Here are the 10 best hotels in the world, according to Tripadvisor – and one is in London
The travel platform analysed 12 months of review data from over 1.6 million hotels listed on the site to identify the highest rated hotels in the world for 2025.
Winners span 10 categories from the definitive Top Hotels, through to All-Inclusive, B&Bs and Inns, Family-Friendly, Luxury, Small and Boutique and Pet-Friendly.
Three new subcategories have also been announced this year: One of a Kind, Treat Yourself and a special one-off 25th anniversary list.
In total, over 100 UK hotels were named Best of the Best this year, with 11 placing on world lists.
Claiming the title of the number one hotel in the world for 2025 is Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya in Tulum, Mexico, which also secured the world number one spot in the All-Inclusive and Treat Yourself categories.
Reviewers remarked on the resort's impressive spa and wellness centre and selection of pools.
In second place came Vietnam 's Grandvrio Ocean Resort Danang, with India 's Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach resort following in third.
In sixth place – and the UK's top hotel – is St. Ermin's Hotel in London, which was ranked second in Europe and sixth in the world.
Located in the heart of St James, the hotel is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection.
Of the top 10 hotels in the UK, six were in London, with other winners found in Oxfordshire, Jersey, Derry and Liverpool.
And in the new One of a Kind category, which aims to highlight the world's most unique properties, Edinburgh's Fingal Hotel – a converted Northern Lighthouse Board ship – was ranked the UK's number one.

Chicken Katsu Curry at the Greedy Bear, Newport Market
Hence, I decided to take a trip to Newport Market and see what tongue-sizzling delights were on offer. After noticing that The Greedy Bear had a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 on Tripadvisor from around 70 reviews, I felt confident this establishment would not disappoint me. The Chicken Katsu Curry was delightful. (Image: Newsquest) And indeed, it didn't. As the old saying goes, 'You eat with your eyes first' and the moment my Chicken Katsu Curry arrived at my table, I knew I was going to be very satisfied. The presentation was gorgeous. It was so colourful and striking that I almost didn't want to ruin it with my fork. The white rice next to the orange carrots, red chills, green salad and brown katsu sauce was simply divine. However, I wasted little time before chowing down on my meal. The first thing I noticed was how piping hot it was, and this heat was accentuated by the chilli's which gave the curry a lovely, spicy kick. Newport Market has a summer vibe. (Image: Newsquest) But I wouldn't say the heat was anything crazy, so even if you're a bit apprehensive when it comes to spicy food, your unlikely to get heartburn. There was a decent amount of chicken, but I wouldn't have complained if there was a tad more. Regardless, the meat was well-cooked and nicely seasoned. As for the rice, this had a pleasant sticky texture which allowed it to mix well with the katsu sauce and the other ingredients. The sauce itself was salty and flavoursome, exactly what you want from a classic Japanese meal. In terms of the atmosphere, Newport Market has got to be one of the coolest, trendiest places to enjoy a meal in the city. There is plenty of seating and the area just screams summer vibes with an on-site bar and a range of other restaurants you can try. I previously tried Mexican food at Bab Haus Mex and The Greedy Bear was just as good. Lastly, my meal cost £12.50 in total which is standard for a sizeable lunch nowadays.

An avid traveller who has visited up to 40 European destinations has revealed one of their favourite 'underrated' spots – and it's one of the cheapest to explore It's the time of year when a European city break or long getaway is on the cards for us Brits. After travelling around the continent and visiting up to 40 destinations, a travel content creator, known online as @muzzabroad, has shared with fellow sunseekers what they believe to be " Europe's best hidden gem". A number of reasons lead to this view, so much so they even claim to "reconsider" their favourite overall destination on the continent. North Macedonia is a landlocked country in Southeast Europe, often unexplored by holidaymakers, who seem to be missing out on its natural beauty, affordable activities and rich history. Bordering Brit hot spots like Greece and the ever-growing-in-popularity Albania, this country offers all the sunshine of these holiday destinations, minus the tourists and the price tag. The traveller claimed this country is super affordable compared to the likes of Southeast Asia, known for its cheap beer, food and transport. In fact, they wrote it was "one of the cheapest countries I've ever visited". In addition to this, a big perk about North Macedonia is its access to turquoise blue waters, despite being landlocked, with the likes of Lake Matka and Lake Orchid. The creator described it as having "the kind of landscape you would expect in Thailand, but with that European charm". A TripAdvisor review couldn't help but boast about their beautiful day spent discovering the lesser-known Lake Matka, in the country's capital, Skopje. They wrote: "This place is an amazing natural gem in Skopje. The combination of water and big cliffs, rocks, and forest in one place. Really breathtaking experience... the nature is more than words can describe." Outside of its natural beauty, you can uncover even more gems in Skopje by visiting the Old Bazaar. This is a traditional Turkish-style market made up of countless stalls and rich in history that dates back to the 12th century. For those wanting to see even more culture, the Stone Bridge is an impressive structure built over the Vardar River in the capital and originates from the Ottoman period. When it comes to eating and drinking your way around the country, your average beer price is at 120.00 Macedonian Denar, which converts to roughly £1.69 for a pint, according to Wise. Not only this, but the site reports that a meal for two people, made up of three courses at a mid-range restaurant, would only set you back roughly £21. Others who once visited the hidden gem of a country were quick to share their positive experiences in the comments of the now viral travel video. One user wrote: "Absolutely loved it! It was my bf's and my first vacation together, and the people were so incredibly nice! The food, architecture, nightlife and nature were absolutely amazing."
