Details About Chris Martin Dakota Johnson's Romance Amid Their Breakup

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin are reportedly broken up for a 'final' time, according to insiders, so please bear with us while we mourn their sweet romance. 'It feels final this time,' a source told People on June 4, claiming the couple ended their eight-year relationship in recent weeks. The pair started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends and kept their love story largely out of the public eye. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress didn't confirm their romance until a Sept 2018 in an interview with Tatler, simply saying, 'I'm not going to talk about it, but I am very happy.' In a super-rare 2021 interview with Elle UK, Johnson said, 'We've been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private. Most of the partying takes place inside my house.' In March 2024, it was reported that the couple had been secretly engaged 'for years' after first sparking engagement rumors in 2020. However, in August 2024, Johnson rep was forced to shut down breakup rumors as outlets began to speculate that the duo were on the rocks. Now that the pair have officially called off their romance, we're looking back at what once was. Check out all the little-known details we know about Johnson and Martin's ultra-private romance below: A version of this article was originally published with Sept 2023. Throughout her relationship with Martin, Johnson was pictured out with his kids, having a great time, and going on family vacations. In March 2024, Johnson was asked by Bustle about her relationship with Martin's children. 'I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,' she said. In the same interview with Bustle, Johnson talked about how she's open to motherhood, too. She said, 'I'm so open to that. I've gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything that life has to offer. And especially being a woman, I'm like, What a magical f*cking thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience. If that's meant to happen for me, I'm totally down for it.' There have been numerous photos and videos of Dakota happily dancing along at a Coldplay show. In fact, in 2023, fans caught a sweet moment where Martin got her attention while she was in the VIP box. Along with frequently going to see Martin play in concert, Johnson told Bustle she absolutely adores seeing him! 'I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don't know how to explain it. I feel like, I don't know… I'm watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing,' she said. 'When people are really good at things, it is [sexy.]' In photos obtained by People in February, the pair were seen holding hands and cozying up while on vacation at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Back in 2021, after four years together, they moved in together and lived in Martin's Malibu mansion. He sold it a year after and moved to another home in Malibu. And, fun fact, Johnson told SheKnows that her Daddio co-star Sean Penn is one of their celebrity neighbours. On Nov 14, Dakota Johnson revealed at the 2023 Hope for Depression Research Foundation annual luncheon that Martin helps her out on the tough days, in a rather cute and funny way. 'A few weeks ago, I was having a low day and my partner, said to me, 'Are you really struggling?' and I said 'No?'' she said, 'And he said, 'Baby, you are wearing a Cats T-shirt.' As in Cats the music. So it turns out, I really was struggling. But that moment lifted me up and pulled me out of it.' While Johnson frequently goes to Martin's shows, she even directed the Coldplay music video 'Cry, Cry, Cry.' The single was released on Valentine's Day in 2020, and along with Johnson, the video was also co-directed Cory Bailey. In 2018, Harper's Bazaar reported that the two were seen with matching infinity symbol tattoos, with Johnson's on her elbow and Martin's on the inside of his arm. As of 2023, Johnson has 12 tattoos and Martin has six. Not only has Johnson attended many Colplay concerts and directed a music video, but she even helped Martin improve the shows by introducing him to SubPacs. For those that don't know, SubPacs are a device that helps the hearing impaired enjoy the shows more by letting them feel the vibrations of a concert. Martin talked about it on the Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast, saying, 'Dakota, my partner, gave me one as a gift because she saw someone online experiencing whatever they are experiencing with this. It's kind of like body armor that you put on. It connects to the bass.' He added: 'So, we started using it and it's been so amazing and it should get better and better. We have ten or twenty now of those packs. So, if you're hearing impaired we have an area where you put on the pack and you can feel the show.' Get ready for this one because during a show in London back in Oct 2021, Martin pointed to Dakota Johnson in the audience and said, 'This is about my universe. She's here,' per ET. Not only has Johnson been on several holidays with Chris Martin, his kids, and Gwyneth Paltrow, but Paltrow also 'adores' Dakota! Paltrow posted a birthday tribute to Johnson on Instagram in 2019, per People. And soon after, she told Harper's Bazaar, 'I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional… I adore her.' In a rare interview with People in 2018, Johnson's mom Melanie Griffith said, 'I adore him! 'But [Dakota] is very private about her life, and I respect that.' Along with Griffith, Dakota's dad Don Johnson talked about how he feels about Martin. In Nov 2021, he said, 'But listen, if she's happy, I will be happy, and he's a lovely guy. And if she decides to get married, I would imagine that there would be grandchildren not too far out for that. I'd be pretty excited about that part.'

