Lions to ‘strap up and take whatever artillery we have' for Feisty Cavaliers
The teams clash in the Currie Cup in Wellington on Sunday and Nkosi is preparing his team for the twists and turns that have characterised the Cavaliers' opening two matches.
That the Cavaliers are a difficult team to put down was again evidenced in their 48-39 helter-skelter defeat to Griquas in Kimberley last Sunday. At home they are likely to be even more combative, as they showed in their opening round defeat of the Cheetahs in Wellington.
The Cavaliers, Nkosi warned, aren't only well stocked on the field.

'Chean Roux is helping out there and he's an astute coach. Hawies' [Fourie, head coach] success is well documented. Their defence guy Charl [Strydom] is also from the Cheetahs.
'They have players including Sbu Sangweni who spent lots of time here. We know him intimately and Ashlon Davids. David Brits, I coached against at school in his junior years at Western Province, and he's been part of the Sevens [Blitzboks].
'We've got to strap up and take whatever artillery we have. We are under no illusions that it will be a helluva game.'
Nkosi, who saw his team triumph at home against lesser experienced Sharks and Western Province line-ups, will not delve into the franchise's more prized resources for the trip to the Winelands.
'This is the group available to us. We will keep fighting with these guys and it would be nice to reward them a bit. There will be no cavalry,' Nkosi said.
In that spirit, part of Nkosi's brief is to build squad depth and in rookie hooker Marno Grobbelaar the coach believes the franchise has a player with a bright future.
'We are excited about Marno,' said Nkosi.
'He's a really physical guy. He's a guy who has come through the Lions' ranks nicely. He's a local boy and on a good pathway system with us.
'Hopefully we can give him one or two more opportunities under the tutelage of guys such as him,' said the coach while pointing to captain Jaco Visagie.
'He's probably a bit over-eager at times but he is a guy we are excited about. His frame and his physicality, that type of stuff.'
While the two teams have 10 points after two matches, the Lions trail the log-leading Bulls on points difference.

Sharks XV look to energise their game with home support in unknown Clermont
Sharks XV coach JP Pietersen says his team will look to their passionate home fans for extra energy when they take on the Cheetahs XV in the Currie Cup on Saturday in Clermont. Image: BackpagePix The Sharks XV hope the support in Clermont's Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium will aid them in their search for a first Currie Cup win when they take on the Cheetahs on Saturday afternoon (5.10pm start). It's an unknown stadium for both sides, but the home team will look to their passionate fans to provide some extra energy to their players as they look to shake off two demoralising losses in the opening stages of the tournament. They are sitting with a points difference of minus 105 and at the bottom of the log with zero points. Video Player is loading. 'It's great that we are taking the game to the community and hopefully inspire future players,' Pietersen said. 'You never know, you may find a future Makazole Mapimpi coming from there, so it is a good initiative from the Sharks and Durban Tourism to take the game to the people. We are expecting a lot of 'gees'. They must come to support and cheer for us. We have a lot of young players and need that support. 'If the people can come out in their numbers, it would help the team a lot and urge the guys to play the game as they want to put some joy on the people's faces. The guys are excited, there's been good energy in training, and we're looking forward to seeing what this team can do at home.' Pietersen is hopeful the halfback combination of Junior Springbok flyhalf Vusi Moyo and scrumhalf Bradley Davids can spark the team on the attack. They've only scored five points in their first two games, but they do have the players to open up the game with their abilities. Davids is known for his sniping runs around the rucks, while Moyo loves to take the ball up into contact, and he possesses the ability to put the centres into space with his runs and offloads. Griquas too good for WP, move into third place on Currie Cup log
The men from the Northern Cape scored seven tries to the three by the visitors. Griquas have moved up to third place on the Currie Cup log after registering a bonus-point win against Western Province in Kimberley on Friday afternoon. The men from the Northern Cape won 47-17 to also inflict a third straight defeat on the Cape Town-based side. Griquas edged the Cavaliers in Kimberley last weekend, after losing their first match of this year's competition, away to the Pumas in Mbombela. Western Province have no log points from three games after also going down to the Bulls and Lions. Griquas, while third on Friday night, can be overtaken on the points log by the Cheetahs, Pumas or Cavaliers who still have to play this weekend. Griquas were too good for the youthful Province team on Friday, dominating all departments as they went on to score seven tries. Province scored three tries but were outgunned and will have some thinking to do before their next game. On Saturday, the Bulls host the Pumas (3pm), the Sharks entertain the Cheetahs (5.10pm) and on Sunday the Cavaliers welcome the Lions to Wellington (3pm).

Griquas secure eighth straight win over Western Province in entertaining Currie Cup clash
Griquas flyhalf George Whitehead produced another near-flawless kicking performance against Western Province in the Currie Cup on Friday afternoon in Kimberley. Image: BackpagePix Griquas continued their Currie Cup hold over Western Province, defeating them for the eighth time in a row as they picked up a strong bonus point victory of 47-17 on Friday afternoon in Kimberley. It was another error-strewn performance by the Cape side, who, after a solid first 10 minutes, lost their concentration and soon found themselves behind 14-0 as the Peacock Blues capitalised on mistakes to open the game. Seven tries later and a near-flawless kicking performance by flyhalf George Whitehead, and the home side walked away with a full five points, effortlessly seeing off their counterparts to continue their winning run in the competition. A third consecutive loss, without earning any points, means WP will remain at zero on the official log. While they aim to develop young players in the competition, picking up losses like this will not help them win over fans after a terrible start. The firepower of the home side's backline, coupled with some hard work by the forwards, especially with their carries and rolling mauls, laid the platform for the victory at the Suzuki Stadium. Despite the strong kickoff by the visitors – they put plenty of pressure on their hosts – Griquas were patient and weathered the early onslaught of Province as they looked to play with the ball in hand. Solid defence and brilliant work at the breakdown to turnover possession stymied various WP attacks, with flanker Carel Els leading the charge for the men from Kimberley. It frustrated the visitors, and they started playing too loosely, which allowed the home side to capitalise on errors.
