
Indians, Filipinos among 15 held in Immigration Raid on Kota Kinabalu eateries
Published on: Fri, May 23, 2025 Text Size: The Sabah Immigration Department detained 15 undocumented migrants during an enforcement operation at four eateries in the city centre on Wednesday night. The 7pm operation was led by Sabah Immigration Director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof, alongside top enforcement officials and 63 officers from various enforcement units. Out of 64 individuals screened, 15 were arrested for various immigration offences. The detainees included nationals from India and the Philippines. Violations included the absence of identification documents and breach of visa conditions. All detainees were taken to the Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation and action. Chinese national fined for overstaying in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU (Aug 4): An Immigration Court here fined a Chinese national RM10,000, in default, six months' jail for overstaying in Sabah. Judge Hurman Hussain imposed the fine on Wang Hongzang after the latter pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, punishable under Section 15 (4) of the same Act. Wang, who holds a People's Republic of China passport, admitted to committing the offence at the departure hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on July 16. The charge stated that Wang had overstayed in the state after his social visit pass had expired for one month and 12 days. The pass only valid until June 5. Wang had paid his fine.

They then wake a homeless man sleeping on a walkway to offer the food, capturing his initial joy turning to confusion upon discovering the contents. The video ends with leftover food also being given to a pet dog. The video had since sparked accusations of cruelty and humiliation in the comments section. One Instagram user said the act lacked basic dignity, while others on Threads tagged police and regulators, urging action over the so-called 'social experiment.' In response, one of the content creators claimed the man had agreed to participate and had also been given a proper meal off-camera. Cable theft causes power outage in Telipok, nearby areas

KOTA KINABALU: A cable theft has caused a power outage affecting Intan Sabah Campus, Telipok, and surrounding areas on Sunday, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) confirmed. The incident, involving an attempted underground cable theft on a 33kV line linking PPU Kibing to PPU Manggatal, led to major damage and disrupted supply from midday. Technical teams were deployed immediately to carry out overnight repair works, supported by five mobile generators supplying power to affected areas. Sabah Electricity Chief Operating Officer Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusuf said the team worked continuously until power was restored at 5.14am on Monday.
