Jaipur: Shri Govind Dev Ji temple turned into a hub of devotion and colour Saturday as devotees tied rakhis to the deity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. The temple saw a heavy turnout, with worshippers arriving in large numbers to seek blessings.
Across Jaipur, markets bustled with festive energy. Women thronged stalls selling rakhis priced between Rs 10 and Rs 300, along with sweets and coconuts, while many got mehndi applied, adding to the celebratory spirit. Shops in the Walled City were adorned with rakhi-themed decorations, attracting steady footfall.
The festival rush extended beyond markets to transport hubs. On Friday, Jaipur railway station and Sindhi Camp bus stand were packed, while Saturday saw a surge in women passengers on Roadways buses.
Special Raksha Bandhan trains and buses were operated by Railways and Roadways, yet the demand outpaced supply. Gandhi Nagar and Jaipur railway stations, along with Sindhi Camp, Tonk Road, and Transport Nagar bus stands, witnessed long queues of travellers heading home.
Adding a symbolic gesture, Railway Protection Force personnel tied rakhis to passengers at the station, promoting the festival's message of care and protection.

Noida man misses train home on Raksha Bandhan, slams cab drivers: netizens say he should have left early on rainy day

Festivals are closely connected to family and loved ones, and living away from family to work in another city comes with emotional challenges. In one such instance, a man from Noida recently shared a post describing how he missed his train, which he had booked to travel home for Raksha Bandhan. Slamming cab service platforms such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido, the man, on Reddit, said he missed his train scheduled for August 9 due to heavy rain, because of which cab drivers kept cancelling his ride requests. 'Today on 9th aug 2025 I had a train from Ghaziabad railway station in the afternoon, woke up early , packed my bag , informed my family i will be coming today , i was so excited to go home and celebrate with them, but when i started booking my ride from ola, uber and rapido , there was no response , tried 15 minutes with all the prices i could but no one picked my ride, it was raining outside, i took my bike and went outside so that might find any auto or uber driver sitting , i did find uber drivers outside but none accepted to come they were all slacking in there cabs,' the post read. He further requested cab drivers to fetch him to the Ghaziabad railway station; however, they refused. 'i requested so much still they were like ' bhaiyaa kal se soya nhi hu mujhe sona hai' and some just nodded 'no' then when 30 min were remaining to catch the train i got an auto driver idle , asked him if he will drop me to the station , he said 'no I won't go just came from there and there is too much traffic given the time frame , there is no way you will reach on time ', So, yes this is what happened with me today. Over population sucks, government not being able to create an infra to handle this population sucks, being away from home in another city to earn a living sucks!' he added. 'I feel sorry for you bro, rain has played the spoil sport today in Delhi Ncr . Many areas are waterlogged and so many areas of noida are even facing power cuts, a user wrote. 'This is poor planning on your part. No use blaming the world for your stupidity. It's not like you didn't know it was raining since early morning. You could've left early. But no, you chose to be complacent. Then, you could've spoken to taxi agency rather than these app based services. But no, you were living under a rock and suddenly woke up to reality,' another user commented.

103% rise in booking e-tickets in Khurda Road rly division in 1st quarter: Data

Bhubaneswar: Use of paperless general and platform tickets through the unreserved ticketing system (UTS) on the mobile platform has seen a 103% rise in the first quarter of 2025-26 compared to the similar period in 2024-25, according to latest data released by the Khurda Road railway division. The railway division oversees major stations like Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda and Berhampur. From April to June, the division issued 1.83 lakh paperless general and platform tickets, compared to 90,005 tickets issued in the first quarter of 2024-25. "Because of the rise in booking paperless tickets, stations are now witnessing a reduction in queues for unreserved tickets at booking counters," said an official. During 2024-25, the division issued 5.35 lakh paperless general and platform tickets through the UTS on mobile, serving over 22.41 lakh passengers and generating a revenue of Rs 4.76 crore.
