Cops nab 33-year-old suspect, seize RM1.6mil worth of drugs in Batu Pahat
BATU PAHAT: Police have seized more than RM1.6mil worth of drugs and arrested a 33-year-old during a raid on a house in a residential area here.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the suspect was arrested at about 7.45pm on May 7 in a house at Taman Sri Mulia here.
'The suspect, who was found with over RM1.6mil worth of drugs, tested negative for drugs and does not have any criminal record.
'The house we raided is believed to have been used as a place for the suspect to store and pack the drugs before distributing them to the local market.
'We believe that he has been running the operation alone since April this year,' he said in a statement here on Saturday (May 17).
ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said the drugs seized include some 9,465g of ecstasy worth RM1.58mil and 460g of ketamine worth RM23,000.
"The drugs seized are believed to be enough to feed the addiction of about 47,000 users.
'We have also seized a vehicle worth RM40,000 and RM5,000 in cash,' he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of Malaysia's Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
