Aldi Australia quietly discontinues crowd-favourite item: 'Saddest news'

Daily Mail29-07-2025
Aldi shoppers have noticed that a popular snack sold at the budget supermarket has been quietly removed from shelves.
Fans of the Food Envy High Protein Vanilla Flavoured Custard Pouch were devastated to discover that the product no longer appeared to be stocked in Aldi stores.
An Aldi Australia spokesperson confirmed to FEMAIL that 'ALDI's popular Vanilla Protein Custard Pouch went on sale earlier this year as part of ALDI's Limited Time Only range'.
'As is the nature of ALDI's Limited Time Only range, these products were here for a good time, not a long time!'
A search on the Aldi website under the brand listing for Food Envy also shows that there is no longer record of the product. Other Food Envy branded treats like two-packs of Creme Caramel and Strawberry Panna Cotta are still available.
But in a small glimmer of hope, the supermarket spokesperson told FEMAIL that they may yet bring the beloved custard snack back.
'Customer favourites have been known to return, so shoppers should keep an eye on our website for information on our Limited Time Only and new product launches to find out if their favourite products are making a return,' the statement read.
A conversation about the custard pouch's sudden disappearance was kickstarted on Reddit by a shopper in the popular Aldi Australia thread.
A Redditor asked fellow Aldi shoppers whether they knew if the popular custard snack had been discontinued
The upset Aussie explained that they had visited 'four different Aldi [stores]' but could no longer find the high protein snack.
They explained that it was quite common for the popular high protein custard to be 'out of stock' in stores - but that on those occasions there would still be a 'price tag' visibly displayed on the fridge shelf, along with an empty spot where the product would usually sit.
However, the customer became suspicious that the custard pouches had been permanently removed from Aldi stores when there was no longer 'even a space/tag for them' on the refrigerated shelves.
In line with the official Aldi statement, commenters chimed in to confirm the unfortunate news that the popular custard had been 'discontinued'.
'They are [gone], sorry,' one apologetically wrote.
'RIP, loved those things,' another added.
One commenter, who appeared to have inside intel about Aldi store operations, elaborated further.
'They've been taken off the shelves as part of the quarterly re-merch,' they explained. 'They may likely make a reappearance for a little while in another quarter as many products that are seasonal with Aldi follow this trend.'
Other responses shared the original poster's frustration about Aldi's tendency to 'rotate products' out of their stores – with one declaring that it 'really sucks when an item you want disappears'.
A news update on the store's own Aldi Unpacked feed earlier in the year flagged that the custard was always intended to be a 'Limited Time Only' item.
In that news post, the Food Envy Vanilla Protein Custard Pouch 140g, priced at $1.99, was described as a 'high-protein, low cost, convenient' snack.
The Reddit thread also made mention of the huge popularity of the Food Envy Custard Pouches after they were highlighted in several TikTok videos for being a great healthy snack option.
A post shared by @TheMacroFoodBlogger showed the product in Aldi stores overlaid with the text: 'GYM RATS RUN TO ALDI'.
Melbourne foodie @NectoriousPapi also shared a TikTok video about the Aldi custard, declaring it a cheaper alternative to another popular health snack in Paul's Plus+ Protein Vanilla tubs, which are priced at $2.90 and sold at major supermarkets.

Real Housewives of Brisbane star lists stunning six-bedroom mansion

High-profile businesswoman Fleur Madden is set to put her Queensland mansion under the hammer. Madden, who was cast in the axed Real Housewives of Brisbane spin-off, has not listed a price guide for the two-storey, six-bedroom property she shares with her husband, mining executive Jimmy Gwisai. According to sales records, the median sale price for large upscale properties in Coorparoo, where the home is situated, is an impressive $2.5million The couple's property, dubbed The Palms, is inspired by the architecture found in Florida around Palm Springs. Highlights include a dazzling façade, stone archways, a pink blush front door and a private dining room that features a built-in 'wine wall' and spectacular chandelier. There's also a curved staircase, terrazzo tiling, oak timber floors, a beautifully appointed 'media room' and a home office that can double as a bedroom. The ground floor offers an open-plan layout combining an oversized kitchen and living space, which opens out to a covered patio and al fresco dining and pool area. Other highlights include soaring three-metre ceilings and a master suite occupying an entire corner of the top floor, which also features a grand ensuite and dressing room. Impressive 'classic' details are featured prominently in the appointments, including French doors and windows. It comes after Madden, who runs the Ginsburg Advisory business brand, was all set to star in reality spin-off, The Real Housewives of Brisbane. Announced in 2023, Foxtel dropped the Brisbane edition in favour of a second Sydney season. Madden was to feature in a cast including couture designer Sonia Stradiotto and jewellery designer Jimena Alejandra. Speaking to Adelaide Now at the time, Alejandra revealed that she was first approached in 2022. Also interviewed for the story was Madden, who said that the network had plans to make the series different and less frivolous than its predecessors. 'They were specifically looking for businesswomen and women that had their own success, they were trying to make it different,' she told the publication in 2023. It was earlier reported that The Real Housewives reality franchise would be moving to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. According to The Courier Mail, suitable candidates living in Queensland's wealthiest postcodes were being sought out. Producers had approached a number of high-profile women, and some reportedly declined the opportunity, opting to keep their lives private.

