Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, father of her two children, dead at 48

Kelly Clarkson's former husband, Brandon Blackstock, has tragically passed away at 48 following a lengthy battle with cancer. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and parted ways in 2022, share two children together.
A family spokesperson confirmed the heartbreaking news to PEOPLE, stating: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away."
The statement continued: "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
This comes as Kelly Clarkson had to delay her Las Vegas residency due to a sudden crisis involving her ex-husband.
Earlier in the week, Kelly announced the postponement of her Las Vegas shows, citing Brandon's health issues. She shared on Instagram: "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," reports the Mirror.
She added, "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."
Brandon had two kids, River Rose, 11, and Remington 'Remy' Alexander, nine, with Kelly, alongside two children from a previous relationship. In a twist of family joy, he became a grandad in 2022 when his eldest daughter welcomed a baby boy. Brandon Blackstock has died. (Image: Getty Images for NARAS)
Kelly met Brandon, whose dad Narvel was her former manager, during rehearsals for the Academy of Country Music Awards back in 2006. Following his split from his first wife, Brandon and Kelly's lives intertwined again at the Super Bowl, leading to their nuptials in October 2013.
The talent manager, known for handling Blake Shelton's career, took Kelly under his professional wing post-marriage. Kelly gushed to Marie Claire in 2018 about her decision: "I wouldn't have hired Brandon to be my manager if I didn't see first-hand how great he is at that and how much he cares about Blake."
She added, praising his professional acumen, "And the way that [Blake's] career has blown up, I would have hired Brandon regardless. He's really talented at what he does and his mind really does work in a completely different way."
However, after six years together, Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon in 2020, shortly after they listed their home for sale. Reflecting on the ordeal in 2023, she admitted the separation "ripped her apart".
Discussing the emotional toll, she said, "I think the thing about divorce - especially having it publicised, and people thinking they know the whole thing, the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn't an overnight decision."
She continued, revealing the depth of the struggle, "Anyone that's been divorced knows that was years in trying to make, not make it work – I never wanted to be part of something to 'make it work'."

Conor McGregor told one habit is making him look 'weird' as UFC legend takes aim

UFC legend Chael Sonnen has slammed Conor McGregor for his "weird" tendency to shadow box in public. A former two-division UFC champion, the 'Notorious' one hasn't stepped into the octagon since sustaining a horrific leg injury during his defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The 37-year-old was set for a comeback bout against Michael Chandler last June, but those plans were shelved due to injury. Nevertheless, Sonnen, 48, believes footage of McGregor on social media demonstrates that he's nowhere near ready to return to competition. The former UFC title contender criticised McGregor's penchant for shadow boxing away from the gym and has urged the Irish fighter to stop it altogether. He explained on his YouTube channel: "I don't know if I've caught a clip of Conor McGregor where I don't see him shadow boxing. It's as slow as molasses moving uphill. "He does have the form, Conor has very good form, but it's so slow. I feel as though, at times, my camera's lagging. To watch the body mechanics of McGregor is, I must tell you, unusual. "He moves in a way and he does have certain angles, he does have certain things he will do where you can see the martial artist in him and I find it interesting. But I'm watching this guy a lot closer to 40 than he is to 30. "He's a lot closer to 50 than he is 20. And it's weird as 'F' to watch him in this slow motion. It's not a workout, by the way, he's not bringing you in on the gym. He'll be on a boat. He'll be in his living room. He'll be all by himself." Chael Sonnen challenged for a UFC title on three occasions during his career (Image: Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) Wrapping up his rant, Sonnen added: "So, for goodness sakes Conor, for a guy like me, for a mark, for a guy that's going to stop what he's doing and watch a video that you put out, please do not make me look at any more shadow boxing." Meanwhile, McGregor has voiced his ambition to enter the political arena. The UFC star has slammed the nomination process whilst outlining his aspirations to stand for President of Ireland. Regarding his commercial ventures, he holds a stake in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, owns the Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin and launched his Forged Irish Stout in 2021. Nevertheless, Sonnen wasn't concentrating on McGregor's pursuits beyond MMA. Rather, the ESPN pundit called for McGregor to cease shadow boxing, although he acknowledged it was a familiar habit amongst numerous fighters in the sport. He explained (via Dublin Live): "MMA guys can't stop shadow boxing. They can't stop shadow boxing. UFC star Conor McGregor has been told to stop doing a common trope in front of cameras (Image:for Prime Video UK) "You'll be talking to an MMA guy and he'll start rolling those shoulders out. Start dipping and slipping and bobbing and weaving. It's weird, it's f'ing weird. "If you ever find yourself shadow boxing at a time when a UFC camera is not on you, stop. Instantly. If you ever find yourself shadow boxing in a non-gym format, stop. "If you're in your garage, if you're getting a workout, if it's just you, you shadow box your little heart out. But if you ever find yourself just shadow boxing, it is the MMA equivalent of an old guy putting on a singlet and trying to wrestle some kid down to the ground."

