Coimbatore rural police launch 24x7 two-wheeler patrolling system
Coimbatore district superintendent of police Dr K Karthikeyan said the two-wheeler patrolling vehicles will function round-the-clock.
Thirty-five customized motorcycles with GPS trackers will be used for the patrol system. While heavy police stations will have two to three patrol vehicles, other stations will have one vehicle each.
He said that the locations of the patrol vehicles could be tracked with GPS devices fitted on them.
This enables the staff on duty at the police control room to dispatch the nearest vehicle to a location upon receiving an emergency call.
The two-wheeler patrol police personnel were given special training for two days. They were trained to use the police facial recognition system, e-challan machine, Vahan app, breathalyser, advanced body-worn cameras, and smart communication systems.

Each policeman in the patrol system is equipped with multiple devices for swift response," he said.
He also added that two cops were allotted for each motorcycle, and they would be engaged in patrolling their assigned areas.
"We have already identified crime-prone areas and instructed the patrol cops to cover these areas. They would monitor school areas during morning and evening hours. Similarly, the cops would focus on other activities as well," said a police officer.
On Friday morning, all the 35 two-wheeler patrol vehicles were lined up on the Police Recruit School premises. SP Karthikeyan flagged off the two-wheelers.

The regulator allowed the firm to resume trading, but under close monitoring. According to Sebi, its investigation found that while Jane Street's Indian entity executed intraday trades in the cash segment, its offshore arms-particularly in Singapore and Hong Kong-booked large profits through index options. Jane Street has denied allegations of market manipulation.

Man loses 8L in city's first mobile malware cyber fraud
Lucknow: Lucknow recorded its first case of mobile malware cyber fraud on Friday when a Nishatganj resident alleged that he was duped of Rs 8.70 lakh. Though the crime took place on July 20, the case was lodged only on Friday. Cyber experts said mobile malware cyber fraud is often referred to as an APK (Android Package Kit) scam or remote access trojan (RAT) attack. According to a complaint filed with the Cyber Crime Police Station, the victim received a call on his mobile on July 20 from an unknown number regarding Aadhaar card upgradation. Subsequently, an APK file named " was sent on his WhatsApp, which he downloaded and installed. Shortly after, the victim alleged that his mobile phone was hacked, enabling unauthorised access to his private savings account. Using his debit card, five separate fraudulent transactions were carried out on the same day: Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 1.98 lakh, Rs 1.50 lakh, and Rs 1.23 lakh. The total siphoned amount stands at Rs 8.70 lakh. The victim also lodged a complaint via the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930).
