Huge music concert cancelled amidst safety fears as fans travel to venue

Daily Mirror5 hours ago
Lytham Festival has been cancelled due to "adverse weather conditions". The organisers released a statement on Friday evening hours before it was due to start.
They said: "Due to adverse weather conditions, we unfortunately have had to make the decision to cancel this evening. The safety of our customers, staff and artists is our priority and increasing high winds mean it would not be safe to go ahead."
On Friday, the likes of Alanis Morissette, Train, Liz Phair and more were due to perform. Fans fumed as they took to the festival's socials to claim they didn't find out about the cancellations until last minute.
One user said underneath the festival's Facebook post: "Omg I'm literally soaking wet waiting for the flyer and then some kind random lady told me it was cancelled. No email or text from you...very poor comms!"
Another furious user commented: "Ridiculous announcement too late, we are in a world where we absolutely know what the weather conditions will be, clearly not prepared with the right equipment. Glastonbury continues if your swimming to the stage. Bloody joke."
One questioned why it took them so long to post the news on social media. They said: "We were turned away 40mins ago. Shocking that it's taken this long to officially announce it on social media and your app."
This year's festival is supposed to host five nights of live music on Lytham Green on the baks of the Ribble Estuary. Over 100,000 people attend every summer, with the likes of Lionel Richie and Lewis Capaldi previously headlining.
Stevie Wonder kicked off this year's festival on Thursday evening with a supporting performance from Corinne Bailey Rae.

Lewis Capaldi makes second concert comeback in a week joining chart-topping star as surprise guest

LEWIS Capaldi made his second concert comeback in a week tonight as he joined a chart-topping star on stage as a special guest. The Someone You Loved singer played a surprise set at Glastonbury last weekend, his first gig in two years. 3 3 Lewis, 28, had taken a break from his music career in 2023 to focus on his health, and was delighted and emotional in equal measure as he received a huge welcome from the Worthy Farm crowd. Following the gig - which saw him perform new track Survive - Lewis confirmed he is hitting the road on a brand new tour in September. But before that, he delighted fans on Friday night when he took to the stage at BST Hyde Park Festival alongside headliner Noah Kahan. American singer Noah, 28, put on a cracking show for the crowd before bringing Lewis on for the encore. The pair then performed Noah's hit 2022 single, Northern Attitude, together. The appearance comes after Lewis spoke out about his Glastonbury performance, which came two years after his final performance at the festival before stepping away from the spotlight. In a heart-warming video posted on his social media, he revealed his true feelings surrounding the burn-out. Speaking from the heart, he told fans: "One word to describe how I'm feeling now is... spectacular." Looking back over his Glastonbury experience in 2023, he admitted: "This should be like, a really happy moment, and it isn't. "I'm like, achieving my dream here. If there was a film about being a singer, and starting as a kid, and they'd be like, Oh, I'd love to be a singer one day and perform in front people, I've done it. Lewis Capaldi breaks silence on emotional Glastonbury return after taking a break from music "I've got to the end of the film and it's not how I thought it was going to be. "And all these people are singing at me and I feel 1,000 miles away there, and I watch it back and actually feel sad. "Second song in, I was probably just thinking, this has to be it, like... I can't keep doing this to myself. "As far as I was concerned, it was like, I'm done. I didn't take a break to just focus on getting better. "I took a break because I needed a break and to sort of release the pressure valve a little bit." Within the montage, Lewis added pictures and home-filmed clips of himself performing as a youngster, full of hopes and dreams. He captioned the tear-jerking montage: "Been mad looking back at it all. Thank you so much for still being here." 3

Liam Gallagher spear-headed Oasis reunion as subtle gesture to Noel uncovered

EXCLUSIVE: Oasis first announced the reunion tour last year, but some fans were concerned Liam and Noel Gallagher could fall out before the tour even began When Oasis first announced their reunion tour, many were concerned brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher would fall out before they ever got to the stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Considering the duo were at loggerheads for 16 years, it's no surprise those who bought tickets were sceptical about their reunion. But now, almost a year after their tour was announced, Liam and Noel arrived on stage hand-in-hand as they raised their arms to the sky while 70,000 fans screamed in excitement over the special occasion. Body language expert Judi James exclusively revealed to The Mirror that the brothers "gave the fans a celebratory ritual that almost suggested an air of sibling peace and harmony, walking out with their arms raised together in acknowledgement." ‌ ‌ Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "It was really enough to see them on the same planet, in the same vicinity or on the same stage and getting through their set without anyone walking off. "But they gave the fans a celebratory ritual that almost suggested an air of sibling peace and harmony, walking out with their arms raised together in acknowledgment. "Analysis of the ritual is fascinating. It's Liam who has grabbed Noel's wrist to raise their arms, suggesting he's the one wanting to push the idea that they're reunited for real. He also places a confident and controlling hand onto Noel's shoulder, raising his maracas in the air in what looks like a V sign to signal victory." While belting out their biggest hits, there were moments where Noel looked "rather shell-shocked or emotionally overwhelmed". During Half The World Away, Noel needed to take a minute to take in everything around him. Judi said: "His arms hang at his sides, his head tilts forward and his lips appear clamped. He looks like a man holding his breath like the rest of the fans in the hope that the sibling bonds hold firm this time and they get through their tour in a state of (almost) total harmony." ‌ It's not an Oasis concert with Liam singing with his hands behind his back while Noel is 'hunched over his guitar'. "The stage placing looks a little more evenly balanced than all those years ago, with Noel appearing to be lined up with his brother, and the signature poses are still intact, with Noel hunched over his guitar while Liam poses as the edgy rebel, hands behind his back, head tilted back, looking like a guy who is using his mic like a public address system," Judi continued. ‌ "Liam still looks angry but in a good way. Noel's expressions as he sings mimic a wince of pain that shows the intensity of his performance. But it's the combined rituals of two brothers that have previously made warring bros like William and Harry, JR and Bobby and Thor and Loki look like best buddies, that would have got the fans choking with emotion." The hotly-anticipated tour is the culmination of months of speculation, a feverish ticket sale and a long 16 year wait from fans. A shock comeback was unveiled in August 2024, with the band declaring: 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.' A chaotic rush for tickets followed with 17 dates announced across London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin before the band announced more concerts in North America, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and Argentina - giving fans around the world the chance to hear the hits live again.

On her relationship with Alcaraz and how they became friends, Raducanu said: "I've known him for years. "Wimbledon 2021 was the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021. "We have a good relationship still. He's obviously overtaken me a lot, but it's nice that we have that from a while ago. "I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age because you're like, that's a real genuine connection. "Because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends but the ones that you've known for a long time mean a lot more to you." 5 Olivia Rodrigo watched Raducanu in action on Centre Court Credit: Getty
