Troopers find fentanyl after high-speed chase in Mon County; 2 charged

MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — Two Maryland men are facing charges after West Virginia State Troopers found fentanyl following a high-speed chase in Monongalia County that reached more than 100 miles per hour. According to a criminal complaint, on Feb. 4, troopers with the Morgantown detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to Interstate 79 after receiving a 'Be On The Lookout' call regarding a vehicle being driven by Joshua Edward Galante, 41, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, and Antwan Eugene Dixon, 32, of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Troopers were informed that the pair were allegedly involved in a felony theft and pursuit that injured an officer in Logan, Ohio and that they could be in the area. Troopers said that they found the vehicle—a white BMW—on I-79 North and conducted a traffic stop on it near the Pilot Fuel Station on Goshen Road. Detroit man charged with murder in connection to 2023 shooting in Morgantown Troopers said that Galante refused commands from troopers to get out of the vehicle and began to flee by getting back on I-79 North and driving at a 'high rate of speed towards Morgantown,' the complaint said. The vehicle then led troopers on a chase on I-79 to Westover, through Morgantown, back onto I-79 and onto I-68, where it got off at Exit 1 and 'became disabled' at the GoMart on Grafton Road. Troopers said that during the chase, the vehicle 'passed vehicles across double yellow lines, made numerous hazardous lane changes' and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. After the vehicle was stopped, troopers performed a search and found a 'measurable amount' of presumed fentanyl as well as cash and cell phones. Troopers also learned that Dixon had four felony warrants out of Maryland with confirmed extradition. Both men were charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and drug conspiracy. Galante was also charged with fleeing with reckless indifference, and Dixon was charged with being a fugitive from justice. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. ‘I only sell Coke': Morgantown man charged after troopers find drugs, stolen gun in car

MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — A Morgantown man is facing charges after West Virginia State Troopers say they found a loaded stolen gun and multiple drugs, including fentanyl, while searching a vehicle. According to a criminal complaint, on Jan. 24, troopers were conducting a patrol on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County when they noticed a Silver Chevrolet Equinox driving at around 40 mph in a posted 70 mph zone and crossing over the fog line on the right side of the road 'multiple times.' Troopers then turned on their emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near mile marker 10. When troopers approached the vehicle, they said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Man who led officers on high-speed I-79 chase said he used meth that day: Police Both the driver and the passenger said that they didn't have a driver's license or identification on them, but troopers were able to identify them both, including the passenger, Daisean Washington, 18, of Morgantown, the complaint said. Troopers then detained both of them and began a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, troopers said they found a 'raw, measurable, leafy, green substance' as well as a loaded Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine holding around 30 bullets. Troopers then ran a check on the serial number of the gun and found that it was stolen out of York, Pennsylvania. Washington was then placed under arrest and a search of his person was conducted which yielded a plastic bag containing 'a fine blue powder substance, a plastic bag containing a white powder substance, and an assortment of colored pills in another plastic bag' as well as cash, the complaint said. Troopers said they then conducted a Mirandized interview with Washington, who admitted to selling controlled substances for profit and told troopers 'I only sell Coke.' Washington also admitted that the blue powder was mixed with fentanyl, the complaint said. Washington has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
