Vestas Shares Jump as U.S. Tax Rules Ease Up

Vestas Wind Systems (VWDRY) got a big boost Monday after Washington finally laid out how clean energy tax credits will work and the news was nowhere near as harsh as investors had braced for. The U.S. has been a tricky market for Vestas ever since President Donald Trump's policies cooled momentum for renewables. Management said last week that clarity around Trump's tax bill had already helped unclog orders, and now the final guidance looks like the last major hurdle has been cleared. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with VWDRY. Analysts breathed a sigh of relief. Jefferies called the outcome close to the best possible compared with early talks. Citi said the rules turned out to be far more lenient than expected, while RBC noted the news was fairly positive against fears of tighter restrictions. For investors, this changes the picture. Instead of policy risk hanging over one of Vestas' biggest markets, the company now has a clearer runway for new orders and demand recovery. This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Dayforce Shares Pop on Report of Talks With Private Equity Firm Thoma Bravo

Key Takeaways Dayforce is reportedly discussing a sale to private equity firm Thoma Bravo. Bloomberg said a deal could be announced within a few weeks. Shares of Dayforce took off on the news, but they remain lower year-to-date. Dayforce (DAY) shares soared more than 20% on indications that private equity firm Thoma Bravo is in talks to purchase the human resources software provider. Bloomberg reported that people familiar with the matter indicated that an agreement could be reached in as soon as a few weeks. They added that while the discussions are in the advanced stage, they could be delayed or stumble, and another suitor might emerge. In a note to investors, analysts at Jefferies noted that considering Dayforce's stock had lost 28% year-to-date as of Friday's close and the depressed valuation, "we are not surprised by PE interest.' The analysts added they also wouldn't be surprised to see Dayforce trying to sell because of the weakness in the stock price. They explained that it has been 'tough sledding' for the company since the shares' post-COVID highs, and they have underperformed the entire HR software group since the firm's April 2018 initial public offering. Investopedia has reached out to Dayforce and Thoma Bravo for comment. Even with today's gains, shares of Dayforce remain down 9% this year. Aleon Metals obtains $188m debtor-in-possession financing

Aleon Metals, a critical mineral recycling and production company, has secured $188m in debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing. The company has also voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 relief in the Southern District of Texas' US Bankruptcy Court. The financing will enable Aleon to maintain operations, invest in its facilities in Freeport, Texas, and continue supplying critical minerals vital for US industries and national security. The restructuring process includes an agreement for a 'free-and-clear' sale under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code, with the consortium of DIP lenders acting as the 'stalking horse bidder'. Investment banker Jefferies will market the business to ensure a competitive auction, inviting higher or better offers to achieve the best outcome for Aleon's employees, customers, stakeholders and community. Chief restructuring officer Roy Gallagher said: 'This is a pivotal step in Aleon's journey. With fresh capital, strong stakeholder support and a competitive process under way, Aleon is positioned to enhance its Freeport operations and continue providing critical minerals that are essential to America's future." Aleon's $188m financing ensures the company's continuity, with uninterrupted operations and full wages and benefits for employees. The investment will also enhance the Freeport facilities, expanding production and strengthening US supply chains. The company has submitted 'first day' motions for court approval to continue its operations smoothly, including paying employee wages and benefits. Aleon anticipates quick court approval and plans to operate normally during the restructuring. Legal counsel Morrison & Foerster, investment banker Jefferies, restructuring advisor Ankura Consulting Group and Texas restructuring counsel Norton Rose Fulbright are supporting the company through this transition. Aleon Metals CEO Tarun Bhatt said: 'We have worked diligently to streamline our operations and position Aleon for continued growth. 'Now more than ever, offering a sustainable, domestic alternative to foreign-sourced critical minerals is essential. This process enables us to invest further in GMR [Gladieux Metals Recycling] and ARM [Aleon Renewable Metals], accelerate innovation and secure Aleon's role as a long-term leader in US critical mineral supply, while continuing to support local jobs, play a positive role in the community and advance environmental sustainability for future generations."