Kmart just dropped a $16 accessory with a hidden feature women are OBSESSED with

Shoppers are obsessing over a $16 'essential' item with a hidden feature from Kmart that's perfect for travelling or just going for a 'hot girl walk'. The new black sling bag has landed in stores across Australia - and it's the hidden pocket for storing a water bottle that's winning customers over. The sleek crossbody bag is compact yet spacious, featuring multiple compartments for easy organisation - ideal for daily use, travel and even outdoor hiking adventures. The accessory has many pockets so you can organise and stash essentials such as phone, headphones, wallet and more in easy-to-find places, without having to rummage or pull everything out just to find keys. 'This Kmart sling bag is built for life on the go,' a Kmart employee said in a video. 'Whether you're taking the dog for a walk, crossing things off your to-do list or exploring a new city, this bag has your back 'Just look at how much I can fit in it - and there's still so much space for all of your other must-haves. 'And did we mention this hidden water bottle pouch? Let's just say it's the kind of detail you'll wonder how you lived without.' The video has been viewed more than 90,000 times - with many saying it's the 'perfect walking bag' for storing all their personal belongings. 'I need it,' one said. 'I'm running to Kmart,' another shared. Earlier this week, beauty-obsessed shopper Mya Bertolini found the ultimate budget beauty hack that will save you thousands of dollars per year. She shared her knowledge on on social media, unveiling a $5 bargain that instantly makes nails look like they've just left the salon. Mya revealed she can make the OXX Cosmetics French tip coffin-shaped press-ons from Kmart ($5) last an impressive three weeks - without the price tag or damage of a professional set. 'These used to last me only three days,' she said. 'Now they last me three weeks. They're so good. I will never get acrylics again.' The beauty lover explained that the key to long-lasting results isn't just from the product itself, it's all in the prep too. 'All you're going to need is a nail file and pure acetone,' she said in the clip. 'I got these at a beauty supply store.' Mya began pushing back her cuticles and gently buffing her natural nails. 'You don't want to damage them.' Next came what she says is the most important step - wiping the nails with pure acetone to strip away any oils on the nail plate, which could affect how well the glue sticks. 'It's going to completely get rid of all the oils,' she explained. Once her nails were clean and prepped, she used the glue that came with the Kmart set to apply the press-ons. The final result was a flawless, professional-looking manicure for a fraction of the cost.

Bad news for Aussies with big bank now HIKING mortgage rates

The ANZ bank has surprised home borrowers by hiking variable mortgage rates - despite expectations of more rate cuts from the Reserve Bank. The Big Four bank bucked the trend by raising both owner-occupier and investor loan rates by 16 basis points. This will see owner-occupier rates rise to 5.75 per cent as investment loan rates climbed to 6.05 per cent. The move was made despite near universal expectations of another rate cut on August 12, followed by two more cuts by Christmas. ANZ is also discontinuing its $2,000 cashback offer. Canstar data insights manager Sally Tindall said ANZ's counter hike showed margins were now more important than winning over new customers. 'ANZ's hike to its lowest variable rate is a reminder some banks are still looking to protect margins,' she said. 'It's an unusual move just days out from a board meeting that could deliver a cut, but it shows how some banks don't follow the tide. Let's just hope it's not contagious.' The ANZ hike comes just a week after underlying inflation - the RBA's preferred measure - fell to 2.7 per cent in the June quarter, or a level closer to the mid-point of the Reserve Bank's two to three per cent target. RBA deputy governor Andrew Hauser hinted this would make a rate cut on August 12 more likely. 'The data yesterday were very welcome,' he said. 'We were looking for more evidence that inflation was moving sustainably back to the mid-point, and we've had another piece of that jigsaw yesterday.' Headline or consumer price index inflation fell again to just 2.1 per cent, the lowest since March 2021. Both numbers have firmed up the prospect of a rate cut next week, that would see the cash rate fall back to 3.6 per cent for the first time since May 2023 and cut monthly repayments by $100 on an average $660,000 mortgage. The futures market, however, only regards a cut next week as a 51 per cent chance, despite the lower inflation. Financial markets are now more wary after the RBA in July left the cash rate on hold at 3.85 per cent, despite economists at every major bank forecasting a cut.
