The smartphone giant made several exciting car-related announcements at WWDC on Monday.
One of these was the revelation that 13 brands will be added to Apple's Car Keys feature in their Wallet app.
This groundbreaking feature was launched in 2020.
The concept allowed users to open their cars using their phone or smartwatch.
Each version of the key varied by manufacturer, and some have more special features than others.
For example, some boast an incredible proximity ability.
This means that the car can be locked and opened and even started just by holding the phone close to the vehicle's doorhandle.
Passive entry is also available with the Car Keys feature.
This means the car can lock automatically when you walk away, and can then open as you come near it.
On top of these extraordinary features, the car can be opened remotely and without the need for physical keys.
Now, 13 car brands are set to gain Car Key support.
These include Acura, Cadillac, Chery, Chevrolet, GMC, Hongqi, Lucid, Porsche, Rivian, Smart, Tata, Voyah and WEY.
There was no specific timeline given for when these brands would be adopting car key support.
But having made the announcement at WWDC during the iOS 26 presentation, they may all launch by the end of this year.
This list may include more brands in the future.
With the addition of these 13, the total list of vehicles with Car Key support on Apple devices now includes 33 brands.
The rest of the list already includes car giants such as Mercedes, Audi, Volvo and Mini.

Netflix users slam new update

Published: | Updated: Netflix users around the world are lashing out over a new update that many say has ruined their viewing experience. The streaming giant, which boasts over 300 million subscribers , has rolled out a redesigned user interface (UI) to deliver better recommendations and a more personalized experience. However, the update has triggered a wave of frustration, with some subscribers calling it 'diabolical.' 'Netflix has destroyed the app. Worst UI redesign ever. Everyone needs to cancel,' one user posted on X. Users are now presented with enlarged title cards, the rectangular graphics that preview shows and movies, which they said takes up more screen space and reduces the number of titles visible at once. Previously, users could scroll through multiple rows of compact tiles. The 'clunky' title boxes have also taken the place of key features that users said helped them find movies and shows easily. 'Netflix's update is diabolical. Where the hell is the 'Coming Soon' section?!' another frustrated user shared on X. Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone emphasized the company's focus on merging technology with entertainment, calling it Netflix's 'superpower' that improves user connection with shows and movies. The streaming giant believes the new experience will save users from overwhelming situations, like choosing what to watch, by providing tailor-made suggestions for them. In the previous version, shortcuts like Search and My List were located on the left side. Now, shortcuts to Search, Shows, Movies, Games, and My Netflix are located at the top of your screen and always visible. The revamped homepage introduces multiple rows of content that update based on a user's viewing habits. For instance, someone watching a romantic comedy may suddenly see an entire section dedicated to similar films. 'The new Netflix TV experience is still the one you know and love, just better,' Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim said. Despite the company's promises, many users are taking to social media to complain that the update has worsened their viewing experience. 'Whoever's job it was to update Netflix UI, I'm praying for a resignation in the coming weeks. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE,' an X user shared. On Reddit, where user experience discussions often gain traction, subscribers echoed the frustration. One described the update as 'so dire' they were considering canceling their subscription. Another added: 'It was so slick and easy to use before. Now it's so clunky.' Some subscribers have even launched a petition urging Netflix to revert the layout, arguing that the new interface shows only three to four titles per screen, which is a drastic drop from the 20 or more shown previously. While users are outraged, Netflix stands by the design that it said will better accommodate its growing library of movies, TV shows and games. The platform also plans to add generative AI-powered search features, beginning with a beta rollout on iOS. The new AI-powered search tool will let users find content using natural language — for example, typing 'I want something funny and upbeat' instead of searching for specific titles. Despite the backlash, Netflix appears committed to the redesign. The company said internal testing showed strong user engagement, suggesting confidence that the interface will grow on subscribers over time. Interestingly, signs of user discontent surfaced months ago. Some began voicing complaints during early beta testing, particularly over the enlarged tiles and the diminished ease of browsing, concerns that have since exploded across social platforms.

Stablecoin startup Noah raises $22m

A former Adyen executive and an ex-UBS analyst have become the latest entrants into the increasingly crowned stablecoin infrastructure market, raising $22 million in seed founding for their startup, Noah. 0 LocalGlobe led the round, with participation from Felix Capital, FJ Labs and angels including Joe Lonsdale from Palantir and former Adyen CTO Alexander Matthey. Noah says its technology empowers businesses and their customers with lightning-fast, cost-efficient, and fully compliant global money transfers to rival the "slow, costly and frankly obsolete Swift system". Through its API and checkout integrations, businesses can convert funds between fiat and stablecoins across a network of over 50 currencies and 70 countries in real-time, transparently, cheaply and without compromising compliance, claims the startup. In a crowded market, Noah says that, while others bolt stablecoins onto existing or broader payment offerings, it is built around them, unequivocally committed to channelling its resources into building the essential infrastructure stablecoins need to scale. The funding will be used to spearhead expansion into fintech hubs across US, Europe and Asia, pursue essential licensing, and backing its product and engineering divisions. Thijn Lamers president, Noah and former EVP, global sales, Adyen, says: "Having had a front row seat to Adyen's explosive global demand, I see an even more profound trajectory for stablecoins. "Our cutting-edge technology, our world-class team, and now the formidable backing of top-tier investors perfectly position Noah to capitalise on the immense potential of stablecoins and address the practical needs of global businesses."

Mobile users warned urgent ‘mandatory' update affects their battery after reports of phones catching FIRE

A "MANDATORY" update is going out to some mobiles after reports of fires breaking out when charging. While the update is important for safety, affected users will notice a knock to their battery's capacity as a result. 2 Google has confirmed to The Sun that a "subset" of Pixel 6a devices will receive it "to reduce the risk of potential battery overheating". It comes as a number of unverified reports online that the phone caught fire when on charge. One user shared pictures of his destroyed Pixel 6a which they say began to "shoot out hot gas" in the middle of the night as it was on charge. "Luckily, I was able to smother the fire, then throw the still-smoking phone into the toilet before the fire spread," Reddit user zaliver claimed. "My wife and I are pretty shook up about it." A small number of other users have reported similar issues. "The update will enable battery management features that will reduce capacity and charging performance after the battery reaches 400 charge cycles," Google said. "We'll contact impacted customers next month, with all the information they need to address the issue." It comes only a few months after another update impacted the batteries on the Pixel 4A, though this incident affected all models and wasn't a result of safety concerns. Owners were offered a free replacement battery to solve the problem.