Chris Martin Has Fans up in Arms About His Reported Dakota Johnson Breakup

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have kept fans guessing about their relationship for years. Are they on or are they off? The June 4 report from People led everyone to believe that the duo was done for good after eight years of a back-and-forth relationship. More from SheKnows Insider Reveals Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin's Biggest 'Issues' That Led to Their Breakup 'It feels final this time,' a source told the media outlet. But record scratch, the Coldplay singer has fans questioning every claim that they are no longer together after his concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on June 6. A Deuxmoi Instagram clip showed Martin sharing some love to his ex (not ex?) in a subtle way. 'Thank you so much, everybody. Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other,' he said to the crowd at the end of the concert. 'Don't forget to see Materialists! We love you!' Martin is savvy enough to know that his message urging fans to see Johnson's upcoming movie would carry far and wide over social media. Deuxmoi added in the caption that the person who submitted the video stated emphatically, ' ‼️THEY'RE NOT BROKEN UP‼️' Johnson's supporters were not amused by his move, though; they blamed him for the inconsistent nature of their romance. 'This relationship was dragging Dakota down first and foremost, and Chris was doing what he loved to the detriment of Dakota's career. It's time for her to go her own way and not follow him on tour. Run Dakota,' one social media account said in the comments. Another Johnson fan added, 'Her team leaked it to People first. They are done. For the past 8 years, they get together and break up and then repeat it. That is not a healthy relationship.' Still, some followers gave Martin the benefit of the doubt noting, 'You can break up with someone and still be supportive. Look at him and GP [Gwyneth Paltrow].' Martin and Johnson's career and life timeline seemed to be an issue, according to an insider who spoke to The Sun. 'They really tried to work through their issues, but the age gap was often a problem, and she'd expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life, but they discussed it,' they explained of the couple's 13-year age gap. 'They made some beautiful memories as a family, and it'll be hard for both of them to move on after such a long relationship, but they will do it.' It's hard to know whether Martin's move was just a friendly gesture or a way to reconcile with his reported ex. But there's one thing for certain — Martin and Johnson will keep fans guessing all the way to the of SheKnows 15 of Paulina Gretzky's Most Daring Looks to Date Jared Leto, Conor McGregor, & 33 Other Famous Men Who Have Been Accused of Sexual Assault Emily Ratajkowski's Dating History: All of Her Memorable A-List Flings

Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano reveals shocking details about nearly losing her eye after being shot in face

Christy Carlson Romano is speaking out about nearly losing an eye after she was shot in the face four months ago. During an appearance on the upcoming June 10 episode of the 'Not a Damn Chance!' podcast, via a sneak peek by People magazine, the 41-year-old former Disney star recalled the terrifying incident while she was shooting clay pigeons with her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his birthday. Asked how it happened, Romano explained she was not 'at liberty to say specifics,' according to People. The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano shared details for the first time about what transpired. 'It's a birdshot that got sprayed in my direction by another party, and essentially it was within 200 feet, which means really fast and hot,' she told hosts Neen Williams and Frankland Lee. 'They weren't malicious,' Romano clarified. 'It wasn't aggravated assault. It's what happened.' The 'Even Stevens' star then emphasized the importance of gun safety and described her initial response. 4 Christy Carlson Romano sits in the hospital after being shot in the face at a party in February, 2025. 'I feel very out of body about it. … It's pretty wild,' she said. 'I'm shocked, and what goes through my head immediately is, 'Oh that's dope, I just got shot.' And then I go, 'Oh now I'm gonna die,'' she said. 'I take a knee. My husband witnessed it and was like, 'Hey are you hit?' because I didn't scream. I didn't do anything. I was just out of body.' Romano recalled she had a knee-jerk reaction upon being shot that stemmed from her time on the third season of the FOX reality TV series 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.' 4 The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano explained that the contestants were trained to give a thumbs-up to let their fellow cast members know that they were OK during the series' perilous challenges. The 'Kim Possible' alum recalled that, out of habit, she gave Rooney a thumbs-up immediately after she was shot. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're good.' And I was like, 'No I'm hit.' He goes, 'Oh s—,'' Romano recalled of her husband's reaction. She remembered that Rooney rushed to her aid and had to restrain himself from retaliating against the other party. 4 Christy Carlson Romano and Hillary Duff in a scene from 'Cadet Kelly.' ©Disney Channel/Courtesy Everett Collection 'So, he's running to me and making sure I'm OK, and he's fighting the urge to hurt the person … but he's been practicing stoicism recently, and there was something in him,' Romano recalled. 'He was immediately into action mode, evaluating me and ran to get the car. 'I felt this huge rush that I'd never felt before where I was starting to get really woozy. I think it was shock.' Romano told the hosts she didn't experience any pain initially and described the thoughts that were running through her head, including her fears her children might be affected. The actress shares daughters Isabella, 7, and Sofia, 5, with Rooney. 'I was covered in blood from my forehead … and I said three things. I was like, 'Am I gonna die? Who's gonna take care of the girls? Is my career over?'' she recalled. Romano explained that she came close to being blinded or killed. 'If my head would've been tilted in any other direction, I would have been blind in my right eye. Or if I had turned my head, I could have gotten hit in a softer side of my skull, and I would have potentially been dead,' Romano said. 'It's still in my eye,' she said of the pellets from the shotgun. 'I have a fragment still in my forehead, and I have a fragment still behind my eye, which is 1 millimeter away from blinding me.' Romano previously explained on Instagram that the lead fragment behind her eye had to remain in her face because removing it could leave her blind. 4 Christy Carlson Roman poses for a picture during a family trip to Disneyland in May 2025. Christy Carlson Romano/Instagram The shot fragment lodged in her skull will also remain in place because doctors said it will expedite her healing process. During her podcast interview, Romano told hosts she put on a brave face at first and was making jokes about her medical crisis after she arrived at the hospital. 'In retrospect, I was trying to be funny and not cry because I wanted the people around me to feel more calm so that they could take better care of me,' Romano said. The former Broadway star admitted that it has been difficult to accept she is a 'gunshot survivor.' Clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport in which upside-down circular disks made of limestone and pitch used as targets are propelled into the air by machines called traps. Shooters use shotguns, with each shot projecting hundreds of small lead balls to hit the clay pigeons. The sport is typically not considered dangerous as long as safety measures are follow.
