Dennis 'Dee Tee' Thomas's former New Jersey home asks $7.5M

New York Post3 days ago
A Montclair, New Jersey residence that was once home to Kool & The Gang's founding member Dennis 'Dee Tee' Thomas is on the market for $7.5 million, Gimme Shelter has learned.
That's a staggering 525% increase from the $1.2 million the sellers paid for the property in 2021.
The six-bedroom, two-family dwelling at 82-84 Watchung Ave. sits on just under half an acre. It's divided into two townhouses, with three bedrooms apiece. The townhouses are also available for rent; each one asks $18,000 a month.

The home, which was built in 1908, was lovingly 'restored and renovated to bring it back to its former beauty,' said listing broker Allison Maguire, of Brown Harris Stevens,
'The work that went into the house — from the craftmanship, to the millwork and the design choices — it's just gorgeous,' Maguire said, adding that the seller is 'an extended band family member.'
Thomas — an alto saxophone player, flautist and percussionist — died in his sleep at age 70, in 2021. He purchased the home for $374,000 in 1999 and was a beloved member of the Montclair community.

'The town's Fourth of July parade would always go by the house and people would wave to him,' said Maguire.
The two-time Grammy-winning group is known for its jazzy soul-funk hits like 'Celebration' and 'Get Down On It.' Thomas was with the band for more than half a century from 1964 into the 2020s. Kool & The Gang is still actively touring.
Montclair is known for attracting creatives who enjoy the small-town atmosphere within easy reach to Manhattan. Famed residents include make-up mogul Bobbi Brown, who has a hotel in Montclair, and Stephen Colbert, whose show was recently canceled by CBS as Paramount and Skydance merged in a massive $8.4 billion deal.

We hear that Adam Sandler is also renting a home in Montclair, as he works on a new, untitled Netflix film tentatively called 'Roommates,' according to reports. He has also been spotted at local restaurants and playing basketball at Rand Park.
The townhomes feature three bedrooms, four baths and one powder room — plus an in-home elevator that connects all levels. There's also a heated two-car garage that could also be transformed into a studio or gym.
The offering works as a family compound or it could be used to generate income from one townhouse while living in the other, the listing notes.

The main level of each townhouse is anchored by a double-sided gas fireplace. Design details throughout include white oak floors, custom lighting and organic textures. There's also a sunlit chef's kitchen with a 9-foot island for casual meals.
A top-floor bedroom comes with a spa-like bath with radiant floor heating and a walk-in closet.
The finished basement can operate as a family room, a guest suite or an office. The house also features a wraparound porch and a backyard.

The best photos from day two of Darlington Pride - can you spot yourself?

Darlington Pride returned for a second day with families turning out for a special picnic. Pride in the Park kicked off in Hopetown on Sunday morning with families enjoying crafts, face painting, live music by Tracks Darlington, bubbles and storytelling. The event celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and follows a parade in Darlington town centre on Saturday. Hundreds flocked to the Market Square just before lunchtime donning flags and colourful outfits. The parade featured stalls, tribute acts, performances and speeches from the stage and was hosted by drag star Tess Tickle - and the fun is not over yet. Darlington Pride will conclude on Monday with MonGay Pride. They'll be live music, parties and special guests at venues across the town centre from 6pm to late. The celebrations will honour the longstanding legacy of Darlington's annual MonGAY Pride night. ITV presenter says ‘I don't know what I did wrong' after game show cancellation

Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has been left confused by the cancellation of his ITV game show. The channel has axed its series 99 to Beat, which premiered earlier this year, with Thomas stating: 'I don't know what I did wrong.' Thomas, 36, who played Adam Barton in Emmerdale until 2018, presented the series alongside his brother, former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas. The format saw 100 players whittled down over numerous games in a bid to win a £25,000 cash prize. News of the show's cancellation was revealed by Adam on his podcast Mancs on the Mic, where he admitted he was blindsided by ITV's decision. 'When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled,' he said. 'Like I did one series of [I'm a Celebrity spin-off] Extra Camp – got cancelled. The next presenting job I did was with Ryan – 99 To Beat – and that's got cancelled.' ITV confirmed the news to The Independent, but has not given a specific reason as to why the show was axed – despite it being 'one of the biggest entertainment launches this year' across all of its channels and streaming platforms. 'It reached 12.5 million viewers and was streamed over four million times on ITVX,' a spokesperson said, adding: 'The Thomas brothers are fantastic presenters, but unfortunately at this stage, we will not be recommissioning.' The 99 to Beat format originated in Belgium and has been adapted in 12 territories. The UK version aired in March 2025. Another show that received the axe this week after just one series is the critically acclaimed BBC drama This Town. Created by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight, the drama is set in the West Midlands during the 1980s and focuses on a group of young people who immerse themselves in the region's burgeoning music scene amid a backdrop of social unrest. However, despite strong reviews and winning Best Single Drama or Limited Series at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards in March, the show's run has been cut short. In a statement given to The Independent, a BBC spokesperson said: 'We're hugely grateful to Steven Knight and the cast and crew for bringing This Town to life – in no small part due to Steven's passion for the West Midlands.' Sabrina Carpenter Won't Fall for The Row's $690 Flip-Flops—Her $4 Pair Does the Trick

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. On July 14, Sabrina Carpenter shared her first Instagram-worthy photo dump of the month with her 48 million followers. Like famous peers Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, her vacation-season carousel included snaps of recent trips abroad. (Destinations: Paris and London, in Carpenter's case). Unlike other celebrities, however, the Grammy winner apparently packed $4 Old Navy flip-flops instead of The Row's $690 rubber slides for her travels. In the thirteenth photo, Carpenter propped her legs up on a wall (a beneficial yoga pose, BTW), simultaneously modeling her new Old Navy find. (There was no mistaking the flip-flop's for another brand's: She tagged the retailer directly.) Her photos doubled down on the polka-dot trend too, showing the black thongs with white polka-dots in one photo and a dotted manicure in another. She accessorized the Old Navy shoes with a spiral, of-the-moment anklet, another craze co-signed by Bieber, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and more. (Fans believe the ankle bracelet is actually a $10 mosquito repellant.) View Deal Why did she tag Old Navy, you ask? As a longtime Carpenter, I know she frequently takes cues from Taylor Swift's big book of Easter eggs. Seeing as she's never publicly worn Old Navy before, perhaps the post is teasing an upcoming collab with chief creative officer, Zac Posen. Old Navy's sister label, Gap, has dressed It girls like Emily Ratajkowski, Lila Moss, and Laura Harrier in recent months, so, teaming up with Carpenter wouldn't be too far-fetched. Of course, there could be a simpler explanation: the singer was just proud of her under-$5 summer shoe find. Old Navy rumors aside, Carpenter has been pro-polka-dot since early 2024, when the revival was just starting to pick up speed. In her "Taste" music video, she wore a black-and-white bubble skirt and the matching halter top to slay her (fictional) ex-boyfriend. Together, the Blondita two-piece cost $140. View Deal View Deal On the Short n' Sweet tour, her stylist, Jared Ellner partnered with Victoria's Secret to create her lingerie-inspired costumes, including a polka-dotted bodysuit she wore at the Paris show in March. It's rare for a Carpenter-approved piece to be as inexpensive as her Old Navy flip-flops, so get your hands on them while you still can. I've already bought two pairs.
