‘And the penny drops' – EastEnders fans discover soap star is 90s comedy legend
Villains are killed off and others jet off abroad in search of a new life, making way for new talent to arrive on Albert Square.
Among the most recent confirmed exits on the BBC soap include Molly Rainford, known for playing Queen Vic barmaid Anna Knight.
But there's one former resident of Walford who has recently been appearing in the classic EastEnders episodes, and fans are shocked to realise she was also a 90s comedy legend.
It comes as someone said in a throwback post on Reddit: 'Classic EE: I just realised who Queenie Trott was!
'She used to star in comedy show Keeping Up Appearances playing Daisy in the 90s.
'Judy Cornwell (who played Heather's Mum) only lasted 8 episodes (2007-08) and her last appearance was only this week after seeing her daughter getting married to Minty (fake or real).
'Was it just me, or did anyone else knew who she was?'
Queenie Trott was played by Judy Cornwell, who joined the programme in 2007 and was the mother of Heather Trott.
However, in 2008, Queenie exited the BBC soap as part of a storyline that saw Heather marry her fiancé, Minty Peterson.
When Heather was murdered on EastEnders in 2012, Queenie didn't attend her funeral.
Yet before her role on EastEnders, Judy took on the character of Daisy, who was the sister of Hyacinth Bucket (Patricia Routledge) and was married to Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) on Keeping Up Appearances.
Reacting to the discovery of Judy's role as Daisy in the BBC sitcom (from 1990 to 1995), someone responded to the original post on the subreddit r/eastenders: 'And the penny drops!!!! Thank you!!'
This person commented: 'What a great actress, those two characters are worlds apart.'
Someone else put: 'I knew who she was, always liked Onslow and Daisy lol.'
Meanwhile, one fan revealed: 'She also played Mrs. Musgrove in the 1995 film 'Persuasion' with Ciarán Hinds—she was fantastic in that role!'

Another added: 'I knew who she was, but I'm once again aggrieved at Heather's demise when she had so much more storytelling to do, including her relationship with Queenie!'
One viewer replied: 'And Judy is still alive and well, now 85 years old.'

The NFL preseason has started, which means football will occupy a lot of TVs for the next few months. To help you get in the mood for football season, Apple is planning to bring NFL Retro Bowl '26 to Apple Arcade on Sept. 4. Apple Arcade is filled with familiar and classic games, alongside exclusive titles, that you can play for $7 per month (£7, AU$10). Many of these games can be found in the App Store, but they may have paywalls and ads that hinder your gaming experience. An Apple Arcade subscription gives you access to games without paywalls and ads, a feature usually denoted by "Plus" in the name. Here are all the games Apple plans to bring to the service on Sept. 4. You can also check out the games Apple added in August, like Worms Across Worlds. NFL Retro Bowl '26 Developer: New Star Games Apple This NFL and NFLPA-licensed game brings authentic team rosters and NFL players to your mobile screen in fun retro visuals, just like last year's Retro Bowl '25. This year's game introduces a new game mode called NFL Retro Bowl Championship Leaderboard. In this mode, you can play as your favorite teams in weekly matchups that align with the 2025 season. Hopefully, my Cincinnati Bengals will return to the Super Bowl this year, but if not, I can at least take them there in this game. Jeopardy! Daily Developer: Frosty Pop Games Apple Jeopardy! Daily is a daily game that brings clues crafted by the show's writers to your screen, where you have to answer in the form of a question. In this trivia game, you can upload your score to the global leaderboards, test your knowledge in unique game modes and more. My Talking Tom Friends Plus Developer: Outfit7 Apple Join Talking Tom, Angela and other virtual pets as they go on adventures into town, play minigames and more. This interactive life-sim brings all the Talking Tom and Friends characters together in one place, so you can take care of the different pets, dress them up in fun costumes and create your own adventures. You can access these games in Apple Arcade on Sept. 4, but there are plenty of other games to play on the service, which costs $7 a month or $50 annually. You can also try Apple Arcade for free for one month with your first sign-up, or you can get a three-month free trial when you buy a new Apple device. To access Apple Arcade, open the App Store on your iOS or iPadOS device and tap the joystick in the menu bar.

