MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Two Maryland men are facing charges after West Virginia State Troopers found fentanyl following a high-speed chase in Monongalia County that reached more than 100 miles per hour.
According to a criminal complaint, on Feb. 4, troopers with the Morgantown detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to Interstate 79 after receiving a 'Be On The Lookout' call regarding a vehicle being driven by Joshua Edward Galante, 41, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, and Antwan Eugene Dixon, 32, of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Troopers were informed that the pair were allegedly involved in a felony theft and pursuit that injured an officer in Logan, Ohio and that they could be in the area.
Troopers said that they found the vehicle—a white BMW—on I-79 North and conducted a traffic stop on it near the Pilot Fuel Station on Goshen Road.

Troopers said that Galante refused commands from troopers to get out of the vehicle and began to flee by getting back on I-79 North and driving at a 'high rate of speed towards Morgantown,' the complaint said.
The vehicle then led troopers on a chase on I-79 to Westover, through Morgantown, back onto I-79 and onto I-68, where it got off at Exit 1 and 'became disabled' at the GoMart on Grafton Road. Troopers said that during the chase, the vehicle 'passed vehicles across double yellow lines, made numerous hazardous lane changes' and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
After the vehicle was stopped, troopers performed a search and found a 'measurable amount' of presumed fentanyl as well as cash and cell phones. Troopers also learned that Dixon had four felony warrants out of Maryland with confirmed extradition.
Both men were charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and drug conspiracy. Galante was also charged with fleeing with reckless indifference, and Dixon was charged with being a fugitive from justice.
