After the Rangers shipped K'Andre Miller, their No. 22 overall pick in 2018, to Carolina on July 1, the organization was officially flushed of every single one of the six first-round draft picks it made from 2017 to 2019.
The No. 7 overall pick in 2017, Lias Andersson, was traded to the Kings in Oct. 2020 after the young Swede struggled to acclimate overseas in every way.
Filip Chytil, chosen 14 spots later, was packaged and sent to Vancouver for J.T. Miller this past season once the Blueshirts weighed the uncertainty of his extensive concussion history.
Vitali Kravtsov, the Rangers' ninth overall selection in 2018, was sent to Vancouver in Feb. 2023 after a saga that included refusing an AHL assignment, a slew of injuries and unimpressive play.

At least for the sake of this matchup, it created a moment of levity in a game that had long been over. Tellez and Springer will probably be able to laugh at this one together for a long time.
