Russia accuses Trump of 'opening Pandora's box' with strikes on Iran
United Nations ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told an emergency meeting of the US Security Council that 'no one knows what new catastrophes and suffering it [the attacks] will bring.'
He said Russia offered to mediate an agreeable solution to Iran's nuclear programme, but the US – especially its leaders – are 'clearly not interested in diplomacy today.'
Nebenzia warned: 'Unless we stop the escalation, the Middle East will find itself on the verge of a large scale conflict with unpredictable consequences for the entire international security system, plus the entire world might end up on the verge of a nuclear disaster.'
While the Kremlin's call for restraint may be a little ironic – after all, it is not exactly known for straying away from global provocations – it underscores the level of international alarm following the US attacks.
Israel and Iran continued to trade air and missile strikes overnights as the world braced is bracing for the Islamic Regime's response.
Antagonizing Iran even further, the US president spewed a series of posts on Truth Social about the strikes.
He wrote: 'Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term… The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!'

Trump also confirmed that the 'great' B-2 bomber pilots behind the strikes landed back in Missouri, after he also called for a regime change in Iran. More Trending
'If the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn't there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!,' he said.
Iran's armed forces stressed that the US should expect 'serious consequences' for its strikes.
The attacks have expanded the scope of legitimate targets for Iran's armed forces, a spokesperson for its Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said.
Ebrahim Zolfaqari ended his statement in English: 'Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.'

The reaction came just moments after Putin shook Trump 's hand in their first face-to-face meeting since 2018. One B-2 bomber and four F-35 fighter jets flew above Putin and Trump as they walked to the U.S. president's motorcade waiting for them in Alaska. The Russian leader appeared shocked as the jets took off, pausing his walk to look up overhead. Meanwhile, Trump appeared unfazed as he clapped his hands together in celebration after the jets took off in the sky. The B-2 Bomber is one of the most advanced aircraft in the entire U.S. military arsenal. On Friday afternoon, the two world leaders shook hands after flying into Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. Before arriving at the meeting, Trump told Fox News anchor Bret Baier that he would leave the summit 'very quickly' if he believed a deal could not be made with Putin. After shaking Trump's hand, Putin joined the president in his 'Beast' vehicle rather than departing in his own Russian motorcade.

The Russian president appeared to become annoyed at questions thrown at him before negotiations with US President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska. Earlier, Putin told Trump 'I am here to help you' and 'I will bring it to a rest' as they met on the tarmac at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base . The pair are meeting in the remote US state to discuss bringing an end to the Russia-Ukraine war which has been raging for more than three years. Journalists asked Putin: 'Mr Putin, will you agree to a ceasefire?' and 'Mr Putin, will you commit to not kill any more civilians?' The UN has concluded that Russian forces have committed war crimes against civilians in Ukraine. More Trending The Russian military has killed and Ukrainian civilians living in an area stretching over 100 kilometres along the Dnipro River, a report published by the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine said in May this year. The Commission called the drone attacks widespread, systematic and 'conducted as part of a coordinated state policy'. They said nearly 150 civilians were killed and hundreds more injured in the mentioned area. Russia has denied all allegations of war crimes or targeting civilians. Trump 'allows Putin to take the dominant position' in first handshake in Alaska
US President Donald Trump let his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin 'take the dominant position' in a handshake initiating their summit on Ukraine, a body language expert said. Trump stood on a red carpet in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday with his right palm up and extended with Putin walking up to him still two arm lengths away. With that gesture, Trump signaled he was unarmed and offered friendship, body language expert Susan Constantine told Metro. 'I am putting my palm up allowing you to take the dominant position,' Constantine explained. She noted that 'Putin stays in his same position, in his solid ground, so he doesn't lean in and holds his position'. Though Trump allowed Putin to take the top position in the handshake, it does not mean he was being submissive, said Constantine, who is certified in the Facial Action Coding System.
