Gujarat mandates female cops on girls' school trips to boost safety
AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Police has mandated the presence of two uniformed policemen on all school trips, linking security directly to student safety. When female students are involved, the directive tightens to require female officers alongside their male counterparts. This move aims to safeguard students during educational outings while strengthening ties between youth and law enforcement. Following directives from the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister at the recent DGP-IGP Conference-2024, Gujarat's State Police Chief Vikas Sahay has announced a stringent new safety protocol. Effective immediately, all school-organised trips, tours, picnics, and visits across government, semi-government, and private institutions must include the presence of two uniformed policemen. The rule intensifies when girl students are involved, mandating the accompaniment of women police officers to ensure their protection, says DGP Office Official Press Release.

Airports closed, schools shut in border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab following Operation Sindoor; UP on high alert
NEW DELHI: In light of escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border following Indian armed forces' missile strikes on terror camps , authorities in Punjab and Rajasthan have ordered the closure of schools in multiple border districts as a precautionary measure.A high alert has been issued across all border regions of Rajasthan. Additionally, authorities have ordered the closure of airports in Bikaner and Jodhpur as a precautionary measure.A red alert has been issued across Uttar Pradesh following Operation Sindoor . The DGP Office posted that all field formations of the UP Police have been directed to coordinate closely with Defence units and bolster the security of vital installations. 'UP Police remains alert, equipped and fully prepared to ensure the safety of every citizen. Jai Hind!' the post Punjab, schools were shut across five border districts — Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, and Gurdaspur on move came hours after India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Jaish-e-Mohammad's base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's hub in Muridke, in retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre that killed 26 confirmed that the Ferozepur deputy commissioner had issued an order to keep all schools in the district closed for the day. Similarly, in Pathankot, schools will remain shut for the next 72 hours. Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Fazilka districts also followed suit by closing all educational in Rajasthan, an official told PTI that all government and private schools in the border districts of Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer have been closed as a safety measure. 'Schools have been closed and all the preparations for the mock drills have been completed,' the official closure comes amid a heightened state of alert in these districts, which lie along the international border. Rajasthan, a key strategic state, shares a 1,070 km-long boundary with Pakistan.

DGP urges cops to stay abreast with new tech in crime detection
Hyderabad: To enhance the efficiency of crime detection and criminal tracking across the state, the Telangana State Director General of Police Dr Jitender emphasised the need to adopt advanced methods under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS). Dr Jitender stated that new tools and techniques being introduced under CCTNS should be effectively utilised to track offenders involved in diverse criminal activities. On Tuesday, at a video conference held at the DGP Office with all District Superintendents of Police and Commissioners, the DGP reviewed the ongoing implementation of the CCTNS project. During the meeting, he highlighted the importance of senior officers actively using the system, thereby setting an example for personnel at the field level to follow suit. The DGP stressed the need for widespread adoption of digital features such as E-Summons and E-Sakshya, underlining that the vast data and information generated through CCTNS will prove to be extremely useful for policing efforts. Dr Jitender said that the Telangana Police is recognised nationally for its extensive distribution of computers and connected equipment under the ICJS scheme, which significantly supports the CCTNS infrastructure. Further, he pointed out that the evaluation and selection of best-performing police stations are now being facilitated through the CCTNS platform. DGP instructed all SPs and Commissioners to ensure its effective usage and to supervise its implementation at all levels. The DGP reiterated the importance of lower-level staff setting benchmarks in CCTNS usage, thereby strengthening the state's overall policing capabilities. Additional Director General of Police (Technical Services), VV Srinivasa Rao, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mahesh M Bhagwat, DCPs (L&O) and others participated in the video conference.
