Lord Erskine rolls back the years
The remarkable 12-year-old, sent off at 22-1, notched his 12th career success with a gutsy display which saw him get the better of former Group 1 winner Helvic Dream by a half-length.
Rogers said: 'This proves that miracles do happen, but rarely in Fairyhouse. He's an unbelievable horse — he just eats, sleeps, and runs and never needs a vet.
'You'd think he'd be getting slower at his age. But Darragh is clued-in and knows him well and gave him a peach of a ride.'
Rogers suggested that, if he comes out of the race well, Lord Erskine might head to Punchestown next week while a flat race in Killarney might also be on his agenda.
The Declan Queally-trained Custom Taylor, winner of a Limerick maiden last time, again proved his stamina when landing the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final, denying Irish National heroine Rebecca Curtis further big-rate success with Andy Amo, with just a half-length separating them after a titanic tussle.
'He's a grand horse and has progressed with racing,' commented Queally Jr. 'He ran well at Galway back in October, but had a few small blips since then. He won well in Limerick and proved today that he stays very well. He could win nice three-mile chases down the road — you'd never know where he'll end up.'
Morning gamble Kiltealy Park bagged the fourth and most significant win of her career when, ridden by Philip Donovan, getting up on the line to pip True Testimony in the listed BoyleSports Mares Handicap Chase.
The six-year-old is trained by Paul Nolan whose brother and assistant James explained: 'She was too careful in her jumping the last day in Wexford, so we tried the blinkers today, and they worked. I'm delighted for the owners that she has won her black type.
'We were struggling to find a claimer to ride her and Sean Flanagan (rode runner-up True Testimony) nominated Philip as a good option.'
The Nolans looked set to complete a double when their Secrecies Of Stone, in the lead, blundered and unshipped Georgie Benson at the second last, leaving favourite Vaureal in front in the Fairyhouse Racecourse Ladies National. But Maxine O'Sullivan produced Tony Martin's Read To Return with a well-timed challenge to lead before the last before going away to score by four lengths.
'Maxine gave the horse a great ride,' stated Martin. 'She crept away and he jumped well, except for the second last. He's a horse that's had a few little issues and never got the hop of the ball until today.'
Philip Donovan, successful on Kiltealy Park, went on to complete his first double on the well-backed, Cormac Farrell-trained Locked Box, who made all to land the Tom Quinlan Electrical Maiden Hurdle at the expense of Letos and uneasy favourite Kainsbourg.
David Christie won the prestigious Race Displays Joseph O'Reilly Hunters Chase for the second time when Big Interest (Barry O'Neill) romped to a convincing all-the-way success.
The six-year-old jumped soundly until making a mistake three out (O'Neill lost an iron briefly) but was soon back on an even keel and romped home 18 lengths clear of Hollow Games in a race which saw odds-on favourite Ryehill jump deplorably before being pulled up a mile from home.
'Jumping was the winning of it,' said winning trainer Christie. 'He's a huge horse, with a huge stride. He went through a weak spell and we decided to harden him up. He might go to Punchestown next week and should be a lovely horse next season.'
Willie Mullins ended the day without a winner when 5-2 favourite Hello Jean lost out to Colm Murphy's Zanoosh (Jimmy O'Rourke) in the mares' bumper.

Diego Velazquez highlights O'Brien's impressive Curragh treble
Classy Diego Velazquez bagged his second Group 2 success and retained his unbeaten record on home soil when landing the Romanised Minstrel Stakes, highlight of a Sunday treble for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore. Close to the pace, set by California Dreamer, the 11/8 favourite hit the front before the furlong-pole and then responded to Moore's handling to hold 25/1 shot East Hampton by a neck. 'This year has been a bit of a mess for him. He got upset in the stalls at Leopardstown and had to be withdrawn. And then the 'Queen Anne' turned into a non-event for him," O'Brien explained. "A mile is his trip – this seven furlongs was a bit short and the ground a bit easy. But everyone has been happy with him at home and he's a classy horse, powerful and strong, and knuckled down well.' Described by his rider as 'uncomplicated, with a very good attitude" Diego Velazquez will now step back up to a mile and into Group 1 company, with Goodwood's Sussex Stakes and the Prix Jacques Le Marois possible targets. Following the withdrawal of morning favourite Signora, Moore switched to Sugar Island in the opening two-year-old fillies maiden. Although a market drifter, drifting out to 9/2, the Dubawi filly delivered in good style to spark the Ballydoyle treble. Having raced prominently, she stayed on to beat fellow debutante Saint Agatha by a half-length. 'She was ready for her first run and was very green," O'Brien commented. "Ryan said that when he asked her to quicken at the two, she found plenty – and that's a good sign. She'll have no problem going a mile this season and should be a lovely filly over a mile and a quarter, or more, next year.' The Ballydoyle treble was completed when 88-rated Light As Air dug deep to see off Winston Junior in the mile and a half maiden. Earlier, the Paddy Twomey-trained One Look, stepping-up to a mile and a quarter for the first time, bounced back from her trip to Royal Ascot when taking the Group 3 Al Shira'aa Racing Meadow Court Stakes under Wayne Lordan, sweeping past Azada inside the final furlong to score by a length, with favourite Tasmania coming from last to take third spot. 'She didn't enjoy the clearest passage through, but Wayne looked happy, and she hit the line well,' stated Twomey. 'Ascot didn't work out for her and she appreciated the ten furlongs today, on softer ground. "We just let her tick over since Ascot. But she's four now and we might run her a bit more. We might look at races like the Blandford, back here, the Romanet and the Opera with her.' Winning rider Lordan added: 'I sat where I was happy and she travelled quite well. As Billy (Lee) told me, she hit a bit of a flat spot but, when I pulled her out, I knew she'd finish well. She pulled up when she got to the front, but won well.'

