2026 Toyota Hilux leaked patent images reveal revamped design and modern interiors

2026 Toyota Hilux leaked patent images reveal revamped design and modern interiors

The Toyota Hilux has held a dominating presence both on our shores and overseas, and the mid-size pickup truck will finally get its first major overhaul since the 8th-generation model debuted in 2015. A series of new patent images that have been leaked and shared on Instagram by @car_secrets reveal that the upcoming 2026 Hilux will bring a comprehensive update with a revamped exterior and a modernised cabin.
The 2026 Toyota Hilux was first spotted on the move by Headlighmag, a Thai automotive site, and the camouflage test mule was seen to flaunt exterior design updates to the front and rear sections, while the middle was left virtually unchanged. This suggests it is not built as an all-new model and will be based on the current-gen Hilux's underpinnings and mechanicals. It will continue to share the tried-and-tested IMV ladder-frame chassis with the likes of the Fortuner SUV and Innova MPV.
The newly leaked patent images confirm the upcoming changes, which include a completely revamped front fascia with sleeker headlamps that flank a boxier grille and a rugged front bumper with a skid plate. The 2026 Hilux will further feature squared-off wheel arches with plastic cladding for improved road presence. The pickup bed will be redesigned with new taillights and integrated steps for added functionality.
2026 Toyota Hilux: Revamped interior and features
The leaked patent images reveal the 2026 Hilux's modern interiors with a large, floating infotainment display and digital cluster
The current Hilux lags behind its competitors in terms of its cabin and technology, and the next-gen model is likely to be Toyota's answer to a market demanding a more modern interior. The patent drawings reveal a heavily updated cabin with a sleeker design than that of the outgoing version.
The 2026 Hilux will be equipped with a large, floating infotainment display at the centre of the dashboard, positioned above a set of AC vents. The driver also gets a digital instrument cluster, and the centre console is completely overhauled with a new gear selector and armrest with storage.

The updated Hilux will continue to be built on Toyota's IMV platform and is likely to offer an updated version of its existing 2.8-litre inline-four diesel engine paired with 48V mild-hybrid tech. The India-spec Hilux with the non-hybrid diesel makes 204 bhp and up to 500 Nm of torque.

NASCAR's Ricky Stenhouse Jr. pays tribute to WWE legend Hulk Hogan with custom decal on car

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (Image Source: Getty) This weekend's Cup Series race is bound to be savage, and we were given a huge opportunity to relive some wrestling history on Friday afternoon as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. revealed a massive tribute to WWE legend Hulk Hogan . Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s car will carry a "Real American Beer" paint scheme and "HULKAMANIA Forever" decal on his Hyak Motorsports No. 47 Chevrolet. The design features the ripping off of his shirt, an image synonymous with Hogan's energy and personality. It is an emotional tribute in the wake of Hogan's passing just this week, for fans of both motorsport and wrestling alike. The partnership rekindles a brand‑racing connection Stenhouse Jr. has partnered with Hogan's Real American Beer brand before, so this isn't the first time. The livery featuring a patriotic theme first turned heads earlier this summer at Michigan International Speedway with a red, white, and blue scheme. But this new paint scheme features extra sentiment, paying homage to the legacy and personality of Hogan. Based on the brand, Real American Beer sees this opportunity as one that serves as "a celebration of strength and nostalgia," which the brand says also makes a natural pairing with the high-octane excitement of NASCAR. What's at stake this weekend for Ricky Stenhouse Jr.? Stenhouse Jr. is approaching the 'Go Bowling at The Glen' race at Watkins Glen International this weekend with a distinct purpose. Now 18th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, he is looking to finish strong as the season progresses. The focus is also on the pure performance side, but this weekend is not simply a points battle, but also a chance to unleash the energy of the Hulkster on track. This moment will be one to remember and will be honored by everyone sitting at home watching, and by those at the venue. It is a rarity for the wrestling and motorsports worlds to cross over in any fashion, which made it all the more poignant, and a tribute to Hogan's years of staying power and to fans and their eventual lines of demarcation between hero worship and friendship. Toyota warns of $9.5 billion tariff hit, slashes annual profit forecast

