Woman makes ‘stinky' boiled egg dinner on packed flight
A woman has been mercilessly mocked after filming herself assembling a full meal – including boiled eggs – during a long-haul flight from Los Angeles to Paris.
Jess Marra, 33, set the internet alight earlier this month after bringing a stash of prepacked containers to make a DIY on-board dinner during a 10-hour flight.
'What started as a fun travel moment turned into the international egg scandal of the year,' Jess said, after her video racked up more than 1.5 million views on Instagram and was flooded with thousands of angry comments.
In the now-viral video, Jess can be seen unpacking her carefully prepped ingredients which included ziploc bags of dressing and avocado, before assembling a full-blown salad in her window seat.
The LA digital marketing worker filmed herself aggressively shaking her salad and even peeling avocados in the crammed economy space.
Naturally, many viewers weren't impressed – especially over her choice of protein.
'New fear unlocked: I get on a plane and the person next to me starts making an egg salad,' one horrified user wrote.
'Just because you can eat an egg on a flight doesn't mean you should,' agreed another.
'Between the egg, the elbow jabbing into your neighbour, the salad shaking and the 'influencing', I am 100 per cent annoyed and I'm not on the plane. Just be a normal person and stop trying to gain attention,' a third person fumed.
Jess, however, hit back, saying she took care not to disturb anyone around her.
'Despite what the internet thinks, I was discreet in my window seat and kept everything low-key,' she said.
'When the flight attendant came around for meal service I politely declined, and once everyone around me was settled eating, I got to work. No one on the flight seemed to notice or care.'
'The comments were brutal,' Jess said.
'People were yelling at me for being selfish, inconsiderate, endangering the lives of passengers, and just generally being the worst human ever. I was kind of in shock.'
She insists the eggs weren't actually smelly, explaining she deliberately undercooks them to avoid any odour.
'Was it a little weird I assembled a salad at my seat? Sure,' she admitted.
'Is it the end of the world that I ate an egg on a plane? Certainly not!'
She was quick to point out the double standards, saying eggs are a common ingredient in plane meals anyway.
'Hard boiled eggs are sold in every airport convenience store and even at Starbucks for people to eat during flights,' she said.
'Plane food has a strong odour and, many times, eggs are included in the meal service as well. It's not like I unwrapped a tuna melt or started microwaving salmon mid-flight!'
In the end, Jess says she was just trying to enjoy a decent meal on a tight schedule.
'The internet really ran with it,' she said, 'but in reality, I'm just a hungry girl trying to eat my dinner.'

But we brought it back to this idea of Hollywood, the machinations of Hollywood, making everything distorted for people. 'It's hard to find love in a hopeless place.' Depp and Heard first met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary, which was filmed in Puerto Rico. The book shared that when Depp first met Heard in his office, he took one look at her and thought, 'Yep … That's the one … she could definitely kill me.' While Heard already had a girlfriend, Hawaiian artist and model Tasya van Ree, Depp would later remark to director Bruce Robinson, 'Don't worry, no leading lady of mine stays gay for very long.' When van Ree returned to Los Angeles, one crew member on set claimed Depp and Heard became 'locked into that death dance.' A 'mutual infatuation' quickly unfolded. A passionate kissing scene appeared to blur lines. 'It didn't feel like a normal scene,' Heard later admitted. 'It felt real.' The Rum Diary opened to mixed reviews and was a flop at the box office. In 2012, Depp and long-term partner Vanessa Paradis announced their separation. The book shared that while they'd never married, Depp reportedly gave the French singer and model $100 million in the separation. While Depp and Heard reportedly dated on and off throughout 2012, Depp vowed not to let someone like Heard 'slip through his fingers.' According to the book, as the pair's relationship grew more serious, Depp 'drifted further away from his small and trusted network of family, friends and staff.' In 2014, Heard was spotted wearing an engagement ring. By then, bitter fights were already occurring within the relationship, the book claimed. 'Members of Johnny's inner circle pleaded with Johnny to get a prenup,' the book says. 'They said he initially agreed to do so but then dropped it and announced he was getting married anyway.' Leading up to the wedding, Witkin spent time with Depp in the recording studio. That's when Depp said Heard wanted to get married quickly. She pointed out that Depp was starting to film the next Pirates of the Caribbean film, which required a six-month shoot in Australia. He would have to live there full-time while filming, and she wanted stability in their relationship. 'She wanted to get it over with,' Witkin recalled. '[His sister] Christi [Dembrowski] was there, and we both told him, 'So what? You don't have to do it. Don't do it.' We're trying to tell him, 'Don't do this until you get a prenup.' And Johnny kind of says to Christie, 'Well, you tell her.' Christi cried and tried to convince Johnny not to go ahead with it. I tried to convince him too.' 