‘Avatar: Fire and Ash' first official trailer out: Jake Sully set to face new enemies fiercely in this James Cameron film
Disney
, following its footage leaking after the teaser was shown exclusively in theaters last week with 'Fantastic Four: First Steps'.
The trailer takes moviegoers back to Pandora and introduces two new tribes: the Wind Traders and the fire-wielding Ash People clan.
Earlier, filmmaker James Cameron took the stage at the 2024 D23 Expo to give viewers a glimpse of the terrifying, soot-covered tribe dancing around a massive fire pit. 'You'll see a lot more Pandora than you've ever seen before,' Cameron said at the Expo. 'It's an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it's also got very high emotional stakes—more than ever before,' he said during the presentation.
'We're going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.
In the trailer, Jake Sully's family and the Metkayina are shown joining forces to fight Varang and her flaming army, who have allied with Quaritch (
Stephen Lang
). Parts of Pandora's woodland are shown burning due to Varang's fires, hinting at her ability to control fire. At the end of the trailer, she ominously declares, "Your goddess has no dominion here."

The first Avatar, released in 2009, became the highest-grossing film of all time, raking in $2.9 billion globally. The first sequel, 2022's The Way of Water, became the third-highest-grossing movie of all time (with $2.3 billion), exceeding expectations and silencing those who doubted Cameron could deliver another Avatar blockbuster. Few now question his ability to draw enormous box office returns with the franchise, and there is strong confidence that Fire and Ash will succeed when it releases on December 19 as a major holiday tentpole.
Cameron hinted that Fire and Ash 'will be a bit longer' than The Way of Water, although a runtime has not yet been confirmed. The last film ran for three hours and twelve minutes.
'In a nutshell, we had too many great ideas packed into act one of [The Way of Water],' Cameron recently said. 'The [film] was moving like a bullet train, and we weren't drilling down enough on character. So I said, 'Guys, we've got to split it.' [Fire & Ash] will actually be a little bit longer than [The Way of Water].'
Cameron has planned five Avatar films and intends to direct all of them. Much of the footage, he has said, has already been shot. Avatar 4 is set for release on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 will arrive on December 19, 2031.
Along with Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña, the returning cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco, and Dileep Rao.
Oona Chaplin plays Varang, the leader of the Ash People. David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh are also joining the cast.
The official description of Fire and Ash reads, 'Jake and Neytiri's family grapples with grief after Neteyam's death, encountering a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe, the Ash People, who are led by the fiery Varang, as the conflict on Pandora escalates and a new moral focus emerges."
'Avatar: Fire and Ash' is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19, 2025 — three years after Avatar: The Way of Water.

Box Office: Superman crosses Jurassic World Rebirth domestically; Dinosaur film wins global contest with a USD 200 million margin
Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth are among Summer 2025's biggest blockbusters globally. Both the movies have comfortably broken even theatrically and the big chunk of non-theatrical revenue, along with the recurring revenue through syndication shall act as their profit. The two movies engaged in a close battle at the domestic box office but Superman has finally taken the lead in its fourth week and that will remain constant till both movies end their run. Superman Wins The Domestic Battle Against An Able Rival Like Jurassic World: Rebirth The superhero movie released a week after Jurassic World: Rebirth, but it has still managed to go past the dinosaur movie, courtesy strong word of mouth. The total domestic collections of Superman have crossed USD 320 million at the time of this article, and the lifetime collections are likely to be in the USD 370 million range. On the other hand, Jurassic World: Rebirth is likely to end its run with collections of around USD 340 million. Jurassic World: Rebirth Takes The Global Win The story is different at the global box office as the Scarlett Johansson movie is comfortably ahead of the David Corenswet film. Jurassic World: Rebirth stands at slightly under USD 800 million, compared to the little under USD 600 million global gross of Superman. Both movies will add USD 60-80 million from here and this means that the difference between the two movies will be around USD 200 million, in favour of the Jurassic movie. Lilo And Stitch Is Summer 2025's Biggest Winner The biggest global summer hit of 2025 is Lilo And Stitch. The movie, despite mixed word of mouth, and a clash with Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, hit a billion dollars globally. This Disney movie's reception reiterates that audiences have not had enough of family-comedies yet. Key Takeaways From Summer 2025 There are a few key takeaways from Summer 2025. Asia is no longer the major contributor it once used to be for Hollywood films. Yes, old-school films like Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth are still getting the audiences but they are not operating at all time high levels or even close. Films like Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which are big blockbusters domestically, need to find a way to engage the international audiences just as much. Although not disappointing, the overseas reception of both these movies is not up to the mark.

But there's a deeper, emotional journey behind this trend. Aalim Hakim on 'Saiyaara' star Ahaan Panday aka Krish Kapoor's viral hairstyle Celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim, wrote on Instagram that styling Saiyaara was an emotional experience. He emphasized that small elements like body language, attire, and most importantly, hair, shape movie characters in addition to the script. The brief for Krish Kapoor's hair was specific: imperfect, emotionally damaged, yet naturally raw. To produce a style that seemed expressive and lived-in, Aalim Hakim's team experimented with color tones, worked on texture, and did extensive style assessment. Crucially, Ahaan Panday fully embraced the hairstyle, allowing it to flow seamlessly in both action and emotional scenes. More about Aalim Hakim Since 'Zeher' in 2005, Aalim Hakim has worked with filmmaker Mohit Suri and has contributed to all of his projects that followed. He sees Mohit Suri as a storyteller as much as a director, considering style to be an integral part of the character's inner world. Fashion was more than just a style component in 'Saiyaara'; it became an essential part of the story, quietly exposing the characters' identities, inner pain, and emotional depth. Although Krish Kapoor's haircut is a cultural icon today, its strength comes from how strongly it relates to the character's identity. Ahaan Panday has cemented his reputation as a rising young star by embracing the style rather than only adopting it.
