Jaipur: The govt is set to allot 2,500 new Saras dairy booths across the state, with a renewed focus on ensuring these installations don't obstruct footpaths and other public spaces, in keeping with the directives released by the Directorate of Urban Bodies on July 28.
A five-member high-level committee has been formed to oversee the location selection and allotment process.
The committee comprises Samit Sharma (secretary, animal husbandry), Juikar Pratik Chandra Shekhar (additional director, DLB), Gaurav Saini (commissioner, Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater), Shruti Bhardwaj (MD, RCDF) and Manish Foujdar (MD, Jaipur Dairy Union).
The move comes in response to growing concerns that existing booths were allotted on pavements, leaving little or no space for pedestrians.
DLB additional director Shekhar said Thursday, "At this stage, we've only received applications. For allotting spaces, ULB commissioners will consult local traffic police. Locations will be finalised only after mutual understanding between both bodies."
Sommissioner of JMC-G, Saini said, "Applicants have suggested locations based on their own preferences but as per the new guidelines, sites will be finalised to ensure they don't hinder public movement.

We're committed to avoiding booths on pavements or crowded walkways." He added that RCDF may be given the responsibility of selecting final booth locations, though discussions are still in preliminary stages.
A Saras Dairy official, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted that while booths are meant to sell only Saras products, many are selling products from other brands and even tobacco-based items, in violation of the norms. "We are aware this is wrong, especially the sale of tobacco. We try to discourage it but the problem is many booth operators simply don't want to comply," the official said. He further added that such govt initiatives are often aimed at generating employment but better enforcement and monitoring will be needed to ensure booths serve their intended purpose without disrupting public spaces.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu sets per capita income target of ₹3.47 lakh by 2025-26

1 2 Vijayawada: Emphasising that governance prioritising "vision, people, nature, and technology" will yield the best results, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu suggested that plans should be prepared with the goal of achieving quality living standards. The chief minister, who took stock of the gross state domestic product (GSDP) status with finance and planning minister P Keshav and senior officials on Monday, said improving the per capita income would enhance people's living standards. He set a target of achieving a per capita income of ₹3,47,871 by the 2025-26 fiscal year and projected a goal of ₹5.42 lakh per capita income by 2029. He reiterated that govt depts must prepare and implement advance plans in their respective sectors. "We should work with vision aligned to short, medium, and long-term goals. We must identify global trends and seize emerging opportunities. Programs should be implemented with a focus on people, society, families, and individuals," he said, and asked the planning dept to work like Niti Aayog and devise the best plans to put Andhra Pradesh on the growth corridor. He asked the officials to take a family as a unit while designing schemes and programs, providing basic needs. Along with welfare schemes, initiatives should be taken to increase their incomes, he observed. He noted that the policies and public mindset should align in a way that benefits the environment. He wanted the natural resources to be preserved while protecting nature. "Waste produced in one industry should become raw material for another, thereby initiating a circular economy," said Naidu. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo He asked officials to integrate the best technologies into governance to provide improved services. "From healthcare to agriculture, technology should become a partner. If we develop vision-centred governance for people, while protecting the environment and integrating technology, we will achieve good results. That's why governance must prioritise people, vision, nature, and technology and work in coordination for the best outcomes," Naidu advised. The CM clarified that along with economic development, providing quality living standards to people of the state is essential. "Andhra Pradesh should become the state with the highest per capita income. Govt depts must work to bring about a better society and better living standards. Study how standards are defined at national and international levels. AP should play a key role in every sector. GVA is the primary factor in mining and agricultural production while GSDP grows only when the govt delivers welfare and development to the people," he said. Chief secretary K Vijayanand and principal secretary (planning) Peeyush Kumar were also present.

5 stations on Kochi Metro Phase II line to be ready by June next year

Kochi: First five stations on the upcoming Phase II line of Kochi Metro will be ready by June 30 next year. Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) managing director Loknath Behera said works on Phase II Pink Line connecting JLN Stadium with Kakkanad would be completed in two phases. Works on first five stations would be completed in the first phase and other five stations would be ready by Dec 2026. Behera said works on Phase II line are lagging by at least 100 days, mainly due to heavy rain and delay in shifting pipelines on the route. "We are confident that the contractor will complete the works as per target," he said, while addressing the media on Monday. Foundation stone for Phase II construction was laid in Sept 2022, and there are complaints that works are delayed mainly due to delay in approval by state govt for availing loan for Metro project. Earlier, KMRL announced that Phase II works would be completed by June 2026. Phase II line with 10 new stations is 11.2km. Stations are being built at Palarivattom Junction, Alinchuvadu, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamughal, Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ, Chittethukara, Kinfra and Infopark. Behera also said that KMRL is taking many steps to avoid traffic congestion on Palarivattom–Kakkanad route during Metro construction works. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo KMRL launches UPI-based ticket vending system To provide a faster, more user-friendly ticketing experience, KMRL introduced UPI-based payments at ticket vending machines (TVMs) across all Metro stations. Transport commissioner Nagaraju C inaugurated the new system at a function held at JLN Stadium Metro station on Monday. With the integration of UPI at TVMs, Metro travellers can now purchase tickets instantly by scanning a QR code and making a payment using any UPI-enabled mobile application. The new system is expected to gradually eliminate physical cash or card transactions, reduce waiting time at counters and ensure a smooth, contactless and secure payment process. It is especially beneficial during peak hours, as it helps decongest ticket counters. "Only a few Metro services in the country have integrated UPI with vending machines. Kochi Metro is proud to be one among them," said Behera.
