Gokaraju Ganga Raju was appointed as the honorary president, with Chalasani Anjaneyulu as president and Trinath as general secretary. Gokaraju Ganga Raju requested the government to ensure a smooth and hassle-free celebration of Ganesh Navaratri, which begins on August 27, 2025.
'For hundreds of years, people across Andhra Pradesh, from small villages to big cities, have been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great devotion,' said Ganga Raju. 'The Samiti urges the government to provide permissions for pandals through a single-window system and to offer full cooperation from various departments to prevent any issues,' he said.
President Anjaneyulu elaborated on the specific requests, stating, 'We ask the state to direct local administrative bodies, the health department, and the electricity department to provide adequate sanitation, medical services, and power supply for the pandals. The police department should ensure sound system permission, provide security, and clear routes for the immersion processions. Additionally, we request the Irrigation department to arrange platforms and cranes at the immersion sites,' he said.
General secretary Trinath said, 'We request that there be no restrictions on the height of Ganesh idols and that the government refrain from imposing various fees for permits. The Andhra Pradesh Ganesh Utsav Samiti asks the government to issue appropriate instructions to all departments to ensure the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations are joyful and successful, and that organisers are treated with respect and honour.'

MCC moves for flex-free city, seeks cooperation of organisers
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) decided to curb flex usage during the festival period, aiming to make the city 'flex-free' and thereby prevent pollution. The MCC sought support from political, religious, and social bodies to keep the city free from flex hoardings. The MCC also issued a warning that violators will face action under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act. In a public notice issued on Aug 5, the MCC sought the cooperation of individuals and organisations in this direction. The MCC's public notice ahead of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, and other festivals will mandate all organisers in the city limits to stick to the rules by avoiding unauthorised flex and other public materials in public places. Meanwhile, MCC commissioner Ravichandra Naik stated that the drives to remove unauthorised hoardings, cutouts, flex banners, posters, and buntings in the city corporation limits are being conducted continuously. He also sought cooperation from the public to keep the city clean with the motto: 'flex-free festival - clean environment for our safety'. "The MCC has the authority to impose penalties and file criminal cases against those who put up illegal hoardings and flex under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act and govt order dated March 11, 2016. Mysuru: Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraju urged devotees to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly and harmonious way. Presiding over a meeting on the Ganesha festival held at the deputy commissioner's office, he highlighted the importance of using eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols to avoid environmental harm. He warned that idols made of plaster of paris (PoP) and painted with colours release toxic chemicals into waterbodies like lakes, wells, and streams when immersed, which is harmful to aquatic life and humans. Local authorities should designate specific locations in lakes and riverbeds for idol immersion. Facilities should be set up for collecting waste, including flowers used in worship, he added. Committees setting up public Gauri and Ganesha idols must obtain mandatory permission from the municipal corporation, town council, city or village panchayat, and the police department. Authorities should impose conditions in permission letters to avoid using banned plastic decorations and flex materials, Shivaraju said. The use of loudspeakers during the celebration is prohibited between 10pm and 6am. Traditional Gauri-Ganesha idols worshipped at home should be immersed at home, he suggested. Public Gauri-Ganesha idols should be immersed in designated ponds or mobile immersion tanks provided by Mysuru City Corporation and municipal bodies and the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Shivaraju added.