'Most of the people in Johnny's life were aware of the red flags in the relationship,' the book states. 'In the early days, Jerry Judge, Johnny's late chief of security, would tell [Depp's assistant] Stephen [Deuters] and [his wife Gina] about having to separate Johnny and Amber so they'd stop arguing. Whenever Amber travelled with Johnny, his team always rented out an extra hotel room in case a fight broke out, and they needed to be sent to their own corners.' 'It was hard to see because we knew him in his prior relationships, and it was never like that,' said Gina, as quoted in the book. 'Voices weren't raised. It was such a stark difference with Amber. But if that's what they want, then you're going to support them, and you're going to hope that it works out, and hope they find peace and happiness.' The couple separated in 2016, but it was only the beginning of a very public breakdown of their relationship. Less than a week after filing for divorce, Heard filed a domestic restraining order against her husband on grounds of domestic abuse charges, People magazine reported. Just one day ahead of their scheduled restraining order hearing, they reached a $7 million settlement in their divorce, the outlet reported. Their divorce was finalised in 2017. Depp said he was libelled by Heard when she wrote a 2018 op-ed piece describing herself as a 'public figure representing domestic abuse.' His lawyers said he was defamed by the article even though it never mentioned his name because, they argued, it referenced abuse allegations Heard had made against Depp during divorce proceedings. Heard said she was defamed by Depp when one of his lawyers called her abuse allegations a 'hoax.' A high-profile trial ensued in 2022 in which the exes accused each other of physical and verbal abuse. The jury awarded Depp $10 million in damages but also awarded $2 million to Heard. Depp's camp said the deal includes a $1 million payment from her to him to settle all financial claims. 'They both moved on and want to put this behind them and don't want to be tied their entire lives to this trial,' Loudenberg told Fox News Digital. 'Sadly, they might not be able to escape that fate,' Wholey added. 'This was such a huge thing. Anytime one of their names is printed, or there's some mention of the trial or something like that, they're together. Both largely don't live here anymore in the US. I think they're just trying to move on.'

In a viral video, which features the Perth woman sitting in the back seat of a car, she proudly shows off her 'present' for a children's birthday party: a bag filled with rags, cleaning supplies, tea towels, dishwashing detergent, and Glad Wrap. 'We're going to a family birthday party and the last thing I wanna do to the parents of the child is to give them some present for the kid that's going to end up in landfill, and a whole bunch of clutter that needs tidying and cleaning, so this is my secret present that I like to do at kids birthday parties,' she begins. 'I like to bring a bag of rags,' she says proudly, whipping it out to show her followers. 'So you know when you're at a kid's birthday party and everyone wants to help but nobody knows how to help because they don't know where any of the cleaning stuff is. 'I bring cleaning rags to wipe up sticky messes at the party. I bring Glad Wrap … so you can wrap up extra food and put it in the fridge. 'I like to bring dishwashing detergent because you can bet that the parents may have run out … I bring a lot of tea towels because these are really handy and nobody knows where to find the tea towels in somebody else's house.' She then finished her video by asking her followers, 'Does anyone else do like that?' The video quickly went viral, and it was immediately clear that nobody else does that. 'I run a pretty tight ship and if someone brought this to my house at my daughter's birthday … I would take offence to it. As if they thought my house was gross,' added one mum. 'I can confidently predict most Aussie mums would relish having this woman at their child's birthday party. She sounds like a 'make it happen' woman,' she tells However, she notes that context is key here. 'If she had a child with her, who was the actual/main invited guest to this party, it would be poor etiquette to show up with a 'bag of rags' and no fun gift for the child,' she explains. 'However, it appears this woman is a bit more mature, is perhaps an older aunty, or even a grandmother.' 'What she's saying is true: families are usually swamped with loads of plastic toys on a child's birthday … and while the birthday boy/girl certainly deserves a few fun gifts, bringing something different, but helpful, is actually a very thoughtful gesture,' she says. Ms Hayes points out that the actual gift here isn't the physical bag of rags but the elbow grease she would provide. 'She isn't simply showing up with the cleaning items,' she explains. An American woman has upset fellow travellers after she prepared a meal including boiled eggs during a long-haul flight earlier this month. Jess Marra embarked on the ten-hour journey from Los Angeles to Paris equipped with ziplock bags and containers full of prepared ingredients to assemble an alternative meal during the flight.