(In paragraph 5, corrects the impact of tariffs on Ford to a hit on pretax adjusted profit, instead of revenue) Toyota forecasts 16% fall in full-year operating profit Japanese automakers face pressure from US import tariffs Toyota plans new vehicle factory in Japan Toyota shares fall 1.5% after earnings TOKYO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Japan's Toyota Motor said on Thursday it expected a hit of nearly $10 billion from President Donald Trump's tariffs on cars imported into the United States, the highest such estimate yet by any company, underscoring growing margin pressures. The world's top-selling car maker also cut by 16% its forecast for full-year operating profit, reflecting challenges for global manufacturers grappling with rising costs from U.S. levies on cars, parts, steel and aluminium. "It's honestly very difficult for us to predict what will happen regarding the market environment," Takanori Azuma, Toyota's head of finance, told a briefing, vowing to keep making cars for U.S. customers, regardless of tariff impact. Azuma said the 1.4 trillion yen ($9.50 billion) estimate also includes fallout suppliers are facing, particularly those in the U.S. importing parts from Japan, though he declined to say how much of the total was attributable to that. Rivals have reported smaller tariff hits so far: GM has projected one of $4 billion to $5 billion for the year, while Ford expects a $3-billion gross hit to pretax adjusted profit. Jeep maker Stellantis said tariffs were expected to add $1.7 billion in expenses for the year. Toyota cut its operating profit forecast for the financial year to end-March 2026 to 3.2 trillion yen ($21.7 billion), down from a previous outlook of 3.8 trillion yen. It had previously estimated a tariff hit of 180 billion yen for April and May, but that was solely for the impact from tariffs on Toyota's vehicles. It had not issued a full-year projection until now. For the first quarter from April to June, Toyota reported an operating profit of 1.17 trillion yen, down from 1.31 trillion a year earlier, but above the 902 billion average of seven analyst estimates compiled by LSEG. Toyota's North American business swung to an operating loss of 63.6 billion yen in the first quarter, from profit of 100.7 billion a year earlier, as it took a hit of 450 billion from the tariffs. Its broad production operations, which include U.S., Canadian, Mexican and Japanese plants, expose it to tariffs not only on direct exports but also on vehicles and parts shipped across borders within North America. Last week, the automaker said it turned out some 1.1 million Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles in North America in the first six months of 2025, including more than 700,000 in the United States. TRADE DEAL The first-quarter results highlight the pressure U.S. import tariffs are putting on Japanese automakers, even as a trade pact between Tokyo and Washington offers potential relief. Under the deal agreed last month, Japanese auto exports into the United States would face a 15% tariff, down from levies totalling 27.5% previously. But a timeframe for the change has yet to be unveiled. Last week, Toyota reported record global output and sales for the year's first half, driven by strong demand in North America, Japan and China, including that for petrol-electric hybrid vehicles. Toyota also announced on Thursday a plan to build a new vehicle factory in Japan, where car sales have been falling due to a shrinking population and declining ownership. Toyota said it planned to start operations early next decade at the new plant, but has yet to decide production models. The company's shares ended down 1.5% after the earnings release. Carson Hocevar leaks Rockingham Speedway return before it's official, gets a call from NASCAR

Carson Hocevar (Image Source: Getty) In a puzzling case of accidental comedy, NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar revealed he unknowingly let slip information about the return of Rockingham Speedway that had been, until then, under wraps at NASCAR headquarters, which then phoned him to talk about it. It started as a throwaway statement on a Twitch live stream and within 24 hours, blew up into news headlines and put Hocevar front and center. Carson Hocevar admits the leak and NASCAR isn't pleased Hocevar has had a reputation for being delightfully candid both on and off the track, and this time, it might have come back to bite him. He casually mentioned that Rockingham would be back on the NASCAR schedule during a live streaming session. Soon after, he posted on Instagram, 'I leaked Rockingham. ... I just picked something that I thought would be cool... I had no idea,' confirming the comment was unplanned. Truck Series Driver RELEASED Right Before Playoffs | Carson Hocevar Confronted by Rival Crew Chief NASCAR promptly reached out to his team, reportedly asking, 'How do you know Rockingham's coming back?' The phone call proved that the governing body had not intended for the news to be out at that point in time. NASCAR has a dedicated place in history down at a track neutrally termed The Rock in the form of Rockingham Speedway. Cup races were held at the North Carolina 0.94-mile oval for nearly 40 years before it was removed from the schedule after 2004. The track became dormant aside from some sporadic use in the Truck Series in 2012 and 2013. It was quiet for years, but recent renovations and smart planning have led to it being placed back on center stage, with NASCAR planning to return to the facility with Xfinity and Truck Series events in 2025. Behind the scenes: How the Rock made its comeback Rockingham returned with a partnership between local Track Enterprises, the promoter of the venue, and Spire Motorsports- Hocevar's own Cup team. Mid-2024 agreements enable a return over Easter weekend in 2025. NASCAR had put an extensive marketing push behind the revival, including paint schemes used for promotional purposes, such as a special 'Race the Rock' car driven by Michael McDowell in No. 71 at Martinsville. Also Read: 'I am embarrassed by my comments': Carson Hocevar jokes about fleeing to Mexico after clash with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The schedule change would not be made official by NASCAR for another two and a half weeks, but Hocevar had piqued fans' interest and excitement early with his Twitter slip. It might have made NASCAR's communications staff cranky, but the leak seemed to validate what many fans had hoped anyway: The Rock returns. Hocevar is nothing if not unpredictable, and we saw once again in this true episode. Considered either a shot of refreshing truth or speaking too soon, his candor continues to reverberate in NASCAR.
