Saiyaara box office collection day 19: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda's romantic film beats Padmaavat after crossing Rs 500 cr mark
Mohit Suri's romantic film Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is slowly but surely registering growth at the box office. On the day its worldwide collection crossed the coveted Rs 500 crore mark, the film achieved another triumph back home. With domestic earnings at Rs 304.6 crore after 19 days of release, the movie has now surpassed another all-time Hindi blockbuster. On Tuesday, Saiyaara earned Rs 2.5 crore, a marginal improvement on its Monday collection of Rs 2.35 crore. Saiyaara has now surpassed Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 period drama Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor. The movie earned Rs 302.15 crore at the Indian box office. Saiyaara will likely beat its next target — Kabir Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor — by this weekend. According to production banner Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara has also become the 'highest grossing love story in the history of Indian cinema.' It's an interesting update to come from YRF since it also delivered one of the most celebrated romantic films of all time, Aditya Chopra's 1995 directorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. 'With Saiyaara, Mohit Suri hit his first 500 crore worldwide blockbuster and Ahaan-Aneet became the first debutants in the history of Indian cinema to enter the coveted ₹500 crore club when it comes to worldwide collections! Total overseas collection is now at a monstrous ₹507 crore gross is 18 days,' the banner said in a statement. 'As a company, we share this historic success with the captain of the ship, Mohit Suri, who has given this generation a defining love story they can call their own, the incredible debutants Ahaan & Aneet who made the world feel love on screen through their brilliant acting, Aditya Chopra for his unwavering guidance, the entire cast and crew of Saiyaara and everyone at YRF for their invaluable contribution towards making this film into a global phenomenon,' said YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. Calling the movie a 'pure love story', Widhani said the film's success proves that the romance genre gets the most love from audiences if offered the right story. 'We are humbled with this success story and it fuels us to look for the next film that can break out and make India proud globally. It's deeply encouraging to see young audiences lead the way in embracing this film, disproving doubts about their theatrical participation. Thank you to every viewer, everywhere, for making Saiyaara the defining love story of our time,' he added. Mahavatar Narasimha box office collection day 12: Word-of-mouth sensation crosses Rs 100 cr mark, overtakes Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2
When Hombale Films, the production house behind the KGF movies, joined hands with Ashwin Kumar's Kleem Productions to distribute its first-ever film, Mahavatar Narasimha, they probably didn't imagine the magic it will create at the box office. The animated film, produced by Kleem Productions and directed by its founder Ashwin, is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 15 crore. The budget was recovered in the first weekend itself, as the film made Rs 16 crore. But then, something unexpected happened. Word-of-mouth took over, and the film witnessed a sharp growth in collections. It made Rs 44.75 crore in its first week. On its second Sunday, the film saw a jump of over 150% compared to its first Sunday and collected Rs 23.1 crore. Despite the release of films like Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2, the animated film, inspired by the legend of Narasimha (which shows the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu) is steady at the box office with a collection of Rs 7.9 crore on Tuesday. Of this total, Rs 5.25 crore came from its Hindi version. Meanwhile, new Hindi releases Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 collected as less as Rs 1.75 crore and Rs 2.76 crore , respectively, on the same day. ALSO READ | Kareena Kapoor made a 'big mistake' when she let go of Priyanka Chopra's role in Aitraaz, reveals producer: 'She chose the heroine's part, wanted to glide easily' According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Ashwin Kumar directorial film sold about 12k tickets every hour due to good word of mouth after opening at Rs 2.15 crore on its first day. Now, the film has over 4000 shows across India with over 2050 3D shows in Hindi and Telugu and over 2000 shows in 2D in both the languages. The number of shows in Kannada and Malayalam is not reported. With the increase in the number of shows across India, the animated film stands at a total collection of Rs 106.05 crore. The number of shows given to Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's film is 2237, and 1383 to Siddhant Chaturvedi's Dhadak 2. Both films are made on higher budgets and are a part of ongoing franchises. With no big releases scheduled for this weekend, chances are Ashwin Kumar's film will soon hit the Rs 150 crore mark if it continues its momentum. The movie is expected to spawn a franchise itself.