Search to find 'Irish voice' for Ring doorbells is on with open auditions taking place

The search is on to find the voice of Ring doorbells nationwide, with open auditions taking place. The Ring doorbell, which is known for its video doorbells, has a 'quick reply' feature — pre-recorded greetings for people who can't answer the doorbell in real time that allows people to leave a message, similar to a voicemail. With the feature set to be rolled out in Ireland, auditions have begun in three major Irish cities to find who will be the voice behind the quick replies. The search is on to find the voice of Ring doorbells nationwide, with open auditions taking place. Pic: Ring The auditions began in Cork last week at Mahon Point Shopping Centre on July 30 and 31, but those who missed out last week will be able to have a crack at it as the auditions head to Galway this weekend (August 9 and 10) at the Eyre Square Shopping Centre. From there, it will head to Liffey Valley Shopping Centre in Dublin on August 16 and 17. If you're not in those three cities, however, you can still audition online, where you'll be asked to record the line 'we can't answer the door right now, but if you'd like to leave a message, you can do it now.' Ring doorbells are popular around Ireland, with auditions being held around the country. Pic: Future Publishing via Getty Images There's also an option to do it in Irish, where you'll be asked to record the phrase 'Dia dhuit! Ní féidir linn an doras a oscailt faoi láthair, ach más mian leat teachtaireacht ghearr a fhághail is féidir leat é sin a dhéanamh anois.' 'Our customers find Quick Replies really helpful when they want to answer the door, but just can't make it in time,' Ring's EU & International Managing Director Dave Ward said. 'We're celebrating the beauty of Irish accents by personalising this useful feature and bringing authentic local dialects to doorsteps across Ireland.' People can also audition online, and will be asked to record a specific message. Pic: Smith Collection/Gado/Getty Images People who enter online can do it via the Ring app if you have a Ring doorbell and Ring subscription, by recording the video of you doing the greeting and pressing 'share with Ring,' or you can post your clip to Instagram and TikTok tagging @Ring and using the hashtag #RingsVoiceoftheNation.

Dettori to show Netflix star and fellow jockey how to win at famous race meeting

Frankie Dettori is set to give a masterclass in winning at Ascot to one of the shining talents of this Saturday's Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup. The superstar jockey bid farewell to Britain at the end of 2023 and has since been tearing up the tracks in the US, where he's quickly become one of the leading jockeys. Dettori, who participated in 12 editions of the Shergar Cup during his time in Britain, is renowned for his exceptional skill at Ascot, boasting 81 wins at Royal Ascot and earning the title of leading rider seven times. His most memorable moment came in 1996 when he won all seven races on the card, an achievement that became known as 'Frankie's Magnificent Seven'. Despite being scheduled to ride at Saratoga in New York state this Saturday, Dettori has reached out to offer American jockey Katie Davis some insider advice on how to conquer the iconic British course. Davis, 33, hails from a family steeped in racing history, with her father, sister, and brother all being former or current successful jockeys. With over 340 wins under her belt in the US and multiple stakes victories, Davis is gearing up for her first-ever British race at Ascot this Saturday. Her six rides will include Miss Information, the victor of the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, reports the Mirror. Frankie Dettori (centre) rode in 12 Shergar Cups (Image: PA) "We were both riding work for Wesley Ward when Frankie caught me off guard," Davis, who appeared in the popular Netflix documentary 'Race For The Crown', recalled. "He said, 'Don't you forget me. You gotta call me when the entries come out'. So we're going to Facetime. Trust me, I'm here to win." Davis joins the Rest Of The World squad alongside Hong Kong's Karis Teetan and Aussie Hugh Bowman, famed for his partnership with the legendary Winx, guiding her to 25 Group 1 triumphs. She enthused: "Words can't explain how much I am looking forward to it. I work well under pressure. It's more of an excitement for me. I will definitely enjoy every bit of it."