Aidan O'Brien up for a fight as Group 1 superstar with ‘blistering turn of foot' smashed in betting for £1million race
AIDAN O'BRIEN is up for a scrap with John Gosden - after a massive market move suggested Delacroix is set to take on Field Of Gold. A tidal wave of money for the former means the Group 1 superstars will likely do battle in the awesome £1million Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. 1 Delacroix ran a stormer under Ryan Moore to deny William Buick on Ombudsman in a thrilling Coral-Eclipse Credit: ©Debbie Burt And sandwiched in the middle is Richard Hannon's star miler Rosallion. It looked like brilliant St James's Palace winner Field Of Gold would be in a straight head-to-head with Rosallion. But the fact Delacroix has been destroyed from as big as 25-1 into 5-1 shows 'the lads' at Coolmore fancy their chances at a mile. Delacroix won the 1m2f Coral-Eclipse on his last run, coming from nowhere under Ryan Moore to nut Ombudsman on the line. O'Brien said afterwards that Moore had told him he felt Delacroix would be a miler. And they will now test that theory - after it had looked likely he would head to the Juddmonte at York. But the money is rarely wrong with the Coolmore horses. William Hill slashed Delacroix to 5s from 16-1. Most read in Horse Racing And spokesperson Lee Phelps said: "We're two weeks away from the Sussex Stakes, and the much-anticipated clash between Field Of Gold and Delacroix could be coming sooner than we thought. "The Juddmonte had seemed their potential first head-to-head, but we've taken notable money for Aidan O'Brien's Eclipse hero to see him more than halve in price for the Sussex. "He's now a 5-1 shot from 16s, and while he still has a way to go to get to Field Of Gold at 4-7 favourite, his price collapse could suggest that Ballydoyle are seriously considering dropping him back to the mile. "We'd still expect Field Of Gold to be very hard to beat over this course and distance, but their meeting would be a tantalising prospect for racing fans." Chelsea signing Morgan Rogers could fire them to title with English core to rival days of John Terry and Frank Lampard
IF world champions Chelsea sign Morgan Rogers, they will fancy their chances of becoming the kings of England too. And perhaps one of the most English squads to lift the title in the cosmopolitan Premier League era. 6 Chelsea could become Premier League champions if they sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers 6 Cole Palmer has a long history with Rogers from their time together at Manchester City When England boss Thomas Tuchel took his squad to the Spanish Grand Prix before their World Cup qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona, Blues' quintet There is a clear drive to bring in English stars as they try to bring back the days when John Terry, Frank Lampard and the Coles - Ashley and Joe - were central to turning the club into domestic and European heavyweights. Read More on Chelsea The Blues have already signed England Under-21 internationals Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens this summer. And while it is true that Madueke is set to leave, and Chalobah may follow, along with another Englishman in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, plenty of homegrown influence will remain. Tosin Adarabioyo is a former England youth international, while teenage Academy products Tyrique George, Josh Acheampong and Omari Kellyman have all represented England at junior level. After Most read in Football CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS 6 Colwill was bullish about the team's chances of adding further big trophies to the first silverware under the new owners. And signing Cole Palmer and Chelsea celebrate in style as they arrive back at their hotel after Club World Cup victory There are plenty of hurdles to overcome before that. Not least Villa's desire to avoid, if at all possible, having to cash in on their best player. But once these things are out in the open, and when the potential buyers know the potential sellers need to raise money, a deal can start to gain momentum. Rogers, too, may feel that the time is right to make his next move, even after less than 18 months at Villa Park. The failure to secure a return to the Champions League was a big blow for the club. But Rogers' performances in the competition last season will have given him a taste for it and the belief that he could force his way into Chelsea's already star-studded frontline. 6 Rogers could help Chelsea recreate a strong English core, similar to the days of John Terry 6 Terry and Frank Lampard led Chelsea's English core back in the glory days Palmer is the Blues' main man and he and Rogers are close after growing up together in Manchester City's Academy. Palmer has admitted nicking his trademark 'cold' celebration from Rogers. But he would no doubt give his former team-mate a warm welcome to London. They would not be the only former City youngsters to pitch up at Stamford Bridge. Tosin was there between the ages of six and 23, Gittens had two years in the academy in his mid-teens before joining Borussia Dortmund and Delap played under Maresca when the current Chelsesa boss was in charge of City's B team. If Chelsea were to become regular contenders for football's biggest prizes, questions would be asked about City's readiness to sell homegrown English stars. Chelsea emulating Man City One of the few things that Pep Guardiola and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho have ever agreed on is the importance of native players to creating champions. During City's dominance of English football, it is surely no coincidence that their players have also been prominent in the revival of the national team. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph were part of the England squad that reached the 2018 World Cup semi-finalS. Phil Foden replaced Delph as the City contingent stayed at four for the delayed Euro 2020 tournament. Eighteen months later at the Qatar World Cup, there were five: Stones, Walker, Foden, Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips. Foden, Stones and Walker were all at Euro 2024, too. Now Chelsea's young English contingent are set to be the core of international squads for years to come. Former Blues boss Tuchel's first task is to try to make the Three Lions into world champions next year. If Chelsea can add Rogers to their ranks, he and his new club-mates could go to the World Cup as Premier League winners. 6
