NY man accused of dumping boy's corpse also faces child sex abuse charges: DA
Hugo Perez-Gabriel, 32, was arraigned on a felony complaint charging him with the use of a child in a sexual performance, disseminating indecent material to minors, and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
More Crime News
Perez-Gabriel was charged earlier this month with concealment of a human corpse and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Jonson Temaj, 15, was found dead near Charles Street and Washington Avenue around 6:15 a.m. on Feb. 6, 2024, according to the New Rochelle Police Department.
Police said Perez-Gabriel and his 16-year-old nephew allegedly removed Temaj from a nearby home and left him on a sidewalk. Temaj was found without a shirt or shoes when police arrived, authorities said.
Early in February, Perez-Gabriel used WhatsApp to request sexual material from Temaj. The victim sent Perez-Gabriel two videos, according to a criminal complaint.
'The allegations in this complaint are extremely disturbing. The fact that this same defendant was previously charged in connection with the dumping of a 15-year-old boy's corpse makes this case all the more horrific,' DA Cacace said. ' My office is working around the clock to find out what happened to this boy, and I am committed to delivering justice to his family.'
Temaj has been identified as the same victim who allegedly communicated with Perez-Gabriel on WhatsApp.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.

Former Miami Heat security officer pleads guilty to selling stolen memorabilia
Kurt Helin breaks down the NBA games you must tune into as hardwood action returns to NBC and makes its debut on Peacock for the 2025-26 season. MIAMI (AP) — A former Miami Heat security officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to transporting and transferring millions of dollars worth of stolen game-worn jerseys and other memorabilia. Marcos Thomas Perez, 62, was a 25-year retired veteran of the Miami Police Department. The Miami resident worked for the Heat from 2016 to 2021 and as an NBA security employee from 2022 to 2025. According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida and FBI Miami, Perez stole more than 400 jerseys and other items from a secured equipment room and sold items through various online marketplaces. He had access because he worked on the game-day security detail at the Kaseya Center. He was one of a few employees with access to a secured equipment room that stored memorabilia the Heat organization planned to display in a future team museum. Over a three-year period, authorities say Perez sold more than 100 stolen items for approximately about $1.9 million and shipped them across state lines, often at bargain prices. They say he sold a Miami Heat jersey LeBron James wore during the NBA Finals for approximately $100,000. That same jersey later sold at a Sotheby's auction for $3.7 million.

Local officials condemn deportation of 6-year-old student and mother to Ecuador
Editor's note: The video aired on July 31. QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Local officials are speaking out after a 6-year-old student in Queens and her mother were detained by ICE and deported to Ecuador. A joint statement was released by Assembly Member Catalina Cruz and Council Member Shekar Krishnan that reads in part, 'We are heartbroken to hear the news that early this morning, the Trump administration deported a 6-year-old student from PS 89 in Elmhurst, Queens, as well as her mother, to Ecuador.' More Local News The statement continues, 'There is no greater depravity than separating a family and deporting a 6-year-old child two weeks before she is supposed to start school. It is a shameful stain on our country's history and conscience. 'The Trump administration and its mass deportation agenda, carried out by ICE, is utilizing our courts as a means to detain, bully, and terrorize people who lawfully appear for their required check-ins and hearings. It has now torn a family apart, separating children from parents and ripping a young child from her community. 'Separating families doesn't make anyone safer. It only generates fear and tears apart our neighborhoods. It is an abhorrent practice, and it must end now.' The statement assures that local officials are working with legal counsel, the Department of Education, and government agencies to have the mother and daughter returned. More: Latest News from Around the Tri-State The detention, first reported by the nonprofit news outlet The City, isn't the first time ICE has detained a New York City public school student after they had been in the vicinity of the federal building. Mamadou Diallo, another New York City student, was detained by ICE during a routine hearing, City Council Member Lincoln Restler said.
