Valu's market share increased to 25%, underscoring its position as Egypt's leading lifestyle-enabling fintech platform.
For the second quarter of 2025, Valu maintained its strong trajectory, recording EGP 1.52 billion in gross revenue, up 96% Y-o-Y, and EGP 217 million in net income, a 121% increase compared to 2Q24. GMV for the quarter stood at EGP 5.21 billion, while transactions reached 1.89 million, reflecting continued operational scale and customer engagement.
'Valu's first earnings release as a listed company marks a pivotal moment in our journey,' said Valu CEO Walid Hassouna. 'We have transitioned from a disruptive startup to a publicly listed company with a proven track record of profitability and strong performance in the first half of 2025, a milestone that cements our evolution. These results reflect the resilience of our business and the effectiveness of our product development strategy from the rapid adoption of our prepaid card to the scalable expansion of our auto-loan offering, Shift. We've broadened our customer base, increased repeat usage, and maintained portfolio quality while scaling rapidly. The Amazon transaction, through which Amazon acquired a direct stake in Valu and our EGX listing, has unlocked new strategic levers to accelerate progress, deepen our funding base, and extend our regional footprint, with Jordan marking our first MENA entry beyond Egypt.'
Valu's operational performance was underpinned by its diversified product suite and disciplined execution. The company's prepaid card, launched over a year ago, has rapidly gained traction, with transaction spending more than tripling Y-o-Y and average daily expenditure reaching EGP 10.6 million in 2Q25. The Shift auto loan product also contributed significantly to GMV growth, reflecting rising demand for large-ticket financing solutions. Customer engagement remained strong, with activated customers reaching 831 thousand and repeat customer rates increasing by 24% Y-o-Y .
'We are building a regional fintech champion, created to support financial inclusion, powered by technology, and designed to answer the evolving needs of millions of customers. Our results reflect our model's strength, our team's agility in meeting market needs, and the trust of our stakeholders, which has kept them loyal to us. As we look ahead, we remain focused on expanding our footprint, enhancing our product offering, and delivering sustainable value to our shareholders and the communities we serve,' added Hassouna.
The company also achieved key strategic milestones during the period. In March, Valu received approval for its Fintech Operating License from the Financial Regulatory Authority, enabling fully digital onboarding. In July, Valu secured initial approval from the Central Bank of Jordan to launch operations, marking the beginning of its regional expansion.
Valu's funding base remains robust, with EGP 10 billion in authorized credit limits and EGP 16 billion in completed securitizations to date. The company's fourth securitization program, valued at EGP 10 billion and backed by an EGP 13 billion portfolio, received FRA approval in July, further enhancing its financial flexibility .

PM: Egypt Projects Natural Gas Output to Reach 6.6 Bcf/Day by 2027

Ahmed Emam Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Wednesday that the country expects to boost its natural gas production to 6.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) by 2027, up from the current 4.1 Bcf/d. Speaking during a briefing on the government's energy strategy, Madbouly highlighted ongoing investments in exploration, development, and infrastructure aimed at increasing output and meeting both domestic demand and export commitments. The Prime Minister noted that the expansion plan is part of Egypt's broader strategy to consolidate its role as a regional energy hub, leveraging its liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and strategic location. Egypt has emerged as a key gas supplier in the Eastern Mediterranean, benefiting from recent discoveries such as the giant Zohr field. However, production levels have faced challenges in recent years due to natural field declines and fluctuating investment. Madbouly expressed confidence that new projects, combined with enhanced efficiency in existing fields, will enable Egypt to achieve the 2027 production target. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

PM reports economic gains, foreign reserve growth

CAIRO, Aug 13 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the economy is showing strong performance, with foreign reserves rising on the back of real economic activity. Inflation dropped to 13.1 percent in July from 14.4 percent in June, with the second-quarter average down nearly half from last year. During his weekly press conference following the Cabinet meeting, Madbouly said that inflation fell to 13.1 percent in July from 14.4 percent in June, continuing a clear downward trend. He added that the average for the second quarter of 2025 stood at 15.3 percent, nearly half the rate recorded a year earlier. Madbouly noted that exports grew by over 22 percent, with remittances and tourism revenues also rising, while Suez Canal income declined due to geopolitical tensions. The Prime Minister also praised the strong industrial activity, including the signing of a $1 billion investment to establish the region's largest tire factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, expected to produce more than 10 million tires annually within three years. Additionally, he cited daily progress in industry, expansion of private sector partnerships, and the cultivation of 500,000 feddans under the 1.5 million feddan agricultural project. On foreign policy, Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt's unchanging position on its Nile water rights after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Uganda's president, adding that Cairo supports development projects across the Nile Basin but sees the Blue Nile as a critical source of life. He also described fruitful talks with Sudan's prime minister on trade, energy, and shared projects, as well as meetings in Jordan aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. Domestically, the Cabinet approved committees to implement the amended Old Rent Law and prepare housing allocation criteria for eligible tenants. Madbouly reviewed urban development projects, including the restoration of Cairo's historic district, the reopening of Azbakeya Park, and the completion of the 500-feddan Fustat Central Park by September. Addressing the energy sector, Madbouly stated that Egypt has maintained power stability despite a record demand of 39,500 MW and extended a gas import agreement to 2040 to reinforce its role as a regional energy hub. Finally, he stressed that such agreements do not influence Egypt's political stances, including its firm position on Gaza. (MENA)

Sisi: Uganda is Egypt's key partner in southern Nile Basin

CAIRO, Aug 12 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has stressed that Uganda is a key partner of Egypt in the southern Nile Basin region, expressing Cairo's aspiration that the African country can be among the primary beneficiaries of the Egyptian mechanisms designated to support development in Nile Basin countries. President Sisi's remarks came during his speech at the Egypt-Uganda Businessmen Forum, which was inaugurated Tuesday in the presence of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Sisi also lauded the organization of the forum, which brings together leading business figures from both countries. He noted that the forum reflects the depth of the extended bonds of friendship between Egypt and Uganda, as well as their firm determination to expand partnerships across various fields of cooperation for the benefit of their peoples. Egypt looks forward to enhancing economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade exchange, which reached about $133 million in 2024, and expected to double this figure, President Sisi said. He underscored the need for accelerating the formation of the Egyptian-Ugandan Joint Business Council, increasing the exchange of business delegations, and encouraging companies in both countries to boost their exports — particularly in sectors like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, building materials, electrical appliances, and other products that meet the needs of markets. The president noted that the forum is a practical step toward translating the strength of bilateral political relations into concrete projects that benefit Egyptian and Ugandan peoples, based on a win-win approach. Sisi said the private sector and entrepreneurs in both countries should be the driving force of partnership in economy, trade, and investment, while the role of governments is to provide the legal and political frameworks that enable these partnerships to thrive. President Sisi reaffirmed that Egypt, as always, extends its hand to Uganda — as a partner, brother, and friend — within a framework of mutual respect and shared interests. (MENA)
