The inaugural Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) 2025 is more than just a vibrant showcase of tropical blooms and landscape artistry. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa in her keynote speech at the official launching of the Borneo Flora Festival 2025 (BFF) today, emphasized the BFF was designed not merely to add to Labuan’s event calendar, but to serve as a catalyst for diversification and socioeconomic revitalisation.
LABUAN, July 26 (Bernama) -- The Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) has not only attracted residents of the Pearl of Borneo, but also visitors from outside the island who have come to celebrate the festival, which began today.
A visitor from Brunei Darussalam, Siti Norlila Rahim, 38, did not want to miss the opportunity to see the various species of flowers on display at the International Sea Sports Complex.
The mother of three said her family had arrived on the island by ferry from Brunei to Labuan yesterday to visit relatives living here.
'My mum told me there's a festival here (in Labuan), so I thought, why not come… and most importantly, there are also booths from Brunei involved in the festival,' she told Bernama.
Jinus Yoson, 51, from Tambunan, meanwhile, arrived in Labuan two days ago and came to the BFF as he did not want to miss the chance to witness the flower festival being held for the first time.
He said the arrangement and decorations at the BFF were very attractive, with colourful floral displays and various activities for visitors to take part in.
'If even the people of Labuan are coming, then those of us who don't live here surely won't miss the chance to come,' he said, adding that he was also visiting his child who worked on the island.
Nur Hayanti Asri, 18, from Kuala Penyu, said she was not only thrilled and excited as it was her first time attending such a festival, but also because she wanted to capture memorable photos with the flowers displayed at the BFF.
'As a young person, the first thing I thought of when deciding to come to the BFF was to take pictures to use as backgrounds and post them on Instagram,' she said, adding that she learnt about the festival through social media promotions.

Bale Says 100 Pct Sure Cannot Make It As Pro Golfer

LONDON, July 28 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) -- Gareth Bale admitted he was '100 per cent sure' that he could not become a professional golfer, PA Media/dpa reported. The former Real Madrid and Wales star is well known for his love of golf, and has cut his handicap from 'three or four' to just 0.1 since retiring from football in January 2023. That has led to suggestions that Bale — who has played on the PGA Tour at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where footage of him making a brilliant chip from a cart path went viral — could try and make it as a professional golfer, despite having turned 36 earlier this month.

Fasha Sandha & Nur Sajat Reunite In Singapore After Attending Siti Nurhaliza's Concert

Over the weekend, Biduanita Negara Dato Sri Siti Nurhaliza held a concert in Singapore, where a few familiar faces from Malaysia attended the show. Most people would expect Malaysian and Singaporean stars would meet up before or after the performance to catch up, but many were surprised when the icon acknowledged celebrity entrepreneur Nur Sajat in the audience. She thanked the model for attending her show, having flown all the way from Australia. It turns out, Siti wasn't the only one who greeted the business owner, as actress Fasha Sandha also shared that she met up with her old friend after the concert. Here's what went down: Yesterday (Sunday, 27th July), actress Fasha Sandha posted a carousel of photos and videos on Instagram, sharing moments from her meetup with Nur Sajat. She expressed how impressed she was by the model's star power, so much so that even the icon Siti Nurhaliza acknowledged her presence during the concert. 'I bet everyone misses Sajat, right? Let us pray that she'll continue to succeed. We have no right to judge others, as everyone is going through their own journey. All we can do is pray for the best for them,' she wrote in the caption. Sajat responded to the post, saying their reunion was long overdue and thanked Fasha for being a supportive friend. 'After four years, we finally saw each other again. Thank you, @fashasandha, for the moments yesterday that I will forever treasure. Although we're far apart, we remain good friends. You're such a beautiful soul. May you and your family always be blessed,' the entrepreneur wrote. It's clear that Sajat had a good time in Singapore. Not only did she manage to catch up with an old friend and attend Siti Nurhaliza's concert, but she also got to take a photo with the legendary singer backstage after the show! Maybe one day, she'll get to go home without any legal consequences.
