Ganesh Utsav Samithi invites Swamiji for Nimajjanotsavam

Kakinada: The Kakinada City Ganesh Utsav Samithi leaders met Sri Satyananda Saraswati Swamiji, the seer of the Tapovanam in Tuni, on Saturday to invite him to the immersion ceremony of Ganesh idols. The event is scheduled to take place on September 6th and 7th. Responding positively to the invitation, Swamiji stated that he would consider attending the ceremony on 7th. The Samithi representatives informed him that while the Ganesh Navaratri festivities are from August 27th to September 4th, the immersion ceremonies are planned for September 6th and 7th. Due to a lunar eclipse on September 7th, all immersions must be completed before noon on that day. The delegation included Samithi district president Enimireddy Malakondayya, honorary president D Ramana Raju, advisor Duvvuri Subrahmanyam, vice-president Ch Narayanacharyulu, and Karedla Chakri from the Samarasata Seva Foundation. Swamiji praised the Samithi leaders for organising the immersion ceremony for 37 years while upholding traditional values. The district representatives of the Ganesh Utsav Samithi have been touring various areas in Kakinada district to hold meetings with organisers of Ganesh pandals to stress the importance of holding collective immersion ceremonies. During these meetings, they issued specific guidelines to the organisers, including avoiding the use of movie songs, utilising DJ sound systems only within the permitted decibel levels, and abstaining from alcohol during the festival and the immersion ceremony. The Samithi representatives also met District Collector Shan Mohan and requested a preparatory meeting for the Chaturthi and immersion events, and the Collector responded positively. They also submitted a report on various issues to the District SP, as stated by Duvvuri Subrahmanyam, the honorary advisor of the Samithi. He urged apartment communities to organise collective Ganesh festivals to foster brotherhood and spiritual values among children.

Anand held a preparatory video conference regarding the installation and immersion of Ganesh idols. The commissioner discussed the matter in detail with all Hyderabad City Police personnel, from Sub-Inspectors to the Additional Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad city. It has been observed that for the past three years, the Milad un Nabi festival has coincided with the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations. Since this year is no exception, CV Anand gave detailed instructions on the precautions to be taken to ensure both events proceed smoothly. During the conference, the Commissioner provided comprehensive instructions on the precautions to be taken during the installation of the idols, how to coordinate with the mandap organizers until the time of immersion, and the security arrangements required during the immersion processions. He instructed all Sector S.I.s and Police Station S.H.O.s to collect complete details of the mandaps in their respective areas. This information will facilitate geo-tagging, which will be useful for managing security arrangements and tracking the movement of idols during the immersion procession. AP Ganesh Utsav Samiti seeks govt support for celebrations

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Ganesh Utsav Samiti was officially formed here on Sunday. The committee, which includes members from all districts of the state was established to represent and support the public during the upcoming Ganesh Navaratri festival. Gokaraju Ganga Raju was appointed as the honorary president, with Chalasani Anjaneyulu as president and Trinath as general secretary. Gokaraju Ganga Raju requested the government to ensure a smooth and hassle-free celebration of Ganesh Navaratri, which begins on August 27, 2025. 'For hundreds of years, people across Andhra Pradesh, from small villages to big cities, have been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great devotion,' said Ganga Raju. 'The Samiti urges the government to provide permissions for pandals through a single-window system and to offer full cooperation from various departments to prevent any issues,' he said. President Anjaneyulu elaborated on the specific requests, stating, 'We ask the state to direct local administrative bodies, the health department, and the electricity department to provide adequate sanitation, medical services, and power supply for the pandals. The police department should ensure sound system permission, provide security, and clear routes for the immersion processions. Additionally, we request the Irrigation department to arrange platforms and cranes at the immersion sites,' he said. General secretary Trinath said, 'We request that there be no restrictions on the height of Ganesh idols and that the government refrain from imposing various fees for permits. The Andhra Pradesh Ganesh Utsav Samiti asks the government to issue appropriate instructions to all departments to ensure the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations are joyful and successful, and that organisers are treated with respect and honour.'

PoP Ganesh idols flood Krishna, NTR markets in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: Large-scale Ganesh idols made using hazardous Plaster of Paris (PoP) are expected to flood the market once again this year. Artisans across both Krishna and NTR districts have already begun the production of these non-ecofriendly idols ahead of the Vinayaka Navaratri festival. Idols ranging from 2 feet to 20 feet are being produced on a massive scale for the upcoming auspicious occasion. This year, the festival falls on August 26. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 PoP idols are likely to be worshipped and immersed during the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations across the erstwhile Krishna district. Keeping the festive season in mind, idol making began in June. Most idols are being made of PoP, along with materials such as coir and wood. To enhance their appearance, artisans are using a wide range of chemical-based colours. It is important to note that PoP poses environmental threat. Many voluntary organisations, NGOs, and government officials have begun conducting awareness campaigns. However, the key concern raised is that most of these campaigns are launched only in the week leading up to the festival. 'These week-long campaigns serve limited purpose,' said an environmentalist from Vijayawada. 'No one is taking the initiative to organise meetings or discussions with idol makers during the early stages of production. Idol-making usually begins 50 to 90 days in advance, depending on the demand. If NGOs and officials engage with artisans from the beginning, it will be more beneficial to both society and the environment,' the environmentalist added.
