Community identifies 23-year-old as man shot dead by police in Ontario court
Wapekeka First Nation says the community is mourning the death of 23-year-old Tyresse Kenny Padro Cree Roundsky, who died on July 31.
Shibogama First Nations Council, which counts the First Nation as a member, confirmed that he was shot in a temporary courtroom housed at a youth centre.

Wapekeka First Nation says he will be missed by his family, friends and primary caregiver.
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating the shooting, which they say happened after a police officer was approached by a man with a knife at the fly-in courtroom in the middle of the day.
Investigators say the man and the officer had an interaction before the officer shot his gun at the man who was pronounced dead on scene.

The SIU says a post-mortem exam was scheduled for Sunday, though the investigation is ongoing and further information has yet to be released.
Wapekeka First Nation said in a statement that funeral arrangements are being made for Roundsky and that a crisis worker is available for people who need support.
'His memories are alive in all of us,' the statement said.

Winnipeg police make drug, gun seizure after driver flees traffic stop Saturday
Two men are facing a lengthy list of charges after fleeing an early morning traffic stop Saturday in the West End, Winnipeg police say. Officers were patrolling near Agnes Street and St. Matthews Avenue just before 2:15 a.m. when they saw a 2011 Nissan Rogue idling at a stop sign. The same Nissan later failed to stop at a red light at Maryland Street and Portage Avenue, police said, and when they attempted a traffic stop, it took off at high speed. Police also found small quantities of crack, cocaine and three cellular phones that had been dropped near the site of the arrest. Police also seized $895 in cash from the driver. Story continues below advertisement A 20-year-old man now faces more than half a dozen charges, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing the proceeds of property obtained by crime, fleeing while pursued by a peace officer and four firearms charges. The other man, 21, has been charged with a similar list of offences — six in total.

‘My heart feels like a hollow shell': B.C. man honours wife, baby killed by fallen tree
A memorial was held in Comox on Sunday night for a young mother and her five-month-old son who died in a tragic accident last month. Lynae Wolchuk, 26, and her baby, Elias, were killed after a tree fell on them at a campground on Comox Lake on July 31. Edmonton man facing 15 online child sex exploitation charges
An Edmonton man is facing 15 charges related to online child sexual exploitation following an international investigation involving police forces in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. The charges against 32-year-old Cordell Campbell were laid on July 15, 2025, stemming from an investigation that involved members of Alberta's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) team, the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Crime Centre, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol). Investigators with ICE allege that, according to multiple complaints, Campbell was luring children online and sharing child sexual exploitation materials. In a separate incident in May 2023, Europol and the United Kingdom's Eastern Region Special Operations Unit allege he sent sexually explicit photos and videos to what he believed was a 13-year-old girl. Story continues below advertisement ICE claims it was informed of the allegations in December 2024 and launched an investigation, which led to Campbell's arrest. The charges against Campbell include: 3 counts of luring a child; 3 counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child; 3 counts of possession of child pornography; 3 counts of accessing child pornography; 2 counts of distributing child pornography; and, Making child pornography. 'Our investigation led us to believe that Mr. Campbell has been engaging in this type of activity across various platforms since 2023,' said Cst. Stephanie Bosch of ICE. Investigators are also asking anyone with information about the case or any case of child exploitation to contact their local police department.
