Dhanashree Verma has broken silence on ex-husband Yuzvendra Chahal's 'be your own sugar daddy' T-shirt during their divorce hearing.
Actress Dhanashree Verma has broken silence on her husband and Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal's tshirt 'stunt' during the court proceedings of their divorce in March.
Chahal came to the final day wearing a black tshirt with 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' printed on it in a big font. Later, in a podcast, he said that he wanted to 'send a message' with it after 'something happened' from the other side.
Now, Dhanashree, in an interview with India Today, taunted her ex-husband saying that he should have texted her on WhatsApp instead of that. She also said that she was aware that people would always blame her of the two.
'You know that people are going to blame you," Dhanashree said. 'Before I had even known that this T-shirt stunt had happened, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for this. Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp, why wear the T-shirt?)" she asked.
Dhanashree and Chahal were said to be living separately for months before finally begining divorce proceedings.
I was just howling and crying: Dhanashree on divorce verdict
The actress revealed that she broke down before the final verdict on their divorce was given, unlike Chahal who 'walked out first, because she had stood up with the cricketer through every small or big thing.
'I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given. Even though we were so well-prepared mentally, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I couldn't even express what I was feeling at that point. I just remember that I just kept crying, I was just howling and crying. Of course! All of that happened, and he (Chahal) walked out first," Dhanashree said.
'You have to put in an effort. I know how much I have stood up for my partner, and everybody has seen that. Like for the smallest or biggest things, I have been there. Maybe because of that, my emotions came out. How you behave on that particular day is a reflection of you as a person."
Chahal is currently out of the Indian team across formats. He reached the final of IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings.
