Offensive Lineman Charlie Thom Commits To Notre Dame
Offensive Lineman Charlie Thom Commits To Notre Dame originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Notre Dame has added yet another player to its vaunted 2026 class, this time landing a commitment from Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive lineman Charlie Thom. The Irish beat out Penn State to land this 6-6, 270-pound lineman.

Thom has had an intriguing recruitment. Formerly a member of the 2025 class, Thom is at Avon Old Farms as a fifth-year high school player after spending most of his career as a tight end at Darien (Conn.) High School, but this spring and summer he has seen his recruitment blow up. That includes a recent offer from Penn State, who was hoping to get Thom in the class.

Thom filled out a bit as a senior for Darien, and his projection to offensive line became more clear. Thom isn't athletic enough to play tight end in college, but as an offensive lineman he grades out well from an athletic standpoint.
Earlier this month, Thom attended a Notre Dame camp and worked out in front of the Irish coaches. He impressed the Notre Dame coaches enough to earn an offer, and he immediately set up an official visit to see the Irish. Once Notre Dame offered the question was about when Thom would commit to the Irish, not if. He has been open about his desire to attend Notre Dame if they offered.

Thom is the sixth offensive lineman to commit to Notre Dame in this class. He joins Pennsylvania big man Tyler Merrill and athletic tackle Grayson McKeogh, massive Michigan linemen Ben Nichols and Sullivan Garvin, and steady lineman Gregory Patrick in the class.
The Old Farms blocker is an under-the-radar prospect that has only been ranked by On3, who views him as a three-star prospect. He earned a 3.0-star grade on the Irish Breakdown board as well, but there are tools to work with and Thom has a 4.0-star upside grade.
Thom earned offers from the Irish, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Syracuse, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest and UConn.
Thom is the 21st player to commit to Notre Dame, joining Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running back Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Georgia wide receiver Bubba Frazier, Florida wide receiver Dylan Faison, Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Merrill and McKeogh, Michigan lineman Merrill, Nichols and Garvin, North Carolina defensive ends Rodney Dunham and Ebenezer Ewetade, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, Pennsylvania safety Joey O'Brien, Maryland cornerback Khary Adams, Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey and Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith.

Wisconsin football top 2026 target announces finalists, commitment date
Wisconsin football top class of 2026 target, athlete Jackson Ford, announced his final four schools and upcoming commitment date on Tuesday. Ford will announce his collegiate decision on Friday, June 27. He will be choosing between the Wisconsin Badgers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions. 247Sports lists Ford as a four-star recruit. He's specifically ranked as the No. 306 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 18 athlete and the No. 8 player from his home state of Pennsylvania. The athlete, who will likely play edge rusher at the college level, took official visits to Wisconsin on May 30, Penn State on June 6, Ohio State on June 13 and Michigan on June 20. The recruiting service has yet to release a crystal ball for the top prospect's decision. On3 sees a tight race, giving Penn State a 27.6% chance to land his commitment, Michigan 20.8%, Ohio State 12% and Wisconsin 10%. Ford's recruitment is close to a must-win for the Badgers. The program's class currently ranks No. 51 nationally with 13 commitments. Notably, the class has now gone 10 days without a new addition. Ford is one of several top targets from Wisconsin's May 30 official visit weekend who remain uncommitted, along with four-star running back Amari Latimer, four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit and four-star offensive tackle Kamari Blair. The final verdict on the Badgers' 2026 class, which is currently without a blue-chip player, will depend on landing several of those top recruits. 2025 NBA mock draft: Who will the Philadelphia 76ers select No. 3 overall?
The 2025 NBA draft has finally arrived. The Philadelphia 76ers jumped two spots in the lottery and enter the draft with two selections, including No. 3 overall in the first round tonight. Before the draft, Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said the team would approach the draft by selecting the best player available, regardless of how the player fits on their roster. Below is a Sixers-only mock draft where the team will stay put at No. 3 and No. 35 overall and not make any trades. Round 1, No. 3 overall, Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the Sixers stay put and select Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe. Edgecombe, a former five-star recruit, is the only known prospect the Sixers had in for a workout and visit before the draft, and guard Tyrese Maxey was in attendance. Edgecombe "appeared nervous" during his workout, according to ESPN, but that won't stop the Sixers from selecting the high-flying athletic guard. Despite appearing nervous, Edgecombe made a "strong impression" in interviews and meetings, ESPN reported. He appears to be the favorite to land in Philadelphia. Edgecombe, who is a 6-foot-4 and 193 pounds, would provide even more depth to a Sixers backcourt headlined by Maxey that also includes Jared McCain. The Sixers bringing back guard Quentin Grimes, who is a restricted free agent, is also a "priority," according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Joe Gonzales/Baylor Athletics Images via Getty Images Edgecombe's athleticism and high motor will likely lead to him contributing right away on the defensive side of the ball. His athleticism will be on full display in transition. But Edgecombe's shot should also translate. Last year at Baylor, he averaged 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals for the Bears. He also shot 34% on 3-pointers overall, and connected on his 36.3% of his catch-and-shoot treys. While Edgecombe has plenty of upside, he will need to work on his ball-handling and playmaking skills, according to draft analysts. Round 2, No. 35 overall, Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner After picking a freshman with the No. 3 overall pick, the Sixers selected Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner, who played five seasons in college, at No. 35 overall. Getty Images Kalkbrenner, a four-star recruit, is a four-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year. He would provide depth to Philadelphia's backourt as a shot-blocker who has the potential to develop a consistent 3-point shot later in his career. Last season, Kalkbrenner won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, which goes to the best center in college basketball, and was named to the AP All-American Third team.
