
Kraken plans to introduce additional asset classes, including stocks, prediction markets, and options, to both platforms in the future. Last month, Kraken crypto traders began to receive access to commission-free trading for over 11,000 U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs.
NinjaTrader will also leverage Kraken's global network of regulatory licenses and operating platforms to expand its futures services internationally.
Kraken will continue to operate NinjaTrader as a standalone platform under the Kraken suite of trading and payments applications.
PJT Partners served as financial advisor to Kraken, and Jones Day and Lowenstein Sandler served as legal advisors. Jefferies acted as financial advisor to NinjaTrader and Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP served as legal advisors.

Spotify is adding the ability to remotely download playlists to secondary devices
Spotify is rolling out a new feature that lets Premium subscribers remotely download playlists to additional devices. For instance, a user could initiate a download on an iPhone for an iPad or for a backup phone ahead of a trip. That's all fine and good, and useful in limited circumstances. The big news here, however, is that this functionality also works with smartwatches, with integration for Wear OS devices and Apple Watch models. Nothing ruins a good walk or run like forgetting to download a playlist, so this lets people square that away whenever they think of it, even when the secondary device is out of reach. Spotify is also introducing a new "Manage Downloads" button to assist with the aforementioned feature. This button accompanies playlists and provides a list of devices in which a particular batch of songs has been downloaded. That way folks can be sure they aren't reaching Spotify's five-device limit the company places on downloads. This stuff is rolling out right now for users across the globe. It could take a few weeks to reach everyone. A version of this tool has previously been available for Apple Watch users, but this is the first time something like this will be available to those in the Wear OS ecosystem. Spotify has been busy lately. The platform recently opened up an audiobook shop for iOS users and unveiled a dedicated Following feed for podcasts .

SMART USA Institute Launches First Member Solicitation With $50 Million in Funding for Digital Twin Innovation in Semiconductor Manufacturing
BUSINESS WIRE)--The Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA Institute (SMART USA) today announced the release of its first member project solicitation, offering $50 million in combined federal and industry funding to advance digital twin technology for U.S. semiconductor manufacturing competitiveness. Members and non-members who are interested in exploring teaming opportunities for proposal submissions to this $50 million funding opportunity are encouraged to attend the SMART USA Summit in Arlington, VA, being held June 26-27, 2025. The solicitation, released June 11, 2025, invites SMART USA members to submit collaborative proposals for technical development and validation of digital twins, as well as education and workforce development initiatives. Individual awards range from $500,000 to $20 million for projects lasting up to 24 months. "This solicitation represents a critical milestone in our mission to revolutionize semiconductor manufacturing through digital twin technology," said Todd Younkin, Executive Director of SMART USA. "By bringing together the best minds from industry and academia, we're accelerating the development of digital twin innovations that will reduce costs, improve yields, and strengthen America's semiconductor supply chain.' The funding targets five priority areas across technical and workforce development topics: Technical Focus Areas: Using Digital Twins to Optimize Core Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes Digital Twins for Advanced Packaging and System Technology Co-Optimization Digital Twin Validation Across Semiconductor and/or Packaging Technologies Education and Workforce Development Areas: Democratizing Access to Community Colleges and Workforce Programs Establishing Libraries of Educational Content and Training Programs All proposals must involve collaborative teams of at least three distinct organizations from SMART USA's diverse membership, which includes chip manufacturers, equipment providers, software companies, academic institutions, and workforce development organizations. Members and non-members who are interested in exploring teaming opportunities for proposal submissions are encouraged to attend the SMART USA Summit in Arlington, VA, being held June 26-27, 2025. "The collaborative requirement ensures that innovations developed through SMART USA will benefit the entire semiconductor ecosystem," explained Christopher Ritter, Chief Digital Officer at SMART USA. "We're not just funding individual projects – we're building an interconnected network of digital twin capabilities that will transform how semiconductors are designed and manufactured." Projects funded through this solicitation will contribute to SMART USA's ambitious five-year targets, including using digital twins to reduce semiconductor manufacturing costs by more than 35%, improve process development times by 30%, and demonstrate production-level digital twins spanning the entire semiconductor value chain. The solicitation represents SMART USA's unique funding model, which combines federal dollars from the Department of Commerce's CHIPS Research and Development Office with cash and in-kind contributions from industry and academic members. This approach ensures both government and private sector investment in advancing critical semiconductor technologies. "SMART USA's model creates unprecedented opportunities for collaboration between organizations that might otherwise compete," said Tymeeka Middleton, Chief Workforce Officer. "Our education and workforce development projects will train the next generation of engineers and technicians needed to support America's growing semiconductor industry." All technical projects must include educational content development as a core deliverable, ensuring that technological advances are accompanied by corresponding workforce development materials accessible through SMART USA's digital marketplace. Proposals are due August 11, 2025, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Selected projects are expected to begin January 1, 2026. Learn more about joining SMART USA as a member. WWDC 2025: Key New Upgrades Coming To iPhone, iPad And Mac
Apple's World Wide Developers Conference is coming to its end, and there have been a slew of announcements, big and small. For the iPhone, iPad, Mac and more, there were innovations across the board. Here's what caught my eye. WWDC25 For the first time ever, there's an overarching industrial design which will show up on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac and even Apple Watch. Liquid Glass is a subtle but eye-catching overlay. It makes icons look like they're made of sheets of non-reflective glass, it gets involved in button finishes and even how numbers look on a lock screen. Talking of the lock screen, as you swipe up to go to the home screen, check out the bottom left corner of the lock: it has the rainbow reflectivity of real glass. It's awesome. Though there was no big Apple Intelligence announcement this year, but that was always part of the plan, it seems. Apple sees AI as a tool, not a destination. It's a way to make its apps and hardware better. Of course, there were new Apple Intelligence upgrades, but they were permeated through the company's announcements. Like new Genmoji, improved Image Playground and a new way to use Visual Intelligence. But other features are coming which will use AI. Like these features, for instance. A call from an unknown number will go straight to a recording asking the caller to say their name and purpose. That's then presented on screen and you can choose to take the call or not. Similarly, when you're on hold, the iPhone can hold your place in the queue, so you don't have to listen to the hold music (though pity the poor iPhone that does), and reconnect you when a human being returns to the call. Apple's software now has the same number across all platforms. So, iOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11 are now iOS 26, macOS 26 and watchOS 26. The number refers to the year in which the OS will be mostly used. Apple saved the iPad until last in the keynote and you can see why. This is the biggest update the iPad has ever had, adding windows that work so similarly to the Mac that for many people the question, 'Why would I need a Mac?' is now front-and-center. There are folders in the dock, a menu bar that vanishes when you're not using it, and Preview, the highly useful Apple Mac app, comes to iPad.
