Chicago names new film office leader
Natasha P. Olguin is the new deputy commissioner of the Chicago Film Office, the city's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) announced Tuesday.
Why it matters: The Chicago Film Office leader's responsibilities include enticing studios and filmmakers to film in the city, which brings in tax revenue and creates local jobs.
Zoom in: Olguin is from North Lawndale, according to a DCASE press release, and has been a producer, location manager, writer and director.
Some of the television and film projects Olguin has worked on include "Contagion," "The Dark Knight," "Ironheart," and "The Chi."
She is a union member of IATSE Local 476, as well as the Producers Guild of America and Directors Guild of America.
Flashback: Predecessor Jonah Zeiger left DCASE last year along with several other leaders after reported clashes with the new administration.
Mayor Brandon Johnson selected Clinée Hedspeth for DCASE commissioner after firing Erin Harkey in early 2024.
State of play: Productions currently filming in Chicago include Apple TV's "Dark Matter," the Dick Wolf "Chicago" franchise and the film "Enemies," starring Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler.

At the same time, Thorne had a confident response to what she would say to fans hesitant to get on board the "Ironheart bandwagon." "I would say get on the bandwagon," Thorne answered. "It's here. We're here... I mean, Tony's on the bandwagon, so you know, what's the problem? RDJ is here. It's nice here. It's cute here. It's comfy here. It smells good here." By saying "RDJ is here," Thorne was referencing the fact that Robert Downey Jr. reached out to the younger star to give his blessing to her picking up the Iron Man mantle as Ironheart. Thorne debuted as Riri Williams/Ironheart in 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". She becomes a central figure in the looming conflict between Wakanda and Talokan after the MIT student develops a device capable of locating vibranium. New Ironheart Trailer: To Protect People, Wakanda Forever's Riri Williams Must Think ‘Outside the Box'
Tech genius Riri Williams takes advice from her late stepfather and breaks herself down in order to see what she is made of, in a new trailer for Marvel Television's Ironheart, below. Premiering on Disney+ Tuesday, June 24 at 9/8c (with its first three episodes), Ironheart is set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and 'pits technology against magic when Dominique Thorne's Riri — determined to make her mark on the world — returns to her hometown of Chicago. The series also stars Lyric Ross (This Is Us) as Riri's best friend Natalie Washington, Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) as friend 'Joe McGillicuddy,' Manny Montana (Graceland) as Cousin John, Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington, Anji White as Riri's mother Ronnie, and Regan Aliyah (reportedly as Zelma Stanton). 'Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,' says executive producer and Black Panther director/co-writer Ryan Coogler. 'In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship — she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.' Chinaka Hodge served as head writer on the Marvel series, with episodes directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Executive producers include Hodge, Coogler, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler. Want scoop on , or for any other Marvel TV show?
