DGP urges cops to stay abreast with new tech in crime detection
Hyderabad: To enhance the efficiency of crime detection and criminal tracking across the state, the Telangana State Director General of Police Dr Jitender emphasised the need to adopt advanced methods under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).
Dr Jitender stated that new tools and techniques being introduced under CCTNS should be effectively utilised to track offenders involved in diverse criminal activities.
On Tuesday, at a video conference held at the DGP Office with all District Superintendents of Police and Commissioners, the DGP reviewed the ongoing implementation of the CCTNS project. During the meeting, he highlighted the importance of senior officers actively using the system, thereby setting an example for personnel at the field level to follow suit.
The DGP stressed the need for widespread adoption of digital features such as E-Summons and E-Sakshya, underlining that the vast data and information generated through CCTNS will prove to be extremely useful for policing efforts.
Dr Jitender said that the Telangana Police is recognised nationally for its extensive distribution of computers and connected equipment under the ICJS scheme, which significantly supports the CCTNS infrastructure.
Further, he pointed out that the evaluation and selection of best-performing police stations are now being facilitated through the CCTNS platform. DGP instructed all SPs and Commissioners to ensure its effective usage and to supervise its implementation at all levels.
The DGP reiterated the importance of lower-level staff setting benchmarks in CCTNS usage, thereby strengthening the state's overall policing capabilities.
Additional Director General of Police (Technical Services), VV Srinivasa Rao, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mahesh M Bhagwat, DCPs (L&O) and others participated in the video conference.

Some of the affidavit forms include clauses threatening fines for violations while in some cases, indemnity bonds have also been demanded. Systemic Persecution Of Ahmadis In Pakistan Pakistan's 2 million-strong Ahmadiyya community has long faced systematic persecution. A constitutional amendment in 1974 declared Ahmadis non-Muslim and the 1984 Ordinance XX criminalised their religious practices, including saying Islamic greetings, calling places of worship mosques, or reciting the Quran. According to Amnesty International, at least 36 cases of arbitrary arrests targeting Ahmadis for performing Eid sacrifices were reported in Punjab in June 2024 alone. Punjab Police arrest another YouTuber for alleged espionage ties with Pakistan's ISI
After YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra 's arrest, the Punjab Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested another YouTuber namely, Jasbir Singh alias Jaan Mahal (41) from Rupnagar in Punjab. He was allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and had connections with Malhotra. The duo was also seen at Pakistan's High Commission at New Delhi, police said. Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Wednesday said Jaan Mahal has been operating a YouTube channel 'JaanMahal Video' with over 11 lakh subscribers, posting travel and cooking vlogs. Yadav said that the accused Jasbir Singh has been found associated with Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, part of a terror-backed espionage network. He maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra-arrested for spying by the Haryana Police, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pak High Commission official. He said investigations have revealed that Jasbir attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. "The accused has also travelled to Pakistan on three occasions, including in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and came in direct contact with ISI officers, who subsequently cultivated and recruited him to carry out espionage activities within India," he added. The DGP said that after Jyoti Malhotra's arrest, Jasbir had attempted to erase all traces of his communication with these PIOs to avoid detection. DM reviews preparations for Bakrid
Patna: DM Thiyagarajan SM and SSP Avkash Kumar on Wednesday directed the officials to strengthen and activate intelligence networks and undertake special precautionary measures at sensitive locations on Bakrid, which is likely to be on June 7. The two officials were addressing a meeting to review law and order preparations for the upcoming festival. Directives were issued to all SDOs and SDPOs to organise peace committee meetings. The officials were instructed to ensure strict surveillance on anti-social elements, keep the social media monitoring cell active. The DM said, "In view of administrative preparations and smooth conduct of the prayers, entry for the general public to the Gandhi Maidan will be restricted from June 5 evening, until the conclusion of the festival." Those coming to offer prayers with vehicles will enter through gate no. 5 and 10. Parking facilities will be available inside the ground. Pedestrians will enter through gate nos. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The DM directed timely completion of all necessary arrangements at the Gandhi Maidan. The officials were ordered to keep all CCTV cameras at the Gandhi Maidan ready, besides deputation of doctors, paramedical staff, and ambulances. Suggestions were also taken from Mahmood Alam, president of the Namaz-e-Edain committee, and other committee members. The DM stated that as the nodal officer, additional district magistrate of disaster management will coordinate with Alam. A temporary police station will also be operational at Gandhi Maidan for security purposes.
