19-year-old charged with reckless murder in Binford Drive shooting, HPD confirms
The Huntsville Police Department confirmed that Jamyah Pitts was arrested for reckless murder for her connection to the Binford Drive Shooting that occurred on May 30. 'The case is still under active investigation, and more charges could be forthcoming,' HPD said.
Court records show that she was arrested on June 6.
Huntsville Police responded to a report of a shooting in progress in the 200 block of Binford Drive around 4:30 a.m. The shooting left one person dead and another person injured. According to HPD, the second person received non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Tyrek Keshun Norris.
During HPD's investigation, officers gathered evidence identifying Pitts in connection to the shooting. They also found that Pitts was still inside an apartment in the 200 block of Binford Drive, police told News 19.
Pitts is currently being held in the Madison County Jail without bond, pending an Aniah's Law hearing on June 11.

Scottsboro Police find man accused of shooting officer following nearly 20-hour manhunt
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) — The Scottsboro Police Department said it has found a man who shot a police officer Saturday morning. As of 10:03 p.m., SPD said Daniel Victor McCarn has been found. He was found on the 2000 block of Old Larkinsville Road. SPD said a local business owner and a resident saw McCarn through a camera they had at a business in the area. SPD went to check out the lead, which led to his arrest without incident. Authorities used heat signatures from a drone to find McCarn near the railroad tracks just behind the business. SPD released thermal drone video of his capture, which can be viewed below: Earlier, at around 12:49 a.m., SPD said it responded to a domestic incident on Ruth Street. When officers arrived, the department said McCarn drove off in a vehicle and started a police chase. The chase ultimately ended in a crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and County Park Road. SPD released the following statement on McCarn: Daniel Victor McCarn Age 29 Formerly of Huntsville McCarn should be considered armed and dangerous The department said McCarn left the vehicle and began shooting at officers, and hit an SPD officer. He then ran away, and around 2:57 a.m., SPD said it was a multi-agency manhunt to find McCarn. Scottsboro Resident Daiton Ashmore lives down the road from where the incident took place. She said she heard it when she happened to get up in the night. 'I had to go use the bathroom and wanted to check on my kids, and I heard a popping noise,' she said. 'It was like a rapid pop pop pop. Honestly, it kind of made me think someone was knocking on the door.' She said a variety of law enforcement agents were combing through her yard shortly after. She and her neighbors were told to shelter in place. The officer was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. The department said the officer's injuries are not considered life-threatening. 'He is okay,' said Durham. 'We have spoken to him. He is being treated by Huntsville Hospital. He is injured. However, they are saying that they are not life-threatening injuries.' Durham added that the officer had a procedure done. SPD said Highway 72 around County Park Road had reopened to traffic. SPD said that heat during the day was a big obstacle in its search, as it made getting drones up for thermal aerial images difficult. SPD added that a family member of McCarn was the one who initially called SPD, which led to the incident. SPD said that he has no past criminal history. A Blue Alert was issued by ALEA around 12:15 p.m. A Blue Alert is issued when: Peace Officer is missing, injured, or killed and an at-large suspect is believed to be a serious threat to the public, ALEA said. Manhunt underway in popular tourist destination after sulfuric acid attack critically burns pedestrian
Authorities in Hawaii are searching for a suspect who allegedly threw acid into a man's face Friday night in Honolulu, leaving him in critical condition. According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), officers responded to an assault complaint shortly after 10 p.m. in the Chinatown area. Witnesses told officers a 30-year-old man was crossing the street when an unidentified suspect approached and threw an unknown liquid into his face. The Honolulu Fire Department later identified the liquid as sulfuric acid, a highly corrosive chemical that causes severe burns to skin, eyes and internal tissue. Emergency responders took the victim to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, an HPD spokesperson told Fox News Digital. Due to the severity of his injuries, HPD detectives were unable to interview him to gather additional information. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim did not know the suspect," the spokesperson said. "Right now, detectives are canvassing the scene to recover any surveillance video and locate any additional witnesses." HPD described the case as a first-degree assault, a serious felony in Hawaii. Detectives have not determined a motive, and it is unclear whether the attack qualifies as a hate crime. The suspect is described as a 6-foot man last seen wearing a blue fitted shirt and a do-rag with a camera around his neck and carrying a red bottle. The investigation is ongoing, police said. Man accused of Aniah Blanchard killing to face trial on capital murder charges
The man charged with the killing Aniah Blanchard in October 2019 will now face trial. Ibraheem Yazeed faces three charges of capital murder for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Blanchard, the stepdaughter of former UFC heavyweight Walt Harris. Yazeed will face trial March 2 in Macon County (Ala.) court, according to the Montgomery Advertiser. What happened to Aniah Blanchard? Blanchard, 19, was a college student at Auburn University when she went missing. Her disappearance was reported and an extensive search from authorities and volunteers ensued. Through surveillance camera and witness interviews, police concluded Blanchard and Yazeed ran into one another at a local convenience store. Footage showed Yazeed entering and exiting Blanchard's car. Yazeed, then 29, was eventually located and arrested. Blanchard's remains were located, as was her car. A "life-threatening amount of blood" was found in the vehicle. An autopsy showed Blanchard was shot to death. At the time of the alleged murder, Yazeed was out on $295,000 bail for multiple charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder from a prior incident. Since his arrest, Yazeed has been incarcerated without bond. He faces the death penalty. Aniah's Law Following Blanchard's death, "Aniah's Law" was passed in Alabama. The amendment tweaked laws that said only capital offenders would not have a right to reasonable bail. "Aniah's Law" added a series of serious crimes for which bail would not be allowed for accused offenders, like Yazeed was. Such offenses include first-degree rape, sexual torture, sodomy, terrorism, robbery, human trafficking and more.
