Strictly's Amy Dowden to be honoured at Buckingham Palace
Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden and composer John Rutter are among those set to be honoured by the King at Buckingham Palace.
The Welsh dancer will be formally made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to fundraising and raising awareness of inflammatory bowel disease, while Sir John will receive a knighthood for services to music in a ceremony on Tuesday.
Dowden revealed in 2019 that she was living with Crohn's disease before fronting a BBC programme titled Strictly Amy: Crohn's And Me, in which she spoke about her struggles with the condition.
Three years later, she was admitted to hospital in Manchester following a Crohn's flare-up while on the Strictly live tour.
In 2023, the dancer was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after coming back from her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones, and revealed in the 2024 BBC documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer And Me that she has frozen some embryos.
Sir John, who is also a conductor, editor and arranger, is best known for his choral compositions, including Christmas carols, anthems and extended works such as the Gloria, the Requiem and the Magnificat.
He has previously had compositions commissioned for major royal events including Queen Elizabeth II's golden jubilee and for the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 2011.
More recently, the first two choral items sung at the late Queen's platinum jubilee national service of thanksgiving in June 2022 and six pieces performed at the coronation of King Charles were arrangements by Sir John.
Sir John was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to music in the 2007 New Year Honours, and in 2023 he became a Fellow of The Ivors Academy.
Among other recipients due to be honoured on Tuesday are Jasvinder Sanghera, who will be made a Dame Commander for services to the victims of child, forced marriage and honour-based abuse.
Dame Jasvinder, from Derby, was just 14 years old when she was faced with the prospect of a forced marriage, but defied her parents' wishes by refusing and leaving home.
Ostracised by her family, she later founded the charity Karma Nirvana in 1993, described as the first specialist charity for victims and survivors of honour-based abuse in the UK.
In November last year, she was appointed by Harrods as an advocate for survivors of alleged abuse by its late former owner Mohamed Al Fayed.
Dame Jasvinder said she was 'honoured to be a part of this project' because she believed the department store wished to 'get this right'.

"However - to share those scenes with the world is utterly bizarre and, in my view, takes away all the magic of the moment. I cannot imagine why she chose to release it. Maybe show it one day to your nearest and dearest— but to anyone and everyone who wants to click on it? "I can hear the voice of the late Queen's former private secretary, Lord Charteris, repeating the comments he once made about Fergie: 'Vulgar, vulgar, vulgar'. "If the King has watched it, which I doubt, though he can't have missed the headlines I'm sure he would be horrified. Royalty has to carry with it some measure of dignity." Since sharing the clip many have questioned why she posted it, given the couple's supposed desire for privacy. And Jennie added: "I'm glad they were so happy before the birth, I'm glad Harry was there to support his wife in every way, I'm delighted to hear that he's such a great dad. But they really can't have it both ways. "They can't demand privacy and be so coy about sharing images of their children and then show us all these intensely intimate scenes. And she cannot expect to be treated as if she's royal whilst behaving like a click-hungry social media influencer. "Having said all that, there's no doubt that videos like this connect in a very real way to young people. And perhaps that's what Meghan is trying to do. My own daughter thought the video humanised both Meghan and Harry and was light-hearted and hugely relatable. It reminded her of her own pregnancies and labour and she thought it was rather charming. The former face of offered insight into his girlfriend and daughter's thoughts on the infamous Strictly scandal. Wynne Evans, most recognisable from the old adverts, has revealed his family's reaction to the ongoing Strictly Come Dancing scandal that has ended in his BBC Wales radio show being cancelled. In a recent interview, he shared his girlfriend and daughter's thoughts to the public controversy, which included allegedly making an inappropriate comment during the Strictly live tour. Wynne maintains that what was alleged to be a "sexual" comment directed towards presenter Janette Manrara in which he used the term "spit roast", was in fact a joke aimed at co-star Jamie Borthwick - who has now been suspended from EastEnders for using a derogatory word to describe disabled people on the Strictly set in Blackpool. In the aftermath of the Wynne's alleged comment to Janette, the BBC 'decided not to renew' the contract for his radio show. In the course of detailing his side of the story, he also unveiled his family's insights on the matter, just days before this axe was announced. Initially, in conversation with The Sun, Wynne divulged his discussion with his daughter about the aftermath of the allegations. He explained: "I said, 'I'm sorry if I brought any embarrassment to you and shame', and she said, 'Dad, you would never bring embarrassment to me'. She's been so... just like straight down the line." Discussing the chat with his girlfriend, Liz Brookes, he recounted: "Yeah, Liz has been the same. "You know, Liz is one of these people who morals are very high, who always holds people to account, and she saw it unfolding, you know." He elaborated on her reaction after he explained his side: "And as soon as I said to her, you know, 'Look, this is what I said', and you can actually see what I said when you watch the video. "You've seen the video. You can actually see it. So, you know, 'Okay, yeah, I understand what you were doing'." It comes after claims that Wynne's friends have compiled a dossier, allegedly containing screenshots and videos, which they argue "prove his innocence" after the celebrity stated his reputation was unfairly left "in tatters". Wynne said that he wasn't referring to Janette at all, which he claims is also known to others. A confidant revealed: "Wynne's team has had the clip sent off to a cyber forensics team, which has come back with a word nobody had previously picked up on; they believe it changes everything." Reports suggest that Wynne was actually heard saying "old spit roast boy" while speaking to his mate and Strictly co-star, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, which his friends argue demonstrates he wasn't alluding to Janette, reported Manchester Evening News. Wynne clarified that his comment was in reference to Jamie executing a dance move that involved raising his legs above his head, likening him to a spit roast chicken. The star's dance partner, Katya Jones, has also supported him through the scandal, after the pair previously caused a stir during the series by playing a joke on audiences, which saw the professional dancer moving Wynne's hand away from her waist.
