The best hotels in Asia for 2025, according to TripAdvisor
So, you're planning a summer holiday in Asia, but where to stay? If Vietnam, India, the Maldives, Indonesia, or Cambodia are your target destinations, then you're in luck, because they're home to some of the best hotels in the region – according to TripAdvisor at least. Booking platform TripAdvisor has just announced the winners of its Travellers' Choice Awards Best of the Best 2025. Among the categories is a ranking of the best hotels in Asia, awarded to properties with a high volume of "above-and-beyond reviews and opinions" from TripAdvisor users over a 12-month period. Fewer than 1 percent of the listings of TripAdvisor's 8-million-strong database manage this, so you can bet they're legit. Grandvrio Ocean Resort Danang in Vietnam emerged as the best hotel in Asia for 2025. It's located in Dien Ban in Quang Nam Province, a coastal town just between its better-known neighbours, Danang and Hoi An. This resort is lavish, with modern pool villas dotted across a spacious, plant-filled compound close to the beach. Something unique that TripAdvisor reviewers loved: a Japanese-style onsen bath where you can soak your stresses away. Two hotels in India come next on the list: Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach, an elegant seafront resort in the coastal town of Kovalam, and Chandys Windy Woods, a hilltop hotel with fascinating guest experiences like forest tours, bird-watching walks, and trekking in the surrounding tea plantations. These are good representations of India's diverse appeals. No surprises that hotels in the Maldives also made the list – it's the ultimate tropical beach getaway – with Siyam World Maldives coming in at No. 4. This all-inclusive resort has 16 accommodation categories such as water villas, two-bedroom lagoon villas and sprawling beach residences (some with slides and direct beach access!). TripAdvisor reviewers say it's a paradise for families, with plenty of activities like horse riding, water obstacle courses, and electric go-kart to keep the young ones busy. To help you separate the wheat from the chaff, the platform's Travellers' Choice Awards for 2025 has just landed, which ranks the hotels with the highest volume of 'above-and-beyond reviews'. Less than one percent of the platform's 8 million listings make it into this 'top' status, so it's a pretty big deal. Leading the way for hotels is Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, a stay in Mexico which has an impressive average of 4.8 out of 5 from more than 13,000 reviews. 'The hotel features spacious rooms as well as inviting gardens and direct beach access. Wellness lovers will head for the fitness centre, steam room, and spa, while adventurers gear up for diving and bicycle tours,' writes TripAdvisor, 'Plus, the resort's ideal location for snorkeling adds a bucket-list activity to your vacay. You'll love the poolside buffets, tequila tastings, and a variety of dining options.' Here are the 10 best hotels in the world, according to Tripadvisor – and one is in London
Tripadvisor has revealed its pick of the best hotels in its annual Travellers Choice Awards – and one is in London. The travel platform analysed 12 months of review data from over 1.6 million hotels listed on the site to identify the highest rated hotels in the world for 2025. Winners span 10 categories from the definitive Top Hotels, through to All-Inclusive, B&Bs and Inns, Family-Friendly, Luxury, Small and Boutique and Pet-Friendly. Three new subcategories have also been announced this year: One of a Kind, Treat Yourself and a special one-off 25th anniversary list. In total, over 100 UK hotels were named Best of the Best this year, with 11 placing on world lists. Claiming the title of the number one hotel in the world for 2025 is Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya in Tulum, Mexico, which also secured the world number one spot in the All-Inclusive and Treat Yourself categories. Reviewers remarked on the resort's impressive spa and wellness centre and selection of pools. In second place came Vietnam 's Grandvrio Ocean Resort Danang, with India 's Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach resort following in third. In sixth place – and the UK's top hotel – is St. Ermin's Hotel in London, which was ranked second in Europe and sixth in the world. Located in the heart of St James, the hotel is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. Of the top 10 hotels in the UK, six were in London, with other winners found in Oxfordshire, Jersey, Derry and Liverpool. And in the new One of a Kind category, which aims to highlight the world's most unique properties, Edinburgh's Fingal Hotel – a converted Northern Lighthouse Board ship – was ranked the UK's number one.