Metallica And Queen Manage The Same Feat
For the past several weeks, both Ozzy Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath have appeared in lofty positions on the charts in the United Kingdom, as listeners in the late rocker's home country mourn his passing and honor his legacy by streaming and buying his biggest hits. As is always the case when such a surge occurs for a sad reason, those tunes have started to decline, especially on the country's rundown of the top rock and metal tracks. That's the tally where Osbourne and Black Sabbath fully displayed their immense popularity, and this frame, as some of Osbourne's most popular tunes and a handful of Black Sabbath cuts fall, several other classics by other superstar acts are able to return to the highest tier. Metallica, Queen and Evanescence Return Four songs return to the top 10 on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart this week. All of them regularly spend time within that region, but they were recently pushed out as Osbourne and Black Sabbath surged. 'Can't Stop' by Red Hot Chili Peppers leaps highest, jumping from No. 12 to No. 7. That tune is followed by a trio of comebacks, including 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen (No. 8), 'Enter Sandman' by Metallica (No. 9), and 'Bring Me to Life' by Evanescence (No. 10). Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Fall Making room for Metallica, Queen, and others, a pair of Osbourne tunes and two Black Sabbath favorites fall. Last week, Osbourne's 'Mama, I'm Coming Home' and 'No More Tears' sat at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, and now they dip to Nos. 12 and 13. Black Sabbath sat just behind the group's own frontman at Nos. 6 and 7 with 'War Pigs' and 'Iron Man,' which have now declined in stature to Nos. 15 and 16, respectively. AC/DC, Guns N' Roses and Disturbed Rise Several other popular smashes are also on the rise within the top 10 on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart, though they don't need to return to the highest tier. 'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls finds its way back to No. 1, swapping spots with 'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath, which dips to the runner-up slot. 'The Sound of Silence' by Disturbed, 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC, and 'Sweet Child O' Mine' by Guns N' Roses all inch north several spots, settling in at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively, after landing in the lowest spots within the uppermost region just a few days ago.

Lady Gaga's New Album Dances Back To The Charts
Lady Gaga dropped her new album Mayhem in early March and just a few months later kicked off The Mayhem Ball. The global trek sees the pop superstar traveling to countries across several continents and performing dozens of shows before wrapping in early 2026. As photos and videos of her high-octane performances make the rounds on social media after every new tour date, interest in Mayhem grows, and fans in the United Kingdom are getting excited for their chance to see the Grammy and Oscar winner before The Mayhem Ball hits London in September. Mayhem Returns to Multiple Charts The project reappears on multiple charts in that country, as Mayhem dances back onto two tallies in the U.K. this week. Gaga's latest full-length returns to the Official Physical Albums chart — which ranks only the top-selling titles available on CD, cassette, or vinyl — at No. 75. The same project also breaks onto the Official Album Sales chart at No. 79. Lady Gaga's Former No. 1 Mayhem has now spent the exact same length of time on both of those sales lists, as this frame is its twenty-first on the two rosters. In the past, when Mayhem was brand new, it hit No. 1, becoming a top seller in the U.K. Mayhem and The Fame Chart – But Don't Cross This week, Gaga sees two of her albums find space on the charts in the U.K., though there's no overlap between the pair. As Mayhem becomes a bestseller, The Fame, her debut full-length, appears on both the Official Albums and Official Album Streaming charts. On the former, which ranks the most consumed titles, her decade-plus-old set jumps to No. 56, while simultaneously declining slightly on the streaming-only tally. 'Die With a Smile' Represents Mayhem on the Charts Mayhem may be a hit on the charts once again, but only one single from the project is still going strong, and it's the oldest of the bunch. 'Die With a Smile,' her collaboration with Bruno Mars, lifts on four rosters at once. In just a few days, it will reach 52 weeks — a full year — on both streaming and sales rankings. An even older tune, 'Always Remember Us This Way,' is also growing. That solo track, taken from her A Star Is Born soundtrack album, rises on the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, coming in at No. 61 and No. 59, respectively.
